"Off-world DNA storage allows the human genome to be preserved for thousands of years in space without degradation," the company stated. "This means it is possible it could be discovered later, like a cosmic time capsule. It could allow future generations to learn more about the US forefathers millennia into the future," the statement read further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I do have one good thing to say about the show, and it is the production quality, a hallmark of modern <em>Star Wars </em>adaptations. Disney, after all, does not have any lack of money. Where to put that money, and to whom... is, I believe, the problem here. Dave Filoni, who is basically the Kevin Feige of <em>Star Wars </em>TV universe, is the creator here. His work, I feel, has been something of a hit-and-miss, and more often a miss. I like <em>The Mandalorian</em>, on which he collaborates with Jon Favreau, but I like it warily as though it would bite me when I least expect it. By biting me I mean, of course,&nbsp;confounding and needless cameos.</p>

I am not a<em> Star Wars</em> geek who digs too deep into the lore, I loved the original trilogy, and indeed, I loved <em>The Last Jedi</em>, probably the most divisive film in the entire franchise. I approach the franchise with an appreciation for its narrative potential because George Lucas did build an immersive, immensely detailed world with lots to explore and discover. And <em>Ahsoka </em>beckoned me with promises of both greatness and challenges.</p>

<p>Only two episodes were provided to the critics, but they hold little promise. And unless the series does a 180 and provides exciting storytelling and fresh character beats, I believe <em>Ahsoka </em>will also be forgotten as soon as it finishes airing.</p>

<p>There are moments of character depth and the expansion of the franchise's intricate lore. However, beneath the surface, certain issues persist — especially the penchant for fan service and an overreliance on pre-existing Star Wars material. The series seamlessly introduces characters from these animated realms into live-action terrain, but without prior familiarity, their significance may be lost on newcomers. And worse, it makes no effort to make any of it interesting. This is just copious amounts of exposition, hopelessly aiming to bridge the gap by fleshing out relationships and backgrounds.</p>

<p>This necessity of bridging gaps is one thing that instantly takes me out of the experience with these interconnected universes. While occasional references and callbacks can be fun, there's a palpable urgency to interlink plot threads from disparate shows and films at the expense of the ongoing story. Star Wars tales are increasingly born in the interstices of existing sagas, often lacking the autonomy to stand on their own.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I don't want to do my homework before watching a TV show.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong><em>Ahsoka </em>also fails at faithfully translating animation to live-action</strong></h2>

<p>Also translating an originally animated story to live action faithfully can often be an unrewarding and difficult experience. But then why do it in the first place? The constraints in <em>Ahsoka </em>become most apparent in the action, where the fluidity and kinetic charisma of the animated version turns into drab, awkward, and wooden sequences. Visuals, too, occasionally fall short, with muted exteriors, drab colours, and a disconnect between characters and their surroundings. This deficiency dilutes the immersive quality that characterised the original version.</p>

<p>At the heart of it all lies the persistent struggle to recapture the essence of the past, whether rooted in Rebels or The Clone Wars. This endeavour weighs on <em>Ahsoka</em>, casting a shadow over the promise it holds. The remainder of the season might yet prove me wrong as I said earlier, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I do feel bad for Dawson, who deserves better.</p>

Ahsoka early review: A galaxy far, far from greatness

<p>A portion of&nbsp;<em>Star Wars</em>, an American epic space opera, appears to have become a reality after the discovery of the new planet TOI-1338 c (also known as BEBOP-1 c) — the second-ever known planetary system orbiting twin stars. Only two worlds are known in the TOI-1338/BEBOP-1 circumbinary system so far.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is much similar to Tatooine, Luke Skywalker's fictional home world, a sparsely inhabited circumbinary desert planet located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories featured in <em>Star Wars</em>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to experts, TOI-1338 c is a gas giant and it is approximately 65 times the mass of Earth. It takes around 215 days to orbit its sun.&nbsp;</p>

<p>BEBOP-1c has been named after the project that collected the data, as BEBOP stands for Binaries Escorted By Orbiting Planets. Researchers at the University of Birmingham led the study, which has been published in the journal <strong><a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41550-023-01948-4">Nature Astronomy</a></strong>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Experts said in the paper, "We report the detection of a gas-giant planet in orbit around both stars of an eclipsing binary star system. The system discussed in this paper is only the second system known to host multiple planets." For the unversed, a binary star is a system of two stars that are gravitationally bound to and in orbit around each other.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Matthew Standing, who is the study's lead author, told Space.com, "Circumbinary planets were originally thought not to exist, since the binary stars stir up the planet-forming disks, creating a harsh environment for planets to form."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr Standing, who is an astrophysicist at the Open University in England, said, "This all changed with the discovery of Kepler-16b in 2011 by the Kepler space telescope. This discovery showed that it must be possible for these planets to form."&nbsp;</p>

As quoted by Science Daily, Dr Standing said that "the transit method permitted us to measure the size of TOI-1338b, but not its mass which is the planet's most fundamental parameter".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Details of the reports noted that the BEBOP team was already monitoring this system using another detection method at the time, called the Doppler method, which is also called the wobble method, or radial-velocity method. It is relied on for accurately measuring the velocity of stars.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said that this newly-found planet, TOI-1338 c, is a gas giant, meanwhile, TOI-1338 b is a "Neptune-like ice giant".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The animal, resembling a cross between an eel and a leech, measured two feet in length. Osinkie expressed his excitement at seeing such a creature in person.</p>

Some compared it to the alien from the movie <em>Alien</em>&nbsp;or referenced similar creatures seen on the show <em>River Monsters.</em> The consensus was that it looked like something out of a scary movie or outer space.</p>

<p>Ahsoka Tano will be getting a new series as per the latest set of announcements at the Star Wars Celebration in London by Lucasfilm. Produced by Jon Favreau and writer Dave Filoni, the series will follow Anakin Skywalker’s beloved Togruta padawan, Ahsoka Tano. <em>Ahsoka</em>&nbsp;series will premiere in August on Disney+.</p>

<p>The first time the Star Wars world introduced Ahsoka to its fans was in the 2008 film S<em>tar Wars: The Clone Wards</em>. It was an animated film that follows Ahsoka as she learns from her mentor, Anakin Skywalker, who will become Darth Vader.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Soon after Ahsoka became a fan favourite. The character then returned to the screen after a gap of six years in the <em>Star Wars Rebels</em> animated series. In this, she had gone through a lot and become a powerful Jedi warrior.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ahsoka also got a live-action treatment in season 2 of <em>The Mandalorian</em>. In this, Rosario Dawson took up the role. Then came a live-action series with Dawson in the lead.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Post her promotion as a Jedi, Ahsoka left the Jedi Order before receiving her official rank as a knight.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking about the role, Rosario Dawson said, “These characters are in really different places in their lives. There is an aspect to the hero’s journey that is very lonely. You sacrifice a lot when you’re out there fighting the good fight. It’s going to be really beautiful and revelatory to see the things that can happen when you work in a community when you find those relationships and the people that you can trust.”</p>

<p>Three new Star Wars movies are in the making, studio executives announced Friday, including the first film in the cinematic universe to be directed by a woman.</p>

<p>Pakistan-born Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is leaping from the Marvel universe to the Star Wars galaxy to direct a new film set 15 years after the end of the last movie.</p>

<p>She will direct British actor Daisy Ridley as she returns to the role of Rey, the heroine of the last trilogy, which wound up in 2019 to mixed reviews.</p>

<p>The new film will follow Rey's efforts to revive the Jedi order.</p>

<p>Obaid-Chinoy, who has two Oscars for documentaries denouncing violence against women, said she was "drawn to the hero's journey" in the Star Wars universe.</p>

<p>"I spent the better part of my lifetime meeting real heroes who are overcoming oppressive regimes and battling impossible odds and I think that's the heart of Star Wars," she said.</p>

<p>Obaid-Chinoy directed last year's Ms. Marvel television series featuring a Muslim superhero.</p>

<p>Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, the studio bought by Disney in 2012, said each of the three films would cover different periods in the Star Wars narrative. And each will have a different director.</p>

<p>James Mangold, himself a two-time Oscar nominee, will helm another of the films, fresh from directing the latest in the Indiana Jones series, which is due for release later this year.</p>

For real hardcore collectors — especially those that have disposable income — you can get way more money … than you would imagine.”</p>

<p>Mark Hamill said that he hasn’t sold his autographed items since 2017 when Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out. It’s the Star Wars film franchise that taught him that such gestures are “doing right thing for the good of everyone, rather than being all about self-interest.”</p>

<p>The actor says he is “thrilled” that the United24 fundraising project, a joint venture of the Ukainian Armed Forces and United24, has evolved to this “massive, worldwide event,” saying that “anything I can do, however small it is, is something I feel obligated to do.” It has raised more than $353 million so far.</p>

<p>Details on the sale of these posters have not been made public as of yet. The poster sale is expected to start next week.</p>

<p>A California bakery called One House Bakery, run by a mother-daughter duo, created a 6-foot Han Solo out of bread dough in a month and proved how much they love and adore the 'Star Wars' franchise. Creating a mixture of flour, water and sugar, they sculpted their 'Pan Solo' and displayed it outside their shop. Right next to the sculpture, a chalkboard that read, "Our hero Pan Solo has been trapped in Levainite by the evil Java the Hut,"&nbsp;was placed.</p>

<p>The duo behind the creation, Hannalee Pervan and her mother, Catherine Pervan, made the structure at night, in the quiet hours after the bakery had closed, for their hometown's 15th annual Downtown Scarecrow Contest.</p>

<p>"Introducing…Pan Solo!!!! This is our entry to the Scarecrow Contest @beniciamainst!! Pan Solo has been encased in levainite," co-owner and head baker Hannalee Pervan wrote on Instagram. "I know, we're giant nerds! @catherinepervan and I created Pan out of bread dough!!" Take a look!</p>

<p>"MASH", "Patton" and "The Sound of Music", which were the first slate ever released on the US market in 1977, are currently considered the holy trinity.</p>

<p>Although 20th Century Fox was trobled when it released them, now they are worth "a six-digit number, maybe seven," according to Jay Carlson, VHS consignment director at Heritage Auctions.</p>

<p>Experts are baffled that the trend is picking up 16 years after the last release of a film in this format.</p>

<p>Drawing a parallel between the current VHS trend and video games, Pat Contri, host of the Completly Unnecessary Podcast, told news agency AFP that &nbsp;both markets are flooded with ''people who just decided to get into it.''</p>

<p>From sneakers to skateboards, several of these cultural staples have become collectible asset classes over the last decade.</p>
