French President Emmanuel Macron has warned against 'new imperialism' in the Pacific during a landmark first visit to the region. He denounced actions by big powers saying they threaten the sovereignty of smaller states. China, the United States, Australia and several other nations have strategic and geopolitical interests in the region.
