<p>Ukraine has warned that there will be a "third world war" if it loses the conflict with Russia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to BBC on Wednesday (Apr 18) in Washington, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal voiced the warning while urging the United States Congress to pass a long-stalled foreign aid bill.</p>

<h2><strong>'Careful optimism'</strong></h2>

<p>Shmyhal, as per BBC, expressed "careful optimism" that the US lawmakers would pass the measure that has $61 billion earmarked for Ukraine.</p>

<p>"We need this money yesterday, not tomorrow, not today," said the Ukrainian leader about the much-awaited US assistance.</p>

<p>Earlier, too, Ukraine has voiced similar alarming warnings about the possible consequences its defeat in the battle with Russia will bring. Just last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned that after Ukraine, Russia would move on to invade Poland, triggering World War III.</p>

'This is our 1937 moment': Army chief says UK must be prepared to 'fight war and win' against Russia

<p>One of the close allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that London would be bombed first as the potential NATO target if World War III erupts.</p>

<p>Andrey Gurulyov, a member of Russia’s parliament’s defence committee, made these chilling remarks while speaking to Russian state-controlled Channel 1.&nbsp;He was discussing how a possible full-scale invasion of NATO’s Baltic state members would work out, reports UK-based Metro newspaper.</p>

<p>“We’ll destroy the entire group of enemy’s space satellites during the first air operation,” said lieutenant-general Gurulyov, a senior commander who now represents United Russia, the main pro-Vladimir Putin political party.</p>

<p>The move to bomb the UK first as a NATO member would trigger clause five of the military alliance and might lead to World War Three.</p>

<p>Article 5 states that if a NATO Ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of&nbsp;violence&nbsp;as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked.</p>

<p>‘No-one will care if they are American or British, we would see them all as NATO. Second, we’ll mitigate the entire system of anti-missile defence, everywhere and 100 per cent. Third, we certainly won’t start from Warsaw, Paris or Berlin,” he was quoted as saying.</p>

<p>“The first to be hit will be London. It’s crystal clear that the threat to the world comes from the Anglo-Saxons,” he added.</p>

<p>He said the invasion of Baltic countries was the only way to prevent the West from blockading Kaliningrad, a Russian semi-exclave between Lithuania and Poland.</p>

The move to bomb the UK first as a NATO member would trigger clause five of the military alliance and might lead to World War Three. Article 5 states that if a NATO Ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked. ‘No-one will care if they are American or British, we would see them all as NATO. <p>“If Peresvet blinds, then the new generation of laser weapons lead to the physical destruction of the target — thermal destruction, they burn up,”&nbsp;Reuters quoted him as saying on Russian state television.</p>

<p>He called “Zadira” the most powerful laser system than Peresvet.</p>

<p>However, Ukraine President Vlodomyr Zelensky trashed the claims by drawing parallels to Nazi Germany’s “so-called wonder weapons” that were “unveiled in a bid to prevent defeat in World War Two.”</p>

<p>“The clearer it became that they had no chance in the war, the more propaganda there was about an amazing weapon that would be so powerful as to ensure a turning point,”&nbsp;Reuters&nbsp;quoted him as saying in a late night video address.</p>

<p>1) Russian leader Vladimir Putin had unveiled an array of new and deadly weapons in 2018, including an intercontinental ballistic missile, underwater nuclear drones, a supersonic weapon and a laser system.</p>

<p>2) Little is known about the specifics of the new laser. Putin back then mentioned Peresvet, named after a medieval Orthodox warrior monk Alexander Peresvet who perished in mortal combat.</p>

<p>"Knowing how everything works around here, it's impossible — there is no chance — that we will give up,” she said while suggesting that the Russian citizens would be ok if the Russian establishment uses nuclear warheads.</p>

<p>“What is happening right now is not about Ukraine, but about the future world order, which has no room for hegemony and where Russia can’t be isolated,” she added.</p>

<p>Simonyan continued saying, “Everything will end with a nuclear strike is more probable than the other outcome. This is to my horror, on one hand, but on the other hand, with the understanding that it is what it is."</p>

<p>To which Vladimir Solovyov added, "But we will go to heaven, while they will simply croak."</p>

<p>Notably, the meeting saw a major announcement from Germany, which pledged to deliver tanks to Ukraine in a radical switch in policy on the supply of military equipment&nbsp;to the country.</p>

<p>Similarly, the United States has also pledged to move “heaven and Earth” to help Ukraine win its battle against the Russian invasion.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the United States had approved a US&nbsp;$165 million sale of ammunition for Ukraine's war effort, along with more than US $300 million in foreign military financing.</p>

<p>The U.S. State Department's special representative for Iran, Brian Hook, said in Washington that Iranian threats risked further isolating the country.</p>

<p>But Russia lent Iran some support over the airliner disaster, saying it had been shot down when Tehran was spooked by reports of advanced U.S. stealth fighters in the area.</p>

<p>"I'd like to underline the edginess that always accompanies such situations," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.</p>

<p>Head of the elite Quds Force, a foreign arm of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Soleimani on Friday was killed in US strikes in Baghdad airport.</p>

<p>Later in the day, a statement by the US State Department said that the killing was authorised by US President Donald Trump.&nbsp;&nbsp;Muhandis, an adviser to Soleimani, was also killed in the strike.</p>

<p>So far Trump has not reacted&nbsp;officially on the killing but earlier in the Day he tweeted an image of the&nbsp;US flag.</p>
