The proposed “Maritime Freedom Construct,” reportedly backed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Pentagon, comes as Donald Trump reviews military options tied to the Iran crisis. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf have issued defiant messages warning against continued American presence in the Gulf.
