Iran&nbsp;said Monday it will&nbsp;only&nbsp;return&nbsp;to&nbsp;Vienna&nbsp;in order to&nbsp;finalise&nbsp;an agreement to revive its landmark 2015&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;deal&nbsp;with world powers, with the last steps dependent on Washington.

Tehran has been engaged in long-running negotiations in the Austrian capital to revive the&nbsp;deal, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia directly, and the United States indirectly.

"We will not be going to&nbsp;Vienna&nbsp;for new negotiations but to&nbsp;finalise&nbsp;the&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;agreement," foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters in Tehran.

However,&nbsp;Iran&nbsp;said there were still outstanding issues that it was waiting on Washington to settle.

"At the moment, we do not yet have a definitive answer from Washington," Khatibzadeh said.

"If Washington answers the outstanding questions, we can go to&nbsp;Vienna&nbsp;as soon as possible."

The JCPOA gave&nbsp;Iran&nbsp;sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;programme to guarantee that Tehran could not develop or acquire an atomic bomb -- something it has always denied wanting to do.

But the US unilateral withdrawal from the accord in 2018 under then-president Donald Trump, who reimposed biting economic sanctions which prompted&nbsp;Iran&nbsp;to begin rolling back its own commitments.

'Final phase'

The&nbsp;Vienna&nbsp;talks aim to&nbsp;return&nbsp;the US to the&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;deal, including through the lifting of sanctions on&nbsp;Iran, and to ensure Tehran's full compliance with its commitments.

Nearly a year of negotiations have brought the parties close to renewing the 2015 accord.

But the talks were halted last month, after Russia demanded guarantees that Western sanctions imposed following its invasion of Ukraine would not damage its trade with&nbsp;Iran.

Among the key sticking points is Tehran's demand to remove from the US terror list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the ideological arm of&nbsp;Iran's military.

On Wednesday, the US Treasury announced measures targeting several entities it accused of involvement in procuring supplies for&nbsp;Iran's ballistic missile programme.

A day later, Khatibzadeh said Washington's imposition of the fresh sanctions on the Islamic Republic showed its "ill will" towards&nbsp;Iran.

On Monday, Khatibzadeh levelled further criticism at the US.

"Today, in the final phase, the United States seeks to deprive&nbsp;Iran&nbsp;of the economic benefits of the agreement," Khatibzadeh said.

On Sunday, however,&nbsp;Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said an agreement was "close", during a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Iran's&nbsp;chief&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;negotiator&nbsp;Ali Bagheri Kani will return to&nbsp;Vienna&nbsp;on Sunday evening for&nbsp;talks&nbsp;on resolving the remaining issues in indirect negotiations with the United States to revive a 2015 deal, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Bagheri Kani, who flew to Tehran last week for consultations with Iranian officials, will "pursue the negotiations with a clear agenda aimed at resolving" the remaining issues, IRNA said.

It did not name the sticking points, but the main remaining disputes appear to include the extent of sanctions rollback and questions about uranium traces found at several old but undeclared sites.

"No restriction on time can prevent the continuation of the&nbsp;talks&nbsp;for a good agreement," Nournews added.

Iran has made clear it wants an end to the oil and banking sanctions that are hurting its economy, while insisting also on the lifting of human rights and terrorism-related curbs.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said Tehran was ready to "immediately conclude" a deal in&nbsp;talks&nbsp;to revive its 2015&nbsp;nuclear&nbsp;accord with world powers if Western powers show real will.

"Seriously reviewing draft of the agreement...Our red lines are made clear to Western parties. Ready to immediately conclude a good deal, should they show real will," Amirabdollahian said on Twitter.

Ambirabdollahin is due on Tuesday to report to the Iranian parliament on the progress of the&nbsp;talks, local media said.

The WHO had warned that 700,000 more people could die from coronavirus by March 2022, taking the total to above 2.2 million. WHO had said that it is expected that there will be high or extreme stress on hospital beds in 25 countries.

As per police, crowds of nearly 35,000 people gathered in the city whistling, clapping and banging drums. Many were seen waving Austrian and other flags. Protestors were also seen with placards that read “no to vaccination”, “enough is enough” or “down with the fascist dictatorship”.

The Dutch police fired warning shots on protestors in Rotterdam who were angered by the new restrictions introduced to battle the deadly coronavirus. The police also used water cannons to disperse demonstrators as they set off fireworks in one of the main shopping streets.&nbsp;

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, confirmed Iran was now producing uranium enriched to 60 percent purity, taking the country closer to the 90-percent level required for use in a nuclear weapon.

"The enrichment of uranium to 60 percent is underway" in Natanz, he was quoted by Tasnim news agency as saying. 
Iran has repeatedly insisted it is not seeking atomic weapons, but it has gradually rolled back its nuclear commitments since 2019, the year after Washington withdrew from the accord and began imposing sanctions.

"So currently we should do away with all disruptive factors, moving forward as swiftly as we can on the work of negotiation, especially by zeroing in on sanctions-lifting."

Iran`s foreign ministry said its negotiators had defended their decisions and expressed their disappointment at "the weak reaction" from European powers to the attack on Natanz.

The 2015 nuclear deal was struck with Iran by USA, Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia. Iran's refusal to hold direct talks with the US has had European intermediaries shuttling between separate hotels in Vienna last week. Senior diplomats, excluding the United States, initially met to set the tone on Thursday in what diplomats anticipated would be a tougher round of talks to salvage the pact. "Currently I think the nuclear working group is more advanced, much more advanced, than (the) sanctions-lifting working group," Wang Qun, China`s ambassador to the U.N. atomic watchdog, told reporters after the Joint Commission meeting of senior officials. "So currently we should do away with all disruptive factors, moving forward as swiftly as we can on the work of negotiation, especially by zeroing in on sanctions-lifting." Iran`s foreign ministry said its negotiators had defended their decisions and expressed their disappointment at "the weak reaction" from European powers to the attack on Natanz.
