NATO air defence systems have intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched from Iran as it headed toward Turkish airspace, marking the first time the ongoing U.S.–Iran war has directly impacted a NATO member. The missile reportedly crossed Iraq and Syria before being neutralised by NATO assets deployed in the eastern Mediterranean.
