Bangladesh’s Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has recommended that a magistrate court discharge former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 112 other accused in a case filed over an alleged attempted murder during the July uprising, citing lack of evidence and “factual errors” after investigators could not locate the claimed victims. The final investigation report submitted to the court highlights gaps in proof, and the next hearing is scheduled for February 3, 2026, as authorities consider dropping the charges entirely.
