United States (US) Vice President Kamala Harris appeared to be taking a balanced stand on the Gaza war when she met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. On Thursday (July 25), Harris held the Israeli government responsible for the deaths of civilians in Gaza but also pledged “unwavering” support for the right of existence of the Jewish state. She also called for a ceasefire in the war-ravaged region.

Notorious Mexican drug cartel Sinaloa faced another blog after two of its top leaders were arrested by US authorities in Texas on Thursday. The US Justice Department said it arrested Sinaloa's co-founder Ismael Zambada Garcia (aka El Mayo) and El Chapo's son Joaquin Guzman Lopez.

In other news from around the world, the US said late Thursday that a joint bomber patrol by Russia and China near Alaska was not a surprise. Russian and Chinese nuclear-capable strategic bombers patrolled near Alaska in the North Pacific and Arctic.
