Nigeria is marshalling stakeholders to work towards curtailing Sickle cell anemia. The statistics are grim. Over 40 million Nigerians are carriers of the sickle cell gene. It is also estimated that over 150,000 children are born with s-c-d each year, making it the highest number of newborns affected by the condition in any country.
