Germany Foils Christmas Market Attack, Five Arrested Over Islamist Plot

German authorities have foiled an Islamist-backed plot to attack a Christmas market, arresting five suspects in southern Bavaria. The suspects, including an Egyptian, three Moroccans, and a Syrian, were allegedly planning to use a vehicle to harm as many people as possible. Authorities suspect an Islamist motive, and all suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
