US-Iran War: Indian EAM Jaishankar Counters Opposition, Says India Not a 'Broker Nation' | WION

India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has pushed back against suggestions that India could mediate in the US-Iran conflict. Speaking at an all-party meeting, Jaishankar said India cannot act as a “broker nation,” rejecting comparisons with Pakistan’s offer to facilitate talks between Washington and Tehran. He emphasised that India follows an independent foreign policy and is focused on de-escalation rather than inserting itself as an intermediary. The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic manoeuvres in the region, with Pakistan offering to host talks and position itself as a mediator in the conflict.
