A deeply disturbing incident in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked outrage and action. Father Vipin Gupta arrived at the District Magistrate’s office carrying the deceased body of his newborn in a bag, alleging that a private hospital in Mahievaganj delayed treatment and demanded escalating payments, leading to the child’s death.
According to Gupta, the hospital initially quoted ₹10,000 for a normal delivery and ₹12,000 for a C-section—but kept raising the charges as his wife’s labor progressed
