<p>With the number of attacks in the Red Sea seeing a spike, the Cape of Good Hope route, on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa, is being treated as an alternative by the shipping companies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Abdush was found lying on her back, clothes torn, legs spread and vagina exposed, the report said. Her face was beyond recognition. The Israeli police said they believed that the woman was raped.</p>

<p>Iran's&nbsp;Alborz&nbsp;warship&nbsp;has entered the Red Sea through the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait, Tasnim news agency reported Monday, at a time of heightened tensions over the globally important waterway.</p>

<p>The agency did not give specific reasons for its deployment, but noted that Iranian military vessels had operated in the area since 2009.</p>

<p>"The&nbsp;Alborz&nbsp;destroyer&nbsp;entered the Red Sea... by passing through the Bab al-Mandeb," waterway at the southern tip of the Red Sea, connecting with the Gulf of Aden in the Indian Ocean, the agency said.</p>

<p>It added that Iran's naval fleet has been operating in the area "to secure shipping lanes, repel pirates, among other purposes since 2009".</p>

<p>The United States in early December set up a multinational naval task force for the Red Sea following a flurry of missile and drone attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels on merchant vessels which led shipping companies to suspend passages through the area.</p>

<p>The Houthis say the attacks were in solidarity with Palestinians in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, where Israel is battling Hamas militants.</p>

<p>According to the International Chamber of Shipping, 12 per cent of global trade passes through the Red Sea, which provides a shortcut past Africa via the Suez Canal.</p>

<p>On Sunday, US Navy helicopters fired on Houthi rebels attempting to board a cargo ship off Yemen, with the rebels reporting 10 fighters dead or missing.</p>

<p>Regional tensions have spiked since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7.</p>

<p>On Monday, Britain's Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said Britain was "willing to take direct action" against the Houthis "to deter threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea".&nbsp;</p>

<p>British Foreign Secretary David Cameron had spoken on Sunday with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian about the Red Sea tensions.</p>

<p>"I made clear that Iran shares responsibility for preventing these attacks," he said on social media, noting Tehran's "long-standing support" for the Houthis.</p>

<p>Abdollahian criticised the "double-standards" of some Western countries, according to a statement from Iran's foreign ministry, saying the "Israeli regime cannot be allowed... to set the region on fire" with the Gaza war.</p>

<p>The United States previously accused Iran of being "deeply involved" in the Houthi attacks.</p>

<p>Iran has denied such accusations saying the Houthi rebels were acting on their own.</p>

<p>Freed Israeli hostage Mia Schem, who was held captive by Hamas fighters in war-torn Gaza for 54 days, recently revealed shocking details about her ordeal with a local media outlet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sharing her harrowing experience with Israel Channel 13, she said that she "went through a Holocaust".</p>

<p>"It is important for me to reflect the real situation with regard to people living in Gaza, who they really are and what I went through over there," the 21-year-old Israeli-French tattoo artist said. "I went through a Holocaust, everyone there is a terrorist," said Schem, who was released on Nov 30 during a ceasefire.</p>

<p>Schem&nbsp;told the Israeli broadcaster how she was kidnapped from the music festival near Reim on Oct 7 during the Hamas attack and held captive at a family house in Gaza which was under the Palestinian militant group's control.</p>

<p>"It's families under Hamas (control). You know, in retrospect, I suddenly realised that I was with a family. Suddenly I start asking myself questions, why am I at a family's house? Why are there children here? Why is there a woman here?" she said.</p>

<p>Further describing her ordeal, Schem said she was constantly scared of being raped or killed.</p>

<p>"(I was) closed in a dark room, not allowed to talk, not allowed to be seen, to be heard, hidden. There is a terrorist looking at you 24/7, looking, raping you with his eyes." She said. "There is a fear of being raped, there is a fear of dying.. I was frightened."</p>

<p>He added that his country had sent two aid packages to Palestine with the third one being prepared.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also said that Pakistan was in talks with Jordan and Egypt to ensure timely aid to Palestinians and evacuation of those wounded in Gaza.</p>

<h2><strong>A narrow save</strong></h2>

<p>California's decision comes just hours after Maine disqualified the Republican leader from the primary ballot. Before that, Colorado had barred Trump from the ballet, which the Republicans are appealing in the US Supreme Court.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Removing a candidate from the ballot under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment is not something my office takes lightly and is not as simple as the requirement that a person be at least 35 years old to be president," she added.</p>

<p>After the two strikes, California's decision comes as a relief for Trump. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"Given the compressed timeframe, the novel constitutional questions involved, the importance of this case, and impending ballot preparation deadlines, I will suspend the effect of my decision until the Superior Court rules on any appeal, or the time to appeal …has expired," wrote Bellows, a Democrat, in her decision.</p>
