The company rolled out the new iOS with patch notes. It found two vulnerabilities: the first was a kernel exploit that could have been exploited by an attacker with local access to the device, and added that it "may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS prior to iOS 16.6."&nbsp;

Russia enters AI race with ChatGPT contender called GigaChat

In a partial setback for a new comic book "Zarya of the Dawn", the US Copyright Office has refused to grant protection for AI-created images&nbsp;when the artist Kris Kashtanova approached for registration of her work. Interestingly, her application also referred to the images created by Midjourney’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology. On Tuesday (February 21), the office said it has completed its review, as it stressed: "The images that were generated by the Midjourney technology are not the product of human authorship." A new certificate has been issued to Kashtanova "covering only the expressive material that she created".

"We conclude that Ms. Kashtanova is the author of the work’s text as well as the selection, coordination, and arrangement of the work’s written and visual elements. That authorship is protected by copyright," read the response by the United States Copyright Office, which was hailed as "great news" by Kashtanova on Twitter.

"I received the Copyright Office's decision today about Zarya of the Dawn. The great news is that they affirmed my copyright, so Zarya of the Dawn will stay officially registered," Kashtanova posted on Wednesday (February 22). "This is a great day for everyone that is creating using Midjourney and other tools. When you put your images into a book like Zarya, the arrangement is copyrightable. The story is copyrightable as well as long as it’s not purely AI produced," she tweeted.

In another post, she further highlighted that her lawyers will continue to pursue the case. "They are looking at our options to further explain to the Copyright Office how individual images produced by Midjourney are a direct expression of my creativity and therefore copyrightable," she wrote.

Players of the game&nbsp;are guided through a series of scenarios that health workers at hospitals and long-term care facilities encounter on a daily basis.&nbsp;

Each challenge, from before leaving the house to their commute and especially on the job,&nbsp;is geared towards helping frontline staff change their real-world behaviour to better protect against spreading the virus.

Researchers at the&nbsp;Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) have&nbsp;developed the "serious game", which is available online in French, German, Italian and English, to help healthcare workers internalise the best practices for avoiding outbreaks on the job.

Professor Stephan Harbarth heads the infection prevention unit at the hospital and his team helped provide the protocol and procedural expertise underlying "Escape COVID-19".

"Classical hospital hygiene and inter-hospital infection prevention are not always the most sexy of topics," he acknowledged.&nbsp;

"We see that a playful game, along with other communication methods, is more effective in helping people change their behaviour."

A study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research earlier this month indicated that the game was far more effective than regular information manuals in inspiring behavioural change among staff.

"Those who played the game were three times more likely to say they wanted to change their behaviour compared to those who received the regular material."

Inciting behaviour change among health professionals is vital.&nbsp;

Since the start of the pandemic, hospitals and care facilities have tragically become incubators of COVID-19 outbreaks.

In the beginning, Harbarth said most of the focus was on protecting doctors and nurses from getting infected while caring for COVID-19 patients.&nbsp;

But after a while it became clear that asymptomatic health workers were spreading the virus too, and often to non-Covid patients.

"We realised we needed to be very careful that the personnel didn't become vectors, or mosquitos if you will, infecting patients," Harbarth said.

There was a need to dramatically change attitudes among health professionals, who are accustomed to working long hours and not letting a cough or sniffle keep them away.

Now, they were asked to stay away at the slightest symptom, and to get tested even without symptoms.

"It is really a complete change of our normal paradigm," Harbarth said. "The game has helped us do that."

In fact, he said, the game deserved some of the credit for the dramatic drop in hospital-sparked Covid infections in recent months.

Looking forward, Harbarth said he hoped games would be more widely used to reinforce important medical messages, including on vaccination.

"This is a huge challenge," he said, pointing out that not all hospital employees agree to get a Covid jab.

"A playful game... might be a good tool for distributing accurate information."

It involved nearly 300 emergency room workers in Geneva who were either provided with written material about the proper procedures to follow or asked to play the computer game.

"The study measured a real benefit," said Suppan.

Social media platform Instagram on Wednesday announced new measures in an attempt to tackle online abuses following a series of "horrifying” racist attacks on Premier League footballers. Fadzai&nbsp;Madzingira, content policy manager at Instagram's parent company Facebook, told Britain's Press Association news agency she was "horrified" at the vitriol directed at footballers.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"Currently, we will set a specific ban or what we call a block for a set amount of time when someone violates those rules and we extend that time should they continue to do so," she said.&nbsp;

"What we're announcing today is that we're taking tougher measures on people who violate those rules in Instagram direct messaging, so instead of just extending the time, we'll be removing the accounts altogether.&nbsp;

The Football Association (FA) has called for action from the British government to tackle the issue on&nbsp;priority.&nbsp;
