<p>Donald Trump failed to secure a bond that would have allowed him to appeal a $454 million judgment against him in a New York civil fraud case without depositing the entire sum, his attorneys said on Monday (Mar 18).</p>

<p>The former US president needs to either come up with the money or post a bond in order to keep the state's authorities from seizing his properties as he appeals Justice Arthur Engoron's judgement from Feb 16 that ordered him and co-defendants to pay $464 million in penalties and interest for misstating property values to deceive lenders and insurers.</p>

<p>The Republican presidential candidate's attorneys argued that the judgment's sum was excessive and asked a mid-level state appeals court to postpone its execution in a court filing on Monday.</p>

<p>They stated that obtaining a total appeal bail would "effectively" require "cash reserves approaching $1 billion" and that doing so was "impossible."</p>

<p>They added that so far the defendants had approached 30 surety companies through four separate brokers in order to obtain a bond.</p>

<p>"Enforcing an impossible bond requirement as a condition of appeal would inflict manifest irreparable injury on Defendants," Trump's lawyers wrote.</p>

<p>The lawyers urged that instead, Trump be allowed to post a $100 million bond while he appeals the judgment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If Trump loses his appeal and it turns out that he cannot afford the money, a bonding company would be responsible for any payout.</p>

<p>Trump's attorneys included a declaration from Gary Giulietti, an executive of the insurance brokerage firm the Lockton Companies, which Trump has hired in order to help him obtain a bond.</p>

<p>Giulietti in his statement wrote that a bond for the entire $464 million "is not possible under the circumstances presented." He also pointed out that many sureties would not issue bonds above $100 million and would only accept cash or securities as collateral, and not real estate.</p>

<p>Trump has denied any wrongdoing in the case.</p>

<p>Earlier this month, the former US President posted a $91.6 million bond to cover an $83.3 million defamation verdict for the writer E. Jean Carroll case who accused Trump of raping her decades ago.</p>

<p>"If an inner pane cracks, the other pane and layers can maintain cabin pressure," the statement added.</p>

<p>Alaska Airlines said that the authorities will inspect the aircraft and the engineers on the ground will carry out the repair.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, Boeing planes across various airlines have reported a series of mishaps in the past few months.</p>

<p>The US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters in a routine briefing that Israel and the United States&nbsp;would have a comprehensive discussion on the way forward in Gaza amid a raging humanitarian crisis due to&nbsp;six months of fierce state of war that has killed over 32,000 Palestinians so far.</p>

<p>However, the United States expressed discontentment over Israel's purported lack of clarity over the situation in Gaza.</p>

<p>"Israel cleared Shifa once. Hamas came back into Shifa, which raises questions about how to ensure a sustainable campaign against Hamas so that it cannot regenerate, cannot retake territory,"&nbsp;Sullivan said during the press briefing.</p>

<p>Sullivan also repeated the US argument that a major ground operation in Rafah would be a mistake, adding: "It would lead to more innocent civilian deaths, worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis, deepen the anarchy in Gaza, and further isolate Israel internationally."</p>

<p>He added: "A military plan cannot succeed without an integrated humanitarian plan and political plan."</p>

<h2><strong>Gaza truce is 'still possible': United States</strong></h2>

<p>The US National Security Adviser&nbsp;said that Hamas has added new conditions to the latest hostage deal framework.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Hamas has put a proposal on the table — this is after Israel, working with Qatar, Egypt and the United States, had indicated a willingness to move forward on a six-week ceasefire in return for the release of a number of hostages, leading to further phases from there, and Hamas had given us nothing for quite some time,"&nbsp;Sullivan said, repeating that there could be a deal immediately if Hamas would just agree to release roughly 40 Israeli female, elderly, and wounded hostages.</p>

<p>Instead, Hamas "put a proposal on the table where they’ve added a series of other conditions… The Israeli government has responded by saying they can’t just accept that. They regard some of those conditions as going too far, but that’s what a negotiation is about," the US national security adviser continued while&nbsp;noting that negotiating teams are in Qatar trying to secure a deal.</p>

<p>"We believe that those discussions are very alive, that a deal is possible," Sullivan said.</p>
