<p>The Indian national killed in Israel has been identified as Patnibin Maxwell from Kollam in Kerala. His mortal remains were identified in Ziv hospital, PTI quoted official sources as saying.</p>

<p>Two other injured nationals, Bush Joseph George and Paul Melvin were injured and taken to hospitals for treatment, they said.</p>

<p>"George was taken to the Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva after suffering injuries on face and body. He underwent an operation, is recovering well, and has been kept under observation. He could speak with his family in India," an official source told PTI.</p>

<p>Melvin was also hospitalised at Ziv Hospital in the northern Israeli city of Safed with slight injuries. He is from the Idukki district of Kerala.</p>

<p>Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the assailants were members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) -- a fringe leftist group that has staged periodic attacks in Turkey since the 1980s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The DHKP-C issued no initial claim of responsibility.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The group, which is considered a terrorist organisation by the United States, has been fighting US influence in the Middle East and across the world.</p>

<p>In 2014, Washington offered a $3 million reward for the capture of the group's leaders.</p>

<p>"I congratulate our security forces, who eliminated the treacherous attack with timely intervention," President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in televised remarks.</p>

<p>"Two terrorists, one a woman and the other a man, were neutralised."</p>

<p>Erdogan said the attack injured three police and three civilians, one of whom died later.</p>

<p>A witness told AFP the assailants opened fire on police after a brief altercation at a checkpoint leading to a main entrance to the sprawling building, which has been used for some of Turkey's biggest trials.</p>

<p>"A conflict broke out at the exit gate. I saw two people, a man and a woman, shooting at the police. The male was shot first. Then the woman fired a few more shots. They shot her," said 25-year-old Mahir Yildiz.</p>

<p>"I heard 20-25 gunshots. There was great panic and fear at that moment. We didn't know which way to go. The police blocked the entrance and exit and gathered everyone inside".</p>

<p>Police sealed off the courthouse entrances as a security precaution.</p>

<p><strong>'Heroic police'</strong></p>

<p>Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said "heroic police officers prevented a treacherous attack", adding that prosecutors had launched a "multi-faceted investigation".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ambush comes&nbsp;after a major gunfight in the Dharmsal belt of Bajimaal forest area in nearby Rajouri district had left five Army personnel, including two captains, dead last month.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The stretch between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz is on the boundary of Rajouri and Poonch districts. It is densely forested and goes to Chamrer forest, then to Bhata Dhurian woodland, where five troops were killed in action in an ambush on an Army truck on April 20 earlier this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In May, five more Army personnel were killed and a major-rank officer was injured in Chamrer forest during an anti-terrorist operation. A foreign terrorist was also killed in the operation.</p>

<p>Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief ministers of J&amp;K have&nbsp;strongly condemned the attack.</p>

<p>In mid-July, Burkina Faso's transitional president Captain Ibrahim Traore, who seized power in a September 2022 coup, deplored the "increasingly recurrent attacks against civilians", saying the jihadists were displaying "cowardice".</p>

<p>The apparent motive for the country's two coups in recent years was anger at failures to stem a jihadist insurgency since it spilled over from neighbouring Mali in 2015.</p>

<p>Six Israeli citizens were injured in a terror attack in the West Bank settlement city of Ma’ale Adumim on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As of Wednesday morning, five of the victims were still in the hospital, including one in serious condition who had to undergo surgery for the injuries.</p>

<h2>The attack</h2>

<p>As per Times of Israel report quoting law enforcement officials, a Palestinian terrorist opened fire at a group of people, including diners at a burger restaurant in a plaza outside a main shopping mall in the settlement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The terrorist, while attempting to flee the scene, was shot dead by an off-duty police officer.</p>

<p>Among the injured, one victim remains in serious but stable condition, another is in moderate but stable condition, and one was released from the hospital on Tuesday evening, said the police statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Three others, including a 14-year-old boy, are in light-to-moderate condition at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus, reports the publication.</p>

<h2><strong>Terrorist identified</strong></h2>

<p>Times of Israel reports that the terrorist has been identified by the Shin Bet security agency as 20-year-old Mohannad Muhammad Suleiman al-Mazra'a from the nearby West Bank town of al-Azariya.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He reportedly worked as a cleaner at a local community centre in Ma'ale Adumim and had a permit to work in West Bank settlements but not on the Israeli side of the Green Line.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Motive</strong></h2>

<p>An unverified recording attributed to the terrorist is being circulated on Palestinian social media. In it, he claims to have no affiliation with any faction.</p>

<p>Footage of the incident shows the terrorist, wearing a fluorescent yellow vest, opening fire at people from within bushes behind a bus stop. He can then be seen fleeing down a road, where he was shot by the Border Police officer.</p>

<p>Talking to Channel 12, the officer who is yet to be identified said: "At first I wasn’t sure if he was the terrorist, but I cocked my weapon and yelled at him to freeze. He didn't and started shooting at me." The off-duty police officer returned fire and stopped the attack.</p>

<p>Almost all the suspects are ethnic Chechens, and three of them possess Belgian nationality, prosecutors said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The exact target of the planned attack has not yet been determined," they said.</p>

<p>Police, backed by elite units, raided nine addresses in several towns in western Belgium in an operation led by an investigating judge specialised in terrorism cases.</p>

<p>The judge will decide "at a later stage" if there is sufficient evidence to charge the suspects, the statement said.</p>

<p>"Possible charges are attempted terrorist assassination, participation in the activities of a terrorist group and preparation of a terrorist attack," it said.</p>

<p>Prosecutors added that all seven arrested "are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in Belgium".</p>

<p>They all "belong to a group of strong supporters of the IS".</p>

<p>A spokesman for the federal prosecutors' office, Eric Van Duyse, told AFP that "they apparently intended to target an institution located in Belgium" and had been "actively searching for weapons".</p>

<p>The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed multiple terror attacks at the beginning of the new year. Six civilians were killed and ten injured in the twin attacks at the Dangri Village of Rajouri district. In an IED blast earlier today, two children were killed while four more were injured at the same location where the terrorists attacked yesterday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The first attack took place yesterday evening, where terrorists suspected to have infiltrated from across the border entered the Dangri village and indiscriminately fired on the civilians of the area. The firing resulted in the death of four civilians while six were injured in the attack. All the injured are being treated at various hospitals in Rajouri and Jammu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Jammu and Kashmir government announced an ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh and a government job for the kin of the deceased. ''Ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh and a government job would be given to the next of kin of each of those civilians martyred in the dastardly attack. Seriously injured would be given ₹ 1 lakh. Officials have been directed to ensure the best treatment to injured,'' said Lieutenant General of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.</p>

<p>Political parties in the Union Territory have also condemned the attacks. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah, said that killing innocents is the outcome of hatred being spread in the country and that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) should find a solution to prevent such incidents.</p>

<p>''The country can never move forward by dividing people, but unity is imperative for progress. It is unfortunate that militancy still exists in Jammu &amp; Kashmir as innocent people are being killed, '' said Dr Farooq Abdullah.</p>

<p>There was an attack in Srinagar yesterday as well. It was reported that a grenade was hurled at the CRPF patrolling party which missed the target, and one civilian was injured in the attack. The terrorists managed to escape from the location after the attack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One more incident was reported from South Kashmir's Pulwama district where a groundworker snatched an AK-47 rifle from a CRPF soldier. But the forces came into action soon after the incident and later succeeded in getting back the 25-year-old youth along with the snatched rifle of CRPF Jawan.</p>

Multiple terrorist attacks witnessed in J&K as new year begins

<p>A terrorist attack blamed on Islamic State in eastern Syria killed at least 10 oil field workers, a day after the Syrian Kurdish-led forces warned of an assault on the terrorists.&nbsp;The attack targeting three buses transporting workers from the al-Taim oil field in Deir Ezzor province killed nearly a dozen people and injured two others, the SANA news agency reported.</p>

<p>The nature of the attack in the Kurdish-held area remains unknown. However, a British-based war monitor said Islamic State group cells attacked the oil field workers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The episode began with explosive devices that went off as the buses drove by, and then the group's militants opened fire at them," mentioned Rami Abdel Rahman, Director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this week, in a bid to free their fighters, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Daesh) attacked a prison in Raqqa, killing six Kurdish soldiers. Later, on Thursday, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched an offensive against the Islamic State group fighters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the SDF, Operation al-Jazeera Thunderbolt&nbsp;aims to eradicate IS terrorists from regions under recent attack. They also mentioned that the operation was in alliance&nbsp;with the U.S. However, the international force has not confirmed its involvement.</p>

<p>The IS terrorists have lately conducted eight assaults on the Deir Ezzor region, Hasakeh, and Al-Hol camp for displaced people, said an SDF statement.</p>

<p>SDF referred to the recent Turkish airstrikes in northeast Syria and alleged that IS has been trying to take advantage of the situation. In 2019, the SDF drove the IS from its last stronghold.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, even though IS collapsed, its remaining fighters have continued attacking Iraq and Syria. According to IS, Monday's attack on Raqqa was to avenge the Muslim prisoners and the deaths of female relatives of terrorists living in the Al-Hol camp.<br />
