In one case, a wheelchair-bound paraplegic Russian man received his orders to join the army in its invasion of Ukraine. Oleg Vasiliev, a man who can barely move his body due to spinal muscular atrophy has been ordered to report to his local draft office.

PDM News reports that Dmitry has been released from his summons.&nbsp;

"I went to the military enlistment office in the morning, they checked my documents and released me. No one is calling me, just checking documents and that’s it," he said.

This comes as hundreds attempt to flee Russia, trying to escape joining the war, with many spending thousands of dollars on private flight seats out of Russia.&nbsp;

Russia summons wheelchair-bound man to fight in the Ukrainian war

Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened of more 'severe' attacks on Ukraine on the same day Russia pounded its western neighbour with missile strikes across the country. Putin issued the warning in televised comments addressed to his security council.

The 'terrorist attack' Putin mentioned is an apparent reference to truck bomb explosion on Kerch bridge, a key bridge connecting Russia with Russia-occupied Crimea. Ukraine has not accpeted responsibility for the explosion but Putin has blamed Ukraine.

The bridge is vital to Russia's war effort in southern Ukraine as it transports soldiers and military equipment from Russia to Crimea.

Putin warns of more 'severe' attacks as Russian missiles pound Ukraine

After a part of&nbsp;the Crimean bridge collapsed after an explosion, Russian President Vladimir Putin ramped up the security arrangements and deployed additional forces there.

The 19-kilometre bridge—which was seen as a symbol of the Kremlin’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula—was hit by a blast on October 8. The explosion claimed the lives of three people and set several oil tankers ablaze, according to Russian officials.

Following the heavy damage, Putin had tasked Federal Security Service (FSB) to oversee the key connector to the occupied peninsula, reports BBC.

So far, it is unknown who caused the blast, but Kyiv hinted at the role of the Ukrainian forces with two Twitter posts— “sick burn” and “hey Crimea, what’s new?”

President Volodymyr Zelensky also acknowledged the incident in his nightly address on Saturday.

"Today was not a bad day and mostly sunny on our state's territory…Unfortunately, it was cloudy in Crimea. Although it was also warm," he said.

Meanwhile, Russia swiftly reopened those parts of the key connector that are still intact. On Saturday, the bridge was partially reopened to road and rail traffic.

Moscow-appointed governor of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, expressed the desire for revenge, but made reassurances that the peninsula still had a month's fuel and food for more than two months.

Hong Kong, however, has said it will not take such action after the 142-metre (466-foot) yacht was spotted west of the city by eagle-eyed locals on Thursday.

The Marine Department said it implements United Nations sanctions but not those imposed by individual nations or blocs.

"The Hong Kong government does not implement, nor do we have the legal authority to take action on, unilateral sanctions imposed by other jurisdictions," a spokesperson told AFP on Friday.

Mordashov, the main shareholder in steelmaker Severstal, is among Russia's ultrawealthy, who have long been major buyers of superyachts -- pleasure vessels classed as more than 30 metres long.

These yachts have become targets for Ukraine's Western allies, who are hunting for the assets of sanctioned figures as they seek to punish Moscow for the Ukraine invasion.

The Nord sailed to the eastern Russian port of Vladivostok after the war began and had been anchored there since March, Bloomberg News reported.

Marine tracking websites showed the US$500 million vessel -- which boasts two helipads, a cinema and more than a dozen luxury cabins, left Vladivostok last week.

It initially indicated that it was heading for the Vietnamese port of Da Nang.

A spokesperson for Mordashov told Bloomberg News on Thursday that the billionaire was in Moscow and declined to comment on the yacht's movements.

In March, Italy seized the Lady M, a yacht belonging to Mordashov, citing EU sanctions.

Vessels arriving in Hong Kong must present a list of crew members and passengers who must pass through immigration.

Foreign yachts cannot stay for more than 182 consecutive days according to the Hong Kong Standard newspaper.

Hong Kong's current leader John Lee is himself sanctioned by the United States alongside multiple local and mainland Chinese officials for their ongoing crackdown on political freedoms in the business hub.

China has conspicuously not condemned the invasion of Ukraine, and said it has a "no-limits" relationship with Russia.

The next-generation weapon was announced by the Russian president back in 2018. As per Russian media, the doomsday weapon can travel up to 6,000 miles under water. It packs an explosion of two megatonnes. For context, this is more than 130 times the nuclear explosion of "Little Boy", the atomic bomb that wrecked Hiroshima in Japan back in August 1945 during World War II.

As&nbsp;per Naval News, "It is a giant torpedo which can hit coastal cities with devastating results. Compared to an intercontinental ballistic missile it is very slow, but possibly unstoppable."

Italian publication La Reppubblica quoted an expert HI Sutton as saying that Poseidon "is a completely new category of weapon - which will oblige a change in the planning of the western navies, leading to the definition of new requirements and new means to counter it".

As per Daily Mail, the weapon has never been tested thanks to the international prohibition on testing of nuclear weapons, and if Russia does test it now, this would mark a highly "provocative" move by the nation.

How did Ukraine react to the warning?

Pravda reports that Ukraine, which has for the past few months been facing aggression and destruction at the hands of Russia, has urged the media not to spread disinformation and called the information manipulative.&nbsp;

As per a Facebook post by Ukraine's National Security and Defence of Ukraine [NSDC], "information about the submarine 'Belgorod' can play on the hand of Russian propaganda".

The cash, including some inadvertently donated by Russian soldiers, has been used by a Ukrainian group to buy sniper scopes, rifle accessories, clothing and vehicles to ferry Ukrainian troops to frontlines, he said. "Sometimes I would meet orcs (Russians) who would actually put money in my pail," he said, a smirk deepening the wrinkles around his eyes. "Maybe it was because I am handicapped." "I would start (each morning) on my street," Yanchenko told Reuters at the office of the Zaporizhzhia aid group that has cared for him since he fled Kherson. "You go out, but you don't know if you are returning home." Yanchenko, who served in the Soviet airborne forces from 1966-1969, has been trying to support Ukrainian soldiers since Russia-backed separatists seized parts of eastern Ukraine in 2014. First, he and his friends organised a benefit concert. Then they began collecting food, clothing and other supplies. Galena Goncharenko, a founder of the Soldiers Shelter aid group in Zaporizhzhia who has cooperated with Yanchenko since 2015, said he had called her in March to ask if he could send her the donations from Kherson. Despite the risks, Yanchenko also joined street protests against the Russian occupation, some of which were dispersed with warning shots. On Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24, he went out with a Ukrainian flag in his cart's basket and wearing a black vyshyvanka, an embroidered Ukrainian shirt worn as a talisman against evil. Flight To Safety When Yanchenko went home, neighbours told him he was being tailed, and he decided it was time to flee Kherson, his home for 57 years when an officer of Russia's FSB internal security service confronted him and a friend on the street. "He said, 'Grandpa, you're rolling for your last days'," Yanchenko recalled. His friend hid him for three days before driving him and his wheelchair to Kherson's docks for a pre-dawn crossing of the Dnieper River. "He put me on a boat," Yanchenko said. "On the other side...they quickly put me in the minivan." Children also evacuated from Kherson clustered around him in the back until the van reached the last Russian checkpoint before Ukrainian-controlled territory. A Russian soldier found a problem with the driver's documents and with a red marker wrote "Back home" on the windscreen. "This is where I felt everything collapse because if I went home, that's it. I was gone. They were going to arrest me," Yanchenko said. But the driver persuaded another Russian soldier to let the vehicle through, and Yanchenko, whose wife of 51 years died in 2020, now sits in his wheelchair outside a Zaporizhzhia mall, a portable speaker playing patriotic songs as he collects more donations. On Monday, the Duma unanimously approved the bills regarding the proposed annexation.

“This process is the logical continuation of the unification of Russian lands that began in 2014 with the return to Russia of the republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol,” Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, who presented the bills to parliament, told local media according to Reuters.

“Both the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia will keep their names as new territories of the Russian Federation”, authorities said in the Duma.

Apart from keeping their names, the Russian parliament also approved that the official language in the regions will be Russian and they will also be using the Ruble as their official currency.

The Federation Council – the Russian Senate or the upper house of the parliament – will be voting on the annexation on Tuesday. However, Ukraine has challenged the entire process as they pointed out that the four regions are not currently under control of the Russian forces.

According to a Danish-Swedish investigation released on Friday, the four breaches impacting the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea were brought on by underwater explosions equivalent to hundreds of kilogrammes of explosives.&nbsp;

The two nations stated in a joint report to the UN Security Council that "the size of the explosions was measured at 2.3 and 2.1 on the Richter Scale, respectively, possibly equal to an explosive load of several hundred kilogrammes."&nbsp;

Given that Snowden has no prior military experience in the Russian army, according to Snowden's attorney Anatoly Kucherena, he would not be called up for duty.

As per AFP,&nbsp;Moscow's rigorous citizenship requirements were relaxed a few years ago to allow people to hold Russian passports without giving up their original nationalities.

A local member of the Russian military draft committee was shot by a man in Siberia who had refused to join the Ukrainian war, according to reports.

The incident is said to have taken place on Monday in Irkutsk region’s Ust-Ilimsk city, a town of 85,000 people.

A video going viral on Twitter shows the man dressed in camouflage, shooting the Russian military officer at point blank range at the draft office while other conscripts flee.&nbsp;WION could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Moments before opening the fire, the gunman told the official, “Nobody is going to go anywhere”, a witness told the Baikal People news outlet.

He was immediately arrested and his rifle was seized. The gunman has been identified as 25-year-old Ruslan Zinin.

"Make sure that partial mobilisation is carried out in full and complete compliance with the criteria. And without a single mistake!," she added.
