An inquiry by a New Zealand military court found that the incident where the country’s naval vessel sank after hitting a reef earlier this year took place due to "a series of human errors." "The crew did not realize Manawanui remained in autopilot and, as a consequence, mistakenly believed its failure to respond to direction changes was the result of a thruster control failure," he said.

Golding also added that the crew failed to check if the ship was actually under manual control. "This check did not occur. Remaining in autopilot resulted in the ship maintaining a course toward land, until grounding and eventually stranding," he said.

"Muscle memory from the person in control should have leaned over to that panel and checked whether the screen said autopilot or not," he added.

The inquiry is expected to conclude next year, after which a separate disciplinary process will begin involving three unnamed crew members. Golding told the public that lessons would be learned from the incident, saying, "It is on me, as the Chief of Navy, to earn back your trust."

All 75 people on board the vessel were safely evacuated, but the ship, which was carrying 950 tonnes of diesel, began leaking oil into the sea. Divers have been monitoring the slow leak, and salvage teams are preparing to recover the fuel. So far, no major leaks have been reported, though concerns remain for nearby coastal villages.

This incident marked the first loss of a New Zealand ship since World War Two. The HMNZS Manawanui was one of the nine ships in the country's navy fleet.&nbsp;

MMA fighter Conor McGregor's wax statue has been removed from public viewing by the National Wax Museum Plus in Dublin, in the wake of his civil trial case.

A jury at the High Court in the Irish capital found McGregor guilty of assaulting Nikita Hand and raping her in a hotel in December 2018 in Dublin.

The MMA fighter was asked to pay Hand nearly €250,000 (approx $264122) in damages.

The museum, in a statement, said, "As a family-friendly attraction, we regularly review our exhibits to ensure they align with our values and the expectations of our visitors."

"We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions about future displays accordingly," it added.

Speaking to Irish broadcaster RTÉ, a spokesperson of the museum said that the sculpture was "one of the more popular ones", especially with tourists.

"If you look at most photos online taken by people visiting the museum, a lot would be with McGregor," the spokesperson added.

The father of the MMA fighter, Tony McGregor, had unveiled the statue in August 2017.

After the civil rape case's verdict, various companies announced that the products which were linked to Conor McGregor will no longer be stocked by them.

Meanwhile, the company, which now owns a whiskey and was co-founded by the fighter originally, said that his name and image will no longer be used by them for their marketing.

Speaking about the same, a spokesperson of Proximo Spirits said it had been the "100% owner of Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey since 2021".

Meanwhile, Belfast bar Filthy McNasty's has announced that it has suspended the sale of McGregor's Forged branded stout which was launched in December 2023.

Tesco, earlier this week, said it is removing all products of McGregor from its online platform and stores.

Joining the wagon, BWG Foods announced that the products will not be available for distribution across its network of MACE, Londis, SPAR, EUROSPAR and XL stores.

Cork-based Barry Group said that they had taken the decision to remove Proper No Twelve and Forged Stout from its Costcutter and Carry Out retail outlets.

Speaking about it, a spokesperson said this reflected the company's "commitment to maintaining a retail environment that resonates with the values of our customers and partners."

Trump earlier this week named Kellogg, who served as national security adviser to former vice president Mike Pence during the incoming US president's first term, as&nbsp;US special envoy to Ukraine and Russia.

Kellogg, a retired US lieutenant general, wrote the document titled 'America First, Russia, &amp; Ukraine' for The America First Policy Institute.

The paper blamed the incumbent President&nbsp;Joe Biden Administration’s incompetent policies for the Ukraine war, which it described as an "avoidable crisis" that has entangled America in an endless war due to rejection of the 'America First' approach to national security.

The Democratic government's "risk-averse pattern" in arming Ukraine and failure of diplomacy with Russia has prolonged the war, noted the research paper Kellogg wrote with former CIA analyst Fred Fleitz.

Both Kellogg and Fleitz were chiefs of staff in Trump’s national security council from 2017 to 2021.

The authors said ending the war would require "strong, America First leadership" to deliver a peace deal and immediately end the hostilities.

Among its suggestions, the paper said the US 'would continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defences to ensure Russia will make no further advances and will not attack again after a ceasefire or peace agreement.'&nbsp;

"Future American military aid, however, will require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia," it said.

To convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to join peace talks, it suggested that the US president and NATO&nbsp;leaders should put off NATO&nbsp;membership 'for an extended period' in exchange for a comprehensive and verifiable peace deal with security guarantees.

It said the US and allies would pledge to fully lift sanctions against Russia and normalise relations only after it signs a peace agreement acceptable to Ukraine.&nbsp;

"We also call for placing levies on Russian energy sales to pay for Ukrainian reconstruction," it added.

There is genuine fear among policymakers and observers that Trump, once he assumes charge at the White House after a gap of four years, would end military aid to Ukraine.

Before that happens,&nbsp;the Biden administration is pushing as much military and financial aid to Ukraine to help its fight against Russia.

Recently, the US allowed Ukraine to use American-made ATACMS missiles inside Russian territory.

Russia responded by firing the intermediate-range missile, Oreshnik, on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

American media outlets are also reporting that the US might give some form of nuclear weapons to Ukraine, a move Russia described as 'absolutely irresponsible'.

The structure, which had suffered devastation due to the blaze, will now be re-opened on December 7, with French President Emmanuel Macron addressing the opening ceremony of the renovated cathedral.

On Friday (Nov 29), Macron inspected the cathedral and shared the first official insight into the 850-year-old edifice which was broadcast on live television.
