US President Donald Trump on Sunday (May 31) touted his cognitive health as “extreme intelligence” after the White House released his medical check-up results days before. The medical examination, which happened on Tuesday (May 31) at the Walter Reed Military Hospital near Washington, comes weeks before his 80th birthday on June 14. The second-term president, whose frequent snoozing at public events and bruised hands slathered in makeup have constantly been making headlines, is in “excellent health”, claims the White House physician in a memo released on Friday (May 29).“The results of my Physical Examination, taken at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, and just released, were extremely good,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Unlike other U.S. Presidents, none of whom have ever taken an approved, high difficulty, Cognitive Test, I scored a perfect 30 out of 30, considered ‘extreme intelligence.’”He further added, targeting Democrats, “Are the Dumocrats really surprised? In fact, this is my fourth such test, all PERFECT or, 120 correct answers out of 120 questions asked! It is very rare that anyone gets a Perfect Score, especially when achieved four times in a row.”“All people running for President and Vice President should be forced to take high difficulty Cognitive Tests. Congress, and the Democrats, should demand it!” he said.<h2>What did Trump’s medical report reveal?</h2>Trump’s physician said that the 79-year-old president was in “excellent health” but advised him to lose weight. According to the memo published by the White House, US Navy Captain Sean Barbabella said, “President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function.” In the three-page report, Barbabella concluded that Trump is “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”“Preventative counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss,” the memo read. It added that Trump’s cardiac age is estimated to be “approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.”Regarding the repeated questions over frequent bruising seen on the president’s back of hand and swollen ankles, the memo said, “Examination of the dorsal hands revealed ecchymosis (bruising), consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.”The US president has often been seen dozing at several White House events. Despite several of him seen apparently closing his eyes having gone viral on social media, Trump has repeatedly denied that he fell asleep.Last year, the White House revealed that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency – a common condition in which faulty vein valves allow blood to pool, causing swelling, cramping and skin changes. Trump takes annual physical just days before 80th birthday as health questions mount

Just nine days after President Donald Trump announced in a pre-dawn social media post that America had attacked Iran, the president said: “We have already won in many ways.”Two days later, at a campaign rally in Kentucky: “We won in the first hour.” By the end of March, there were several additional declarations of victory, including “We won. The war is over.”Fifty days after the February 28 war announcement, the only place where the war is actually over, and peace is near, is in the alternative universe inhabited by Trump. On April 18, four days before a fragile two-week ceasefire was to end, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz just a day after having declared it open to traffic. Iranian state media declared the U.S. had failed to hold up its end of the bargain by blockading Iranian ports. How the present stalemate will be resolved is anyone’s guess, but it confirms that the American war of choice, dubbed Operation Epic Fury by Washington, would better be called Operation Epic Miscalculation.Trump’s repeated claims of victory are based on the fact that the American attack killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and the top tier of the Iranian government on the first day and damaged or destroyed dozens of missile factories and industrial; installations. It left intact the institutions of a dictatorial state and failed to crush its most powerful military establishment, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Its units responded to the American attack by using its sizeable arsenal of missiles to attack Gulf countries hosting U.S. military bases.A series of confused, contradictory and often extreme statements since the beginning of the war have stirred a growing and unusually public debate over the mental acuity of Trump. He turns 80 in June and began his second term in office as the oldest person ever to move into the White House. You might be forgiven for thinking that the war with Iran and its global implications – the Straits of Hormuz carries twenty per cent of the world’s oil – would keep the president too busy to pick rhetorical fights with high-profile critics.Such as Pope Leo XIV, the first American-born pope, is the spiritual leader of 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide. The pope enraged his fellow Americans by condemning the war on Iran and branding as “unacceptable” Trump’s actions and rhetoric, specifically a threat to destroy Iran’s civilisation. In a social media post, Trump responded by calling the pope “weak on crime and terrible for foreign policy.”This had a foreign policy follow-up: A noisy row with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, a right-wing conservative long considered the European leader closest to Trump. Just nine days after President Donald Trump announced in a pre-dawn social media post that America had attacked Iran, the president said: “We have already won in many ways.” Two days later, at a campaign rally in Kentucky: “We won in the first hour.” By the end of March, there were several additional declarations of victory, including “We won. The war is over.” Fifty days after the February 28 war announcement, the only place where the war is actually over, and peace is near, is in the alternative universe inhabited by Trump. On April 18, four days before a fragile two-week ceasefire was to end, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz just a day after having declared it open to traffic. Iranian state media declared the U.S. had failed to hold up its end of the bargain by blockading Iranian ports. How the present stalemate will be resolved is anyone’s guess, but it confirms that the American war of choice, dubbed Operation Epic Fury by Washington, would better be called Operation Epic Miscalculation. Trump’s repeated claims of victory are based on the fact that the American attack killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and the top tier of the Iranian government on the first day and damaged or destroyed dozens of missile factories and industrial; installations. It left intact the institutions of a dictatorial state and failed to crush its most powerful military establishment, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Its units responded to the American attack by using its sizeable arsenal of missiles to attack Gulf countries hosting U.S. military bases. A series of confused, contradictory and often extreme statements since the beginning of the war have stirred a growing and unusually public debate over the mental acuity of Trump. He turns 80 in June and began his second term in office as the oldest person ever to move into the White House. You might be forgiven for thinking that the war with Iran and its global implications – the Straits of Hormuz carries twenty per cent of the world’s oil – would keep the president too busy to pick rhetorical fights with high-profile critics. Such as Pope Leo XIV, the first American-born pope, is the spiritual leader of 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide. The pope enraged his fellow Americans by condemning the war on Iran and branding as “unacceptable” Trump’s actions and rhetoric, specifically a threat to destroy Iran’s civilisation. In a social media post, Trump responded by calling the pope “weak on crime and terrible for foreign policy.” This had a foreign policy follow-up: A noisy row with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, a right-wing conservative long considered the European leader closest to Trump. She described Trump’s attack on the pope as “unacceptable” and he shot back by accusing her of being indifferent to the threat of Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon. This dispute did not go down well with many of the 53 million Roman Catholics in the United States, and neither did an AI-generated social media image he posted showing himself as a Christ-like figure. The image prompted so many complaints that it was taken down from his Truth Social platform. Trump explained that the picture showed him not as Christ but as a doctor tending to a sick patient. This and a long string of confusing and contradictory statements on the war have left many Americans with what New York Times writer Peter Baker described as “the impression of a deranged autocrat mad with power.” Presidential historians say that the mental stability of a president has never been discussed as publicly, not even that of Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, who declined visibly after a disastrous debate performance with Trump. How widely debated Trump’s mental acuity is was thrown into sharp focus by a reporter’s question during a televised press conference. “What is your response to critics who say that it is your mental health that should perhaps be examined as this war continues?” The question, from Danny Kemp, a reporter for Agence France-Presse, followed a Trump social media posting which said: “Open the f****ng Strait (of Hormuz), you crazy b*****ds, or you’ll be living in hell.” While other presidents have used profanities when talking about adversaries, they did so in private to aides, not in public at a nationally televised press briefing. Trump 2.0: At home and abroad, doubts over the president’s sanity

US President Donald Trump is once again facing renewed health concerns after appearing to face speech difficulties at the White House on Wednesday (Feb 11). The 79-year-old Republican’s rivals did not miss the opportunity to mock his gibberish caught on camera during his address. The US president also received an ‘Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal’ award from a pro-coal group for signing off on $175 million in federal funding to improve six coal plants in West Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina and Kentucky. However, his struggle to pronounce the name of the award drew him even more attention.“Trump, slurring: I’m proud to officially name the...undishpu..the...jshhhh...whendidthiscomeout,” former vice president Kamala Hariss’ Headquarters handle posted on X while sharing the video.Speaking at the event attended by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Trump said, “I’m proud to officially name the undispuut...” before stumbling on his words for about two seconds.“When did this come out? Mr Speaker,” he said before continuing, “The undisputed champion of beautiful, clean coal.”“We have to proceed, always—don’t use the word coal, you know, it needs a PR job,” he added.

US President Donald Trump’s niece has made a shocking claim, suggesting her uncle could be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Mary Trump, who often criticises her uncle, revealed that Trump often has a “deer-in-the-headlights” expression that reminds her of Trump’s father, who had Alzheimer’s. This comes amid frequent questions over the US president’s health.Fred Trump, Trump’s father, struggled with the degenerative disease before he died at the age of 93 in 1999.“Sometimes it does not seem like he’s oriented to time and place,” Mary Trump, 60, told New York Magazine of her uncle. “And on occasion, I do see that deer-in-the-headlights look.”Trump, 79, himself also addressed his father’s condition in an interview with the outlet. He is often seen with bruising on his hand, which he said was a result of the 325 milligrams of aspirin he takes daily. He said that while his doctors do not approve of the dosage, he told the outlet, “but it works for me”.“I’ve been doing it for 30 years, and I don’t want to change,” he said. “You know what? Following renewed concerns about the health of US President Donald Trump after he was seen wearing a bandage on his hand, the White House on Thursday (Dec 11) clarified the reason behind it. The 79-year-old president has faced repeated scrutiny over his health since he came back in power, with people questioning his physical and cognitive health. This time, the US president was seen wearing adhesive bandages on the back of his right hand in recent days. This comes after Trump on Tuesday blasted media reports questioning his health as “seditious, perhaps even treasonous”. Calling them “fake reports”, he said that no other US president has worked as hard as him, adding that his hours are the longest and the results are among the best.<h2>What did White House say regarding Trump’s bandaged hand?</h2>In a statement, Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt repeated the same reasons she did months ago when Trump was seen with a bruise on his right hand, which was covered by a thick layer of makeup, snubbing health concerns. Leavitt said that Trump was wearing the adhesive bandages due to the high volume of handshakes.“As for the bandages on the hand, we've also given you an explanation for that,” Leavitt told reporters. “In the past, the president is literally constantly shaking hands.”She added, “He’s also on a daily aspirin regimen, which is something his physical examinations has said in the past as well, which can contribute to the bruise that you see.”<h2>Trump health rumours</h2>Earlier in October, Trump underwent a medical examination, including an MRI scan. While the White House did not share details on why he underwent an MRI, Leavitt said that the results showed that the US president was in “exceptional physical health.”On November 30, Trump said that he would release the results of the MRI scan he underwent in October, but added that he has no idea what part of his body was scanned during the medical examination. Trump also claimed that he aced his cognitive test, contrary to speculations of mental decline made by his political rivals and the public.“Getting an MRI is very standard. What, you think I shouldn’t have it? Other people get it. I had an MRI,” Trump said. “It was just an MRI.”“What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and I aced it,” he said.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s vital signs Saturday were concerning as doctors mounted an aggressive effort to treat him and he was not out of danger, a person close to the situation said, even as the coronavirus infected an ever-widening swath of the president’s aides and&nbsp;allies.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-not-in-any-support-system-experiencing-no-breathing-problem-doctor-332321">Also Read: Trump experiencing no breathing problem, says Doctor</a>

While doctors maintained during a televised briefing that Trump was “doing very well” after a night at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, they refused to provide critical details and left open the impression that the president was known to be sick a day earlier than previously reported.

Shortly after the upbeat briefing by the doctors, a person familiar with the president’s health gave a more sober assessment to reporters at Walter Reed on the condition of anonymity.

“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,” this person said. “We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”

Two people close to the White House said in separate interviews with The New York Times that the president had trouble breathing Friday and that his oxygen level dropped, prompting his doctors to give him supplemental oxygen while at the White House and decide to transfer him to Walter Reed where he could be monitored with better equipment and treated more rapidly in case of trouble.

Dr. Sean P. Conley, the White House physician, told reporters outside Walter Reed that the president was not currently on supplemental oxygen Saturday but repeatedly declined to say definitively whether he had ever been on oxygen.

“None at this moment and yesterday with the team, while we were all here, he was not on oxygen,” he said, seeming to suggest that there was a period Friday when he was.

Conley likewise seemed to suggest that the president was first diagnosed with the virus Wednesday rather than Thursday night when Trump disclosed that he had tested positive on Twitter. While describing what he said was the president’s progress, he said Trump was “just 72 hours into the diagnosis now,” which would mean midday Wednesday.

Asked about that, Conley did not clarify but said that Thursday afternoon “we repeated testing and, given clinical indications, had a little bit more concern.” Late that night, he said “we got the PCR confirmation that he was” positive. Trump attended campaign events on both Wednesday night and Thursday, which would be after the point 72 hours earlier.

The confusion came from a briefing where Conley and his team offered a relentlessly positive assessment of Trump’s condition.

“This morning the president is doing very well,” Conley said. “At this time, the team and I are extremely happy with the progress the president has made.”

The doctors said Trump had been free of fever for 24 hours and had blood pressure and heart rates that were normal for him. Asked why he moved Trump to the hospital, Conley said, “Because he’s the president of the United States.”

Dr. Sean N. Dooley, another physician treating the president, said Trump was feeling optimistic.

“He’s in exceptionally good spirits,” Dooley said. He added that the president told his doctors, “I feel like I could walk out of here today.”

The outbreak claimed a third Republican senator Saturday as Ron Johnson of Wisconsin reported testing positive as did former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. Other Republicans close to Trump were being tested and awaiting results as the weekend opened. In the course of barely 24 hours, the president, his wife, his campaign manager, his party chairperson, his senior adviser, his former counselor and now three Republican senators have all tested positive for the virus, along with several reporters.

The White House medical unit was investigating Trump’s announcement of his nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court last weekend as a likely source of the virus’s spread. More than a half-dozen people who attended the event Sept. 26 or were with the president on Air Force One flying to a campaign rally in Pennsylvania later in the evening have now tested positive.

While the ceremony itself was outdoors in the Rose Garden, most of the people in attendance other than reporters were not wearing masks or keeping socially distant. A number of people also joined Trump and Barrett inside the White House for a reception, again without masks and in some cases shaking hands and hugging without evident regard for the dangers of the virus.

With the election just 31 days away, White House officials sought Saturday to project as much of a business-as-usual image as possible, insisting that the president can govern the country from his hospital bed and that there was no need to transfer power to Vice President Mike Pence. Even as doctors hovered over Trump, his staff Friday night issued a report on his buy-American drive and announced some minor appointments. On Saturday morning, the White House announced that the president had signed two bills appointing members to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution.

Trump has been suffering from a cough, congestion, fatigue and a fever, according to people informed about his condition, and some of the symptoms worsened as Friday progressed, including the drop in oxygen level that alarmed the president. Plans for him to convalesce at the White House were abruptly scrubbed in favor of sending him to the hospital for what officials said would be a few days.

One reason, according to an administration official, was that it would be better for the president to leave while he could still walk on his own power to the helicopter rather than risk getting sicker and having the politically damaging image of needing assistance to be transported to the hospital later.

Once at Walter Reed, the president’s breathing improved, according to the people knowledgeable about his situation. In a tweet just before midnight Friday, Trump gave a positive but vague update.

“Going well, I think!” he wrote. “Thank you to all. LOVE!!!”

Conley afterward released a statement reporting that Trump was “doing very well” and “not requiring supplemental oxygen.” The doctor said that the president had “completed his first dose” of remdesivir and was “resting comfortably.”

The use of remdesivir came after a variety of other treatments were administered at the White House on Friday before the president was flown to Walter Reed. Trump received a single 8-gram dose of polyclonal antibody combination, an experimental treatment that the White House obtained special permission to try, as well as zinc, vitamin D, an anti-heartburn medicine called famotidine, melatonin and aspirin.

Melania Trump, the first lady, who also is sick, remained at the White House while the rest of the president’s family members have tested negative but were being retested to confirm those results since it can take some time before the virus is detectable.

“Thanks to all those who so lovingly have reached out about @realDonaldTrump and the rest of the family,” Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning. “It truly means a lot to us. I tested negative so I’ll give it a few more days out of and abundance of caution and test again and if I’m clear I’ll be back to work asap.”

Among those who tested positive Saturday was Christie, who helped Trump prepare for his campaign debate Tuesday.

“I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19,” Christie wrote on Twitter. He added: “I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition.”

Two of the three senators who have now tested positive for the virus, Mike Lee of Utah and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, were at the Barrett announcement and serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee that will consider her nomination, further complicating a confirmation drive that was already testing speed limits and a razor-thin majority to get done before the election, as Trump has insisted.

Johnson was not at the event because he was quarantining from a previous exposure to someone with the virus. He emerged from 14 days of quarantine after testing negative and returned to Washington on Tuesday, his office said, but attended lunch with other Senate Republicans that put him in the same room with Lee and Tillis. He was tested again Friday.

“This test came back positive,” Ben Voelkel, a spokesperson for the senator, said in a statement. “Senator Johnson feels healthy and is not experiencing symptoms. He will remain isolated until given the all-clear by his doctor.”

If all three Republicans were unable to vote, then Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the majority leader, would not have enough support to force through confirmation of Barrett. Because two moderate Republican senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, have already indicated that they oppose installing a new justice before the election, that would leave McConnell with 48 Republicans to 49 Democrats and the two dissenting Republicans.

But Republican leaders vowed to push ahead with the confirmation on the hope that the infected senators would not get sick and therefore be able to return in time for a preelection vote. One option being discussed was holding the Judiciary Committee vote in the Senate chamber with the infected senators perched in the galleries overlooking the floor, far from their colleagues.

The president’s illness forced him off the campaign trail with just a month until the Nov. 3 election. Trump’s events have been canceled, as have those of his immediate family for the moment while they confirm negative test results, leaving it to Pence, who has tested negative for the virus, to pick up the burden of the contest against former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee.

The Trump campaign announced Saturday that Pence would host an unspecified campaign event Thursday in Peoria, Arizona.

“Joe Biden has turned his back on Arizonans by advocating for the far-left’s agenda of harsh regulations and high taxes,” the statement said.

Biden has said he is praying for Trump’s speedy recovery, and his campaign has taken down negative television advertisements assailing the president’s handling of the coronavirus crisis that has killed more than 208,000 people in the United States so far. But the candidate was not backing off his own campaign schedule.

Asked why he moved Trump to the hospital, Conley said, “Because he’s the president of the United States.” Dr. Sean N. Dooley, another physician treating the president, said Trump was feeling optimistic. “He’s in exceptionally good spirits,” Dooley said. He added that the president told his doctors, “I feel like I could walk out of here today.” The outbreak claimed a third Republican senator Saturday as Ron Johnson of Wisconsin reported testing positive as did former Gov. LOVE!!!” Conley afterward released a statement reporting that Trump was “doing very well” and “not requiring supplemental oxygen.” The doctor said that the president had “completed his first dose” of remdesivir and was “resting comfortably.” The use of remdesivir came after a variety of other treatments were administered at the White House on Friday before the president was flown to Walter Reed. I tested negative so I’ll give it a few more days out of and abundance of caution and test again and if I’m clear I’ll be back to work asap.” Among those who tested positive Saturday was Christie, who helped Trump prepare for his campaign debate Tuesday. “I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19,” Christie wrote on Twitter. He added: “I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition.” Two of the three senators who have now tested positive for the virus, Mike Lee of Utah and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, were at the Barrett announcement and serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee that will consider her nomination, further complicating a confirmation drive that was already testing speed limits and a razor-thin majority to get done before the election, as Trump has insisted. He will remain isolated until given the all-clear by his doctor.” If all three Republicans were unable to vote, then Sen.

Trump’s symptoms ‘very concerning’ as virus infects more GOP allies

Donald Trump is in &quot;excellent&quot; health and has passed the cognitive test with flying colours, the White House physician said after the US president underwent his annual medical check-up to quell questions about his mental abilities.

It was Trump&#39;s first physical examination as president amid speculation about his mental fitness for office, spurred by the publication of a damaging book that suggested Trump&#39;s own aides worry about his stability.

Later, Trump, 71, attempted to clarify matters by tweeting he was a &quot;very stable genius&quot;.

&quot; All clinical data indicates that the president is currently very healthy, and that he will remain so for the duration of his presidency... The president&#39;s overall health is excellent,&quot; said Navy Rear Adm Dr Ronny Jackson, who shared the results of Trump&#39;s health report.

Jackson held an extraordinary news conference at the White House that lasted for about an hour.

He said the three-hour examination of Trump conducted by military doctors on Friday had gone &quot;exceptionally well&quot;.

Jackson said that Trump asked him to conduct a cognitive test on him, even though it was not required by law.

&quot;A cognitive screening exam using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment was normal, with a score of 30 over 30,&quot; he said.

This exam is conducted in older patients for cognitive disorders like Alzheimer&#39;s disease.

&quot; There is no indication whatsoever that he has any cognitive issues. And, on a day-to-day basis it has been my experience that the president -- is very sharp, he is very articulate when he speaks to me. And, I have never known him to repeat himself around me,&quot; Jackson said.

Asked about a much-discussed episode in which the president seemed to slur his words during a televised speech in December about the Middle East, Jackson said it might had been caused by Sudafed, a medicine for nasal congestion.

In response to speculation that the president has mental health problems, Jackson said, &quot;In my opinion, that?s just tabloid psychiatry.&quot;

The doctor also said Trump showed &quot;excellent cardiac results ... From a stress test&quot; performed on the president last week.

Jackson said that Trump, who weighs 108 kgs and stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, &quot;would like to lose ... 10 to 15 pounds.&quot;

At his weight and height, the president is borderline obese.

&quot; The president has acknowledged he&#39;d be healthier if he lost a few pounds,&quot; Jackson said.

&quot; He continues to enjoy the significant long-term cardiac and overall health benefits that come from a lifetime of abstinence from tobacco and alcohol,&quot; he said.

Based on the blood profile and other health parameters, Jackson said he has recommended diet and exercise plan for the president for weight loss.

Trump has agreed to get rid of 4.5-6 kg of body fat in the next one year by combining diet, exercise and medication.

&quot; He has a history of elevated cholesterol, and is currently on a low dose of Crestor. In order to further reduce his cholesterol level and further decreases his cardiac risk, we will increase the dose of this particular medication,&quot; Jackson said.

Apart from this, Trump has no problems in vision, head, ears, nose, and throat.

When a reporter asked him how Trump managed to be in such good health despite eating junk food and taking diet coke, the doctor attributed this to his genes.

&quot;It&#39;s called genetics. Some people have just great genes. You know, I told the president that if he had healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old. He has incredible genes I just assume,&quot; Jackson said.

He said that while Trump &quot;doesn&#39;t have a daily exercise regiment,&quot; Trump &quot;has a lot of energy, a lot of stamina.&quot;

&quot;I&#39;ve never seen the president stressed out about too much. I would just assume has led to some of his success over the years, he has a very unique ability to just get up in the morning and reset,&quot; the doctor said.

&quot;I would say he sleeps four to five hours a night, and he&#39;s probably been that way his whole life. That&#39;s probably one of the reasons why he&#39;s been successful,&quot; the doctor said.

The White House chefs, Jackson said, are now cooking for him a much healthier diet.

Overall, Jackson said he was impressed by the president&#39;s health, saying tests revealed no evidence of cancer, lung problems, diabetes or joint problems. Tests of the liver, kidney and thyroid were all normal.

President Trump aces cognitive test, in excellent health: White House

US President Donald Trump passed a test for signs of dementia and is in overall excellent health, but needs to shed weight by cutting calories, fats and carbohydrates and starting a daily exercise routine, the White House physician said on Tuesday.

Trump, who was coy about sharing medical information during his unconventional 2016 run for office, used his first presidential medical exam - conducted on Friday at Walter Reed National Medical Center - to try to put to rest lingering questions about his mental fitness for office.

Trump asked his physician, Dr Ronny Jackson, to add a cognitive screening test to the exam, and authorized him to release a battery of data from the tests.

Trump, 71, is known to enjoy high-fat foods like fried chicken, hamburgers and steak - and, while he plays golf, he does not have a daily exercise routine.

Jackson said Trump is going to try to lose 10 to 15 pounds (4.5 to 6.8 kg) by eating better and starting to exercise,

The Navy doctor exhausted reporters&#39; questions during an unusually lengthy hour-long session, at Trump&#39;s request, and said he did not withhold any information in the interests of privacy.

&quot; He said, &#39;I want you to get out there and I want you to talk to them and I want you to answer every single question they have,&#39;&quot; Jackson said of Trump.

Cognitive test

Trump&#39;s mental fitness for the job had come under intense scrutiny after a recently published, controversial book, &quot;Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,&quot; portrayed him as childlike and mercurial.

Past presidents are not known to have been tested for mental acuity while in office - including Ronald Reagan, who five years after leaving the White House in 1989 was diagnosed with Alzheimer&#39;s disease, an incurable, degenerative brain condition.

Jackson, who speaks with Trump a few times a day and travels with him, said he did not think the president needed cognitive testing based on medical guidelines - but added the 30-question Montreal Cognitive Assessment at Trump&#39;s request.

The test looks for signs of Alzheimer&#39;s or other forms of dementia. Sample questions include asking the patient to draw a clockface, putting in all of the numbers and setting the clock hands to a specific time. The test does not assess psychiatric fitness.

Trump scored 30 out of 30 on the test, Jackson said. &quot; The president is mentally very sharp, very intact,&quot; the doctor said.

Dr&nbsp;Ronald Petersen, an Alzheimer&rsquo;s expert at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, said he could not comment specifically on the president&#39;s cognitive health. However, he did say that, in theory, a perfect score on the Montreal test does not necessarily rule out cognitive decline. It is &quot;just one measure in a clinical judgement,&quot; he said in an email.

More enthused about diet than exercise

Trump is considered overweight and borderline obese at 6 feet 3 inches (1.9 meters) tall and 239 pounds (108 kg). His blood pressure was 122/74, within normal bounds, and his cholesterol was on the high side, Jackson said.

But the physician said Trump&#39;s cardiac health was excellent, noting the president had undergone an exercise stress test, and said he consulted cardiologists about Trump&#39;s coronary calcium score.

Jackson credited the results to genetics. &quot;It&#39;s just the way God made him,&quot; he told reporters.

Jackson said he would increase Trump&#39;s daily dose of Crestor, a cholesterol-lowering drug, and bring in a nutritionist to work with White House chefs. The doctor said he would also design a daily exercise programme for Trump.

&quot;He&#39;s more enthusiastic about the diet part than the exercise part, but we&#39;re going to do both,&quot; Jackson said, adding that he might enlist first lady Melania Trump to help.

Ranit Mishori, an attending physician at Georgetown University-Providence Hospital in Washington, said Trump received more screening and diagnostic tests than are generally recommended for someone at his age and with his medical history.

With his reported eating habits and lack of exercise, it made sense for the White House to &quot;release all of this data to show that ... he is in good health,&quot; Mishori said.

Even without red flags from test results, Mishori said it was clear that Trump faces some risks.

&quot; He is a male and he is in his 70s and he is overweight, borderline obese, and he has high cholesterol. Those four factors alone put him at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease,&quot; she said.

Mishori disagreed with Jackson&#39;s assessment that Trump would be healthy for the rest of his term and possibly a second four-year term.

&quot;This was a bit of a snapshot in time,&quot; she said. &quot;I don&#39;t think this can be a definitive sign that he will be in this same state of health for the remainder of his term.&quot;

&quot; The president&#39;s physical exam today at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center went exceptionally well,&quot; the doctor, Ronny Jackson, was quoted as saying in a statement released by the White House.

&quot; The president is in excellent health,&quot; Jackson added after the exam was conducted near Washington. He is due to provide a public briefing Tuesday.

Trump, who has faced questions about his diet and his mental health, joked on the eve of his exam that the test had better go well -- for the sake of the stock market.

&quot;I think it&#39;s going to go very well,&quot; he said, adding that he would be &quot;surprised if it doesn&#39;t.&quot;

&quot; It (had) better go well, otherwise the stock market will not be happy,&quot; he quipped.

Past presidential examinations have included vitals such as height, weight, body mass index, resting heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation in the blood.

But they also included more detailed examinations of the heart, lungs, vision, cholesterol and blood glucose that could point to problems.

Amid questions about Trump&#39;s fitness for office, no psychiatric tests are planned, but previous examinations have included neurological examinations, including motor function tests.

They have also listed past medical history, past surgeries and current medications.

Trump, who has faced questions about his diet and his mental health, joked on the eve of his exam that the test had better go well -- for the sake of the stock market. "I think it's going to go very well," he said, adding that he would be "surprised if it doesn't." "It (had) better go well, otherwise the stock market will not be happy," he quipped. Past presidential examinations have included vitals such as height, weight, body mass index, resting heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation in the blood. But they also included more detailed examinations of the heart, lungs, vision, cholesterol and blood glucose that could point to problems. Amid questions about Trump's fitness for office, no psychiatric tests are planned, but previous examinations have included neurological examinations, including motor function tests. They have also listed past medical history, past surgeries and current medications.
