Wisconsin: Shooter wounds multiple people during a funeral

A gunman killed at least four&nbsp;people on a hospital campus in Tusla Oklahoma on Wednesday, according to police. The shootout has taken place as Americans are still grappling with one that took place in a school in Texas.

Fresh shootout in US, gunman kills at least four in Oklahoma medical centre

Within a week of Texas school shooting that shook America, Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced (May 30) a proposed freeze on handgun ownership. Effectively, this measure would ban gun imports and sale.&nbsp;

The government statistical agency reported last week that firearms-related violent crimes account for less than three percent of all violent crimes in Canada.

But since 2009 the per capita rate of guns being pointed at someone has nearly tripled, while the rate at which a gun was fired with an intent to kill or wound is up five-fold.

Almost two-thirds of gun crimes in urban areas involved handguns.

Canadian police often point at gun-smuggling taking place across the border from USA. They say that this is the main source of illegal handguns in Canada.

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino estimated there are about one million handguns in this country -- up significantly from a decade ago.

Trudeau commented, "People should be free to go to the supermarket, their school or their place of worship without fear. People should be free to go to the park or to a birthday party without worrying about what might happen from a stray bullet.

"Gun violence is a complex problem," he said. "But at the end of the day, the math is really quite simple: the fewer the guns in our communities, the safer everyone will be."

The attack was believed to be motivated by "revenge" by one cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel against another, deputy security minister Ricardo Mejia said.

The government said it was unable to confirm the death toll because no bodies were found, although DNA samples of 11 possible victims were collected at the site.

Shahid Zaman, a senior Islamabad Police official, also told&nbsp;AFP&nbsp;the incident was "an act of terrorism".

The martyred police official has been identified as Head Constable Munawwar, while the injured include Amin and Rashid, a spokesperson for the police said.

The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility of the gun battle.

TTP is an umbrella group which shares its common roots from the Afghan Taliban.

In November, Pakistan announced a month-long cease-fire with the TTP. The group has been behind numerous attacks on security forces and civilians over the last 14 years.

The cease-fire ended on December 9 and since then, the group has resumed attacks. The Taliban, who brokered the monthlong truce, have assured Islamabad that they will not allow TTP to use Afghan soil for violence in Pakistan.

Pakistani authorities say the talks with the TTP failed because they presented demands that were non-negotiable. The demands have not been publicly disclosed.

Ashish urged the authorities for help so that his visa was approved and he could enter Mexico to take his sister's body back to India for her last rites.

On Wednesday night, Ryot and four other foreign tourists were dining on the terrace of La Malquerida restaurant when four men armed with assault rifles fired at an adjoining table in the premises around 10:30 pm, El Pais reported.

Ryot and the German woman were killed. Three others from Germany and the Netherlands were wounded. Authorities point to a confrontation between rival organised crime gangs adding&nbsp;Ryot and her friends were collateral victims.

Mason did not confirm whether the men were affiliated with any specific group, adding that it was not unusual for police "to encounter people that have sovereign citizen ideologies" although he did was not aware that the men harbored such beliefs.

"We train our officers actually at the academy on these interactions and how to de-escalate those situations and how to engage with people that have that that philosophy and mindset and resolve those situations, you know, in a peaceful manner, which is what we're committed to doing," Mason said.

Two of the men were taken into custody, police said but offered no other details.

A white supremacist was killed in a shootout with police in Templeton, California on Friday. Christopher Straub, the deceased was a wanted felon and had previously served jail time in prison. A Deputy Sheriff was injured due to bullets fired by Straub.

Before the shootout, the police tried at first to conduct a traffic stop on Starub near a cemetery. This was when Straub grabbed a gun he had in his car and ran through the vineyards in the cemetery. The police gave a chase.

Inside the cemetery, Starub ambushed and opened fire at the police. One policeman was injured. The policeman was airlifted to a hospital and his health is said to be stable.

As policemen retaliated and fired bullets at Christopher Straub, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found a large cache of weaponry inside his car. As per CNN, this included four assault-style rifles, one hunting rifle, one shotgun, two handguns along with the one he used to fire at police and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The police later discovered that Stroub was illegally manufacturing weapons parts.
