Two professors at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, are facing criticism for inconsistencies in grading answer sheets. It's reported that they gave marks to D Pharma students who wrote "Jai Shree Ram", cricketers' names, and unrelated content instead of actual answers.

As per a report by Aaj Tak, the matter surfaced when two student leaders named Uddeshya and Divyanshu Singh filed a Right to Information (RTI) request, claiming that the professors accepted bribes from students and unlawfully passed them.

They sought the roll numbers of about 18 D Pharma course students to review their answer sheets and requested re-evaluation. Additionally, they submitted an affidavit and a complaint letter regarding the issue.&nbsp;

Following this, Raj Bhavan initiated an inquiry into the issue on December 21, 2023. The university administration established a committee to probe the matter.

Upon re-evaluation of the answer sheets by external professors, a significant difference was noted in the marks assigned to the students. For instance, where the professors had given 52 and 34 marks, external evaluators deemed the same answer sheets worthy of only zero and four marks.

She ran over to the sink to rinse off the scruff-scouring syrup. But it peeled her skin because it was so hot. Renken took her daughter to the emergency room straight away. By that time, a bright pink patch underneath was visible as the outer layer of the dermis had sloughed off after receiving a second-degree burn from the "sugar waxing" experiment. Surprisingly, she was not the first patient with a sugar-induced injury. "Once Allison told the doctor what happened, he said he had watched the TikTok videos and explained that by putting the hot wax into the fridge, you are essentially flash cooling it. When the wax is in the fridge, for only an hour or two, it doesn't cool evenly and leaves hot pockets," Renken explained. She added, "When you put it in the microwave these pockets are then going to get even hotter but the other bits of the wax will only get warm which causes a combustion reaction which pops the hot pockets." US: TikTok trend 'sugar waxing' leaves Iowa teen with second-degree burn

In an incident straight out of Steven Spielberg's 'Catch Me If You Can,' a 24-year-old man has been arrested for posing as a Singapore Airlines pilot.

On Thursday (Apr 25), paramilitary forces at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi nabbed Sangeet Singh, a&nbsp;UP&nbsp;resident. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) spotted Singh strolling near the airport skywalk dressed in a pilot's uniform and carrying&nbsp;a fake identity card.

The man who claimed to be a Singapore Airlines pilot as per media reports had even misled his family into believing that he was a commercial pilot.

However, authorities determined that his credentials were anything but real.

<h2>Fabricated ID and duplicate uniform</h2>

As per Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani, Sangeet Singh had fabricated the Singapore Airlines ID card. The uniform he was wearing was apparently purchased from Dwarka in Delhi.

"He presented himself as a pilot of an airline to CISF personnel. He displayed an ID card hanging from his neck. The staff noticed something wrong and, upon interception, was identified as Sangeet Singh, of Noida," said DGP Rangnani.

"Investigations revealed that he had forged the ID&nbsp;using some online application and purchased the uniform accessories from Dwarka, New Delhi," added the DCP.

As per the police, Singh had completed a one-year course in Aviation Hospitality from Mumbai in 2020.&nbsp;

The impostor has been arrested, and a case was registered against him, even as authorities continue with further investigation.&nbsp;Reacting to the news of his arrest, Singapore High Commissioner HC Wong on X (formerly Twitter) posted, "UP man caught at IGI Airport posing as Singapore Airlines Pilot. So glad he got caught."

The uniform he was wearing was apparently purchased from Dwarka in Delhi. "He presented himself as a pilot of an airline to CISF personnel. He displayed an ID card hanging from his neck. The staff noticed something wrong and, upon interception, was identified as Sangeet Singh, of Noida," said DGP Rangnani. "Investigations revealed that he had forged the ID using some online application and purchased the uniform accessories from Dwarka, New Delhi," added the DCP. The widespread use of alcohol and e-cigarettes among adolescents is "alarming", according to a report released on Thursday by the World Health Organization's (WHO) European branch, which recommended measures to limit access.

Based on survey data from 280,000 young people aged 11, 13 and 15 in Europe, Central Asia and Canada, the WHO said it showed a "concerning picture" of substance use among young people.

"The long-term consequences of these trends are significant, and policy-makers cannot afford to ignore these alarming findings," the health body said.

The report found that 57 per cent of 15-year-olds had drunk alcohol at least once. For girls, the figure was 59 per cent, compared to 56 per cent of boys.

The WHO noted that overall drinking had decreased for boys, while it had increased for girls.

When it came to current use -- defined as having drunk at least once in the last 30 days -- eight per cent of 11-year-old boys reported having done so, compared to five per cent of girls.

But by age 15, girls had overtaken boys, with 38 per cent of girls saying they had drunk at least once in the last 30 days, while only 36 per cent of boys had.

"These findings highlight how available and normalised alcohol is, showing the urgent need for better policy measures to protect children and young people from harms caused by alcohol," said WHO Europe -- which gathers 53 countries including several in Central Asia.

In addition, nine per cent of teenagers reported having experienced "significant drunkenness" -- having been drunk at least twice.&nbsp;

The WHO said this rate climbed from five per cent among 13-year-olds to 20 per cent for 15-year-olds, "demonstrating an escalating trend in alcohol abuse among youth".

<h2>Costly consequences</h2>

The report also highlighted the increased use of e-cigarettes -- often called vapes -- among teenagers.

While smoking is declining, with 13 percent of 11-15 year-olds having smoked in 2022, two percentage points less than four years earlier, the report noted that many of them have instead adopted e-cigarettes -- which have overtaken cigarettes among adolescents.

Around 32 percent of 15-year-olds have used an e-cigarette, and 20 percent reported having used one in the last 30 days.

"The widespread use of harmful substances among children in many countries across the European Region -– and beyond -– is a serious public health threat," WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge said in a statement.

Kluge called for higher taxes, restrictions in availability and advertising, as well as a ban on flavouring agents.

"Engaging in high-risk behaviours during the adolescent years can shape adult behaviour, with substance use at an early age being linked to a higher risk of addiction," the report said.

"The consequences are costly for them and society," it added.

Cannabis use, meanwhile, was down slightly with 12 percent of 15-year-olds having ever used it, down four percentage points in as many years.

"Dylan loves learning about history and going to the museums, so he was excited to see what it was," Christopher told the media outlet.

Initially, the 7-year-old thought the bones were from a 'dinosaur', and the family decided to take some of it home. However, when Dylan showed his discoveries to his mother, she became suspicious.

"She said, 'That looks like human bones', and at first, I didn't think much of it as I thought it may have been an animal bone, but then I started to question myself," Christopher told BBC.

"My sister has a few friends who are doctors and vets. So the group chat was in full swing and it was only a few days later during Sunday dinner that I was speaking to her and she said 'yeah it looks like a human bone'."

Christopher quickly contacted the police and told them everything.

"I was panicking. I thought 'What have I got myself into?'

"I explained everything to the police and where I found it."

South Wales Police looked around the area for a couple of days. Eventually, they confirmed that what Christopher and Dylan found were ancient remains.

"I told Dylan and he thought it was really cool," said Christopher.

Earlier, ancient human bones were found at the beach when an old wall collapsed. Tests on the bones indicated they could be from people who died in shipwrecks from the 16th to possibly the 18th centuries.

Historian Graham Loveluck-Edwards revealed two possibilities, "We know that in the prehistoric period, people in the area would often inter their dead in caves. We've got an example of that in Paviland over on the Gower," he said.

"We also have archaeological evidence of a pitched battle that took place near here in the 1st Century."

Reportedly, the interior minister was assaulted by a youth as he arrived at a local television station to record an interview after announcing the curfew. A young man in his 20s asked to talk to Darmanin and, when the minister extended his hand, allegedly grabbed him by the shoulders and arms. Quickly reacting, the security pulled the young man back, who was arrested, witnesses told AFP. The minister was not hurt in the encounter.

Sundhnukagigar has been erupting for about four weeks. As per AFP, on March 16, lava burst out of a crack in the ground and has been flowing ever since.

According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office's&nbsp;(IMO)&nbsp;most recent measurements from April 9, it was pumping out some 3.6 cubic metres of lava per second.

"It's continuing at a pretty stable rate at the moment, and we don't see any real signs that it will end in the near future," IMO geophysicist Benedikt Ofeigsson told AFP.

As per the Washington Post, volcanic activity in the Reykjanes Peninsula had not been active for 800 years before the recent eruptions. Volcanologists believe that a new era of seismic activity has begun in the region.

The volcanic activity was reawakened in March 2021, when an eruption near Mount Fagradalsfjall lasted six months, reports AFP.

Magma, as per the report, is making its way through the Earth's upper crust from a depth of at least 10 kilometres (6.21 miles). Additionally, ground rising, also known as inflation, has been observed in the nearby area of Svartsengi, where a geothermal plant that provides electricity and water to 30,000 people on the peninsula is located.

The inflation&nbsp;as per geophysicist Benedikt Ofeigsson suggests that "all the magma coming from this depth doesn't have the capacity to go straight to the surface (and) is partly stored in this magma storage in Svartsengi."

But as per Nolan Church, ex-Google recruiter, this is not a smart thing to do.

“There is a truism in recruiting that the best people are not looking for jobs,” he was quoted as saying by CNBC.

The same views were offered by Lindsay Mustain, a former Amazon recruiter and current career coach.

Lindsay Mustain, in a conversation with CNBC said, “Recruiters want to want you, not the other way around”, and the hiring game is all about “power dynamics”.

Having the “open to work” badge on your profile may make the recruiter think, “because you need something from me, that means that I have the power in this conversation,” says Mustain.

However, not all recruiters agree with the two former recruiters.
