He said Rohit should be India's captain in the next two T20 World Cups. "I think (of) Rohit Sharma (as captain) for the next two World Cups," Gavaskar said on the Star Sports show 'Cricket Connected'.

Gavaskar added, "You could say they (World Cups) are back-to-back, one starting in a month and another exactly a year from now. So clearly, yes, you don't want to change too many captains at this particular stage.

"Rohit Sharma would definitely be my choice for captaincy of the Indian team for both these T20 World Cups."&nbsp;

Rohit led India to victory in the Nidahas Trophy T20 tournament and Asia Cup in 2018, which was played in the ODI format.

Glenn Maxwell justified his million dollar contract with an all-round performance before Harshal Patel took a hat-trick to ensure a thumping 54-run victory for Royal Challengers Bangalore over Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League here on Sunday.

Maxwell (56 off 37 balls and 2/23) produced one of his better efforts in the IPL while Harshal (4/17 in 3.1 overs), the current Purple Cap holder removed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar off successive deliveries to defend a target of 165 without breaking much sweat.

MI were all-out for 111 in 18.1 overs, losing 10 wickets for 54 runs after being 57 for no loss at one stage.

Rohit teed off with three boundaries in a single over from Kyle Jamieson. MI looked in complete control during the Powerplay as Quinton de Kock also got a few boundaries.

However it was Chahal, who removed de Kock and then Ishan Kishan's full-blooded shot was just about parried away by Rohit, who was hit on the left wrist trying to avoid a body blow.

That must have affected his concentration as he tried to hit a second six off Maxwell having hit one in the earlier over but this time was pouched by Devdutt Padikkal at the long-on boundary much to the delight of rival skipper Kohli.

Ishan Kishan (9 off 12 balls), who has barely managed 100 runs in nine IPL matches this season, would increase the worry of national selectors as he played an irresponsible hoick against the turn off Chahal and Krunal Pandya (5) then trying to break the logjam was bowled by Maxwell.

However, what disappointed the MI skipper most was how Surykumar Yadav (8) chased a wide yorker from Mohammed Siraj to give simple catch to short third man as MI slumped to 97 for 5 with recovery looking implausible.

Then Harshal got his hattrick to finish off the proceedings in style.

Earlier, Maxwell finally came good with an attacking 56 after skipper Kohli's second consecutive half-century, taking Royal Challengers Bangalore to a par-score of 165/6.

While many have touted AB de Villiers to lead the side after Kohli, former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has named a former RCB star as a perfect long-term captaincy replacement for Kohli. Steyn wants Punjab Kings (PBKS) superstar KL Rahul to return to RCB and lead the side.

Rahul is currently leading Punjab Kings in IPL and has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the league over the last few years. Rahul was part of the RCB squad but was let go of by the franchise ahead of the 2018 season before being picked by Punjab Kings in the auction.

"If RCB are going to look at a long-term contender as captain, they should be looking within their own borders. The name I've got is an ex-Bangalore player. It's KL Rahul. I just have a feeling he is going to return back to Bangalore in next year's auction," Steyn told ESPNCricinfo. RCB, who have never won an IPL title, had earlier lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets in the opening match of the second leg of the tournament here where they could only score a dismal 92 runs. 
 
"The wicket did slow down a bit. But I feel we left out 15-20 runs out there. 175 would`ve been a winning total. Didn`t bowl consistently. Didn`t show that much courage I guess with the ball. They (CSK) bowled well in the back end of the innings, executed the slower balls and yorkers nicely," Kohli said after the match. 
 
The 32-year-old stated that they "have to show more courage in crunch moments" and also, asserts that they have to get back on that winning form again. 
 
The two losses have seen RCB`s fortunes dip sharply and they are currently third on the table with 10 points from nine games behind CSK and Delhi Capitals who hold first and second place respectively with 14 points apiece. Rajasthan Royal, who have played a game less, could push RCB further down if they win the next game. 
 
"We spoke of areas we didn`t want them to hit and we didn`t do that. That little bit of X factor was missing in the first 5-6 overs. Got to get on that winning run again. This one is a bit more disappointing. The first one we just weren`t in the game. Have to show more courage in crunch moments. This tournament goes by quickly," he added.
