Impact of India almond tariffs a 'big question mark' for California farmers

California almond grower Jake Wenger is heading into this year's harvest with a 'big question mark' over the impact of India's retaliatory trade tariffs on US goods, including almonds, which took effect in June. The fourth-generation farmer said he felt little impact from last year's increase in duties levied by China on almonds, which was in retaliation against US President Donald Trump's plans to slap tariffs on up to $60 billion in Chinese goods. The reason, he says, was that much of the US almond crop was redirected to India.
