Denmark has announced plans to ban social media use for children under 15, aiming to protect young users’ mental health and well-being. Platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube would be restricted under the proposal, expected to come into effect by mid-2026.
Parents could grant access for 13- and 14-year-olds after assessments, with enforcement likely via a digital age-verification app. Following Australia’s recent under-16 social media ban, Denmark seeks to go further in protecting children from harmful digital content and excessive online exposure.
