Twitterati troll Yahoo Finance for making racist typo in tweet

<p>One of Netflix Inc&#39;s Twitter accounts was hacked on Wednesday by an entity calling itself &quot;OurMine&quot;.</p>

<p>Several mocking tweets were sent from the Netflix US Twitter account (@netflix).&nbsp;</p>

<p>A debate is percolating in the US&nbsp;State Department, where diplomats measure their words with demitasse spoons, on how to handle Donald Trump&#39;s Twitter commentary if he continues to tweet after he becomes US&nbsp;president on January 20.</p>

<p>By tradition, anything the president says is regarded as US&nbsp;policy and can be repeated to foreign officials without fear of contradiction, at least from the White House.</p>

<p>But Trump has questioned bedrock planks of US&nbsp;policy, such as whether Taiwan is part of &quot;one China&quot; or whether Washington would defend NATO allies, causing consternation at home and abroad.</p>

<p>&quot;I have never hesitated to take anything that POTUS said in speeches, press conferences, and other remarks as anything but policy,&quot; a midlevel diplomat who has served on four continents wrote December 7 on an internal State Department discussion board, in reference to the President of the United States (POTUS).</p>

<p>A Saudi woman was arrested in the capital for posting pictures of herself without a veil on Twitter, police said on Monday.</p>

<p>The unnamed woman caused an outrage last month after she posed&nbsp;for a picture without the hijab (a veil that covers the women&#39;s head and chest) in a street in Riyadh.</p>

<p>Several websites identified her as Malak al-Shehri.</p>

<p>Police spokesman Fawaz al-Maiman said the woman tweeted a photo of herself standing next to a popular Riyadh cafe but without wearing the Islamic headscarf that is required in Saudi society, news agency AFP reported.</p>

<p>Maiman also accused her of &quot;speaking openly about prohibited relations with (non-related) men&quot;. The woman was taken to prison, he said.</p>

<p>&quot;Riyadh police stress that the action of this woman violates the laws applied in this country,&quot; Maiman said, urging the public to &quot;adhere to the teachings of Islam&quot;.</p>

Fantastic Beasts: JK Rowling reveals timeline, answers fans' queries

<p>Twitter Inc&nbsp;said on Wednesday that Chief Operating Officer Adam Bain, widely credited with building a robust advertising business at the company even as it struggled with user growth, is leaving to explore other opportunities.</p>

<p>&quot;Mr. Bain will remain at Twitter in the coming weeks to assist with the transition of the chief operating officer role,&quot; the company said.</p>

<p>The move is a blow for struggling Twitter, which has hired bankers to field acquisition offers but has seen a dearth of potential bidders. The company said last month it would cut 9 per cent of its global workforce to keep costs down.</p>

<p>Twitter shares were down 4.3 per cent in after-hours trading.</p>

<p>Bain will be replaced by Chief Financial Officer Anthony Noto, the company said, adding it would begin a search for a new CFO.</p>

<p>Noto, who became the finance chief in 2014, will continue to manage the live content business as well as Twitter&#39;s global advertising sales, data and mobile ad exchange MoPub.</p>

<p>Bain joined Twitter in 2010 when it had almost no revenue and built an advertising sales machine that generated some $2.2 billion last year. A popular executive who was once considered a possible chief executive for the company, Bain was named COO in October last year.</p>

<p>&quot;I think Adam Bain is the most competent person at Twitter,&quot; said Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter. &quot;The one part of the business that actually worked was the part he works on, which is advertising.&quot;</p>

<p>Twitter, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, has yet to make a profit. Co-founder Jack Dorsey returned as chief executive last year but has yet to ignite growth, with the number of users stagnating at slightly more than 300 million for several quarters.</p>

<p>After falling to its lowest point ever earlier this year, Twitter shares were boosted recently on hopes the company will gain traction or a make a promising match with a suitor.</p>

<p>Twitter was expected to begin accepting bids this week.</p>

<p>The social messaging platform would be a big-ticket item, with its value based on the share price topping $17 billion on Wednesday, and the company likely to want a premium to be paid.</p>

<p>No suitors have declared interest in Twitter publicly, however.</p>

<p>The list of companies that may still seek to buy Twitter includes entertainment giant Disney, Microsoft, and the US telecom service Verizon.</p>
