NATO air defence systems have intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched from Iran as it headed toward Turkish airspace, marking the first time the ongoing U.S.–Iran war has directly impacted a NATO member. The missile reportedly crossed Iraq and Syria before being neutralised by NATO assets deployed in the eastern Mediterranean. While no casualties were reported, the incident raises fears that the widening conflict in West Asia could draw NATO directly into the war.
