Over the past two months, the Vijay-led government has repeatedly emphasized transparency and clean governance. However, bringing individuals with controversial records into the party could invite scrutiny over the government's commitment to those principles and highlight a disconnect between its promises and actions. At the same time, the administration is facing allegations of horse-trading to secure a majority in the 234-member Assembly, as the TVK continues to induct AIADMK MLAs who have resigned from their seats. Six former AIADMK legislators have already joined the TVK, with more defections expected in the coming weeks.
