<p><em>Thank You For Coming,</em> which stars Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Shibani Bedi, and Kusha Kapila in lead roles, has garnered mixed reviews from audiences and critics. In terms of its box office collection, it has had a slow start with its first day collection standing at Rs 10.6 million. The film has been directed by Karan Boolani and produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.</p>

<p>Going by&nbsp;Rhea Kapoor's latest Instagram post, some critics'&nbsp;and trade analysts' "misogynistic" comments have irked her and her team. Clapping back at a trade journalist who has been allegedly spreading hate against her and her co-producer,&nbsp;Rhea penned a long note on her official social media handle on Tuesday. Later, Ekta Kapoor reposted it on her handle to show "solidarity with her partner".&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the now-viral post, Rhea wrote, "I’ve never read trade websites nor have they ever informed the films I choose to make. However, it has come to my attention that one so-called ‘credible’ trade journalist has been posting dangerous hate speech against myself and my co-producers. Admitting that he hasn’t seen the film, he’s angered by our message - women’s rejection of shame. Stating that these stories have no place in ‘Hindi cinema’, he spews misogynistic rhetoric and encourages violence against us."</p>

<p>Rhea added, "I was told to pay no attention to the ravings of an obviously unstable individual. So, you can imagine my disappointment when I learn that this person actually has some impact on the way our industry feels. How are we ok with this? Not just ok, we’re subscribing to it. In spite of men like him, I cannot emphasise enough how much it means to me to have this film out there, loved and watched. The intent of this film was clear from the very beginning. To reject shame, reject your past traumas and embrace yourself just as you are."</p>

The actress is reportedly recovering from food poisoning. Late last night, the film’s co-producer, Rhea Kapoor, turned up at the hospital to pay her a visit. In one photo, Rhea could be spotted waving at the photographers as she exited the hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shehnaaz Gill streamed live from her hospital bed, as she reached out to fans, thanking them for their support. A video of the live session was shared by fans online. In the video, Shehnaaz can be seen wearing a hospital gown and lying on the bed. She can be heard addressing her fans in the video as she said, “Dekho time sabka aata hai, sabka jata hai. After decades of predominantly male-centric movies, we finally had the ladies single-handedly leading the cast, with the heroes also getting their fair share of screen time. While watching the film, I got the feeling of repetitive stuff served on a new plate.&nbsp;Nonetheless, the best part was that there was a sense of normalcy in the film, whether it was the talk around female pleasure, sex, female bonding, or women's empowerment, and that's when we say Bollywood has progressed well.</p>

<p>Karan Boolani's <em>Thank You for Coming</em> is backed by Anil Kapoor's production house and her daughter Rhea Kapoor. It&nbsp;is a film on new-age women, who are confused, stuck between stereotypes,&nbsp;trying to find their true selves, and much more.</p>

<h2><strong>What's Thank You for Coming all about?</strong></h2>

<p>The comedy movie starts off with Bhumi Pednekar's character, Kanika Kapoor. The 32-year-old successful food influencer was born and raised by an open-minded single mother, Ms Kapoor, played by Natasha Rastogi, who decided to have and raise a child on her own without marrying Kanika's biological father. Her mother may have fought with society and its stereotypes by standing tall, but it was not at all easy for Kanika, who,&nbsp;as a result of all the bullying, decides not to walk in her mother's path and to find a prince charming who fulfils all her desires. From her teens to entering her 30s, Kanika is on a mission to find Mr. Perfect, who ticks all the boxes. But, to date, despite several casual sexual encounters and love affairs, she has never experienced orgasm.<br />

<p>Women tell women's stories&nbsp;best, and writers Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh prove this. With a dash of humour, the film navigates so many core issues, like female pleasure, feminism, stereotypes, and stigmas that women still face in everyday life. The script of the film deserves praise, however, the writers lacked when it came to putting the story on the plate. While the first half of the film was understandable, the second part was rushed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As I said before, the film felt like an old script served with a new garnish. In recent years, we have seen quite a few female-centric stories in Bollywood that threw light on the lives of girls and women, in which topics like female desire, relationships, sex and pleasure were explored. So, the film kind of felt repetitive. Also, since the film&nbsp;tries to explore several topics in just two hours,&nbsp;the entire thing gets dampened.<br />

Dolly Singh and Shibani Bedi are perfect in their roles and have done decent jobs in their limited screen time.</p>

<p>The ongoing 46th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is set to be even more glamorous and star-studded this year as&nbsp;renowned Indian actor and producer, Anil Kapoor, has been officially confirmed to grace the event with his presence. Kapoor stars in the upcoming film, <em>Thank You For Coming,</em> in a supporting role. The film is generating immense anticipation and is scheduled for a world premiere in the Gala Presentation at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall on September 16 in Toronto.</p>

<p>With palpable enthusiasm, Anil Kapoor expressed his excitement, stating, "You know, I've been wanting to attend TIFF ever since <em>Slumdog Millionaire</em>! That year, I travelled to pretty much all the celebrated festivals for <em>Slumdog </em>- from BFI in London to Cannes and everything in between. The film is generating immense anticipation and is scheduled for a world premiere in the Gala Presentation at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall on September 16 in Toronto. With palpable enthusiasm, Anil Kapoor expressed his excitement, stating, "You know, I've been wanting to attend TIFF ever since Slumdog Millionaire! That year, I travelled to pretty much all the celebrated festivals for Slumdog - from BFI in London to Cannes and everything in between. Also known as Eid to many, the festival celebrated by Muslims has over the years become synonymous with the day when Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's big-budget films hit theatres. This year, Salman takes his Bhai (big brother) status literally in Fahad Samji's film <em>Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan</em>. Throughout the film, Salman is either addressed as <em>Bhai, Bhaijaan</em> or simply <em>Jaan</em>. His character has no name, religion and cast do not bind him and he chants Vande Mataram before bashing goons double his size. He also recites proses from&nbsp;the Geeta to woo the girl of his dreams. He is the leader of a pack - which operates in set of threes. He has been a foster parent and overall big brother to three orphans, whom he calls his own. He has three friends, his tackles three villains...you get the drift?<br />
<br />
His young brothers seem to operate together. They hang out together, fight together, get emotional at the same time about the same things, romance and go on dates together. So when the three brothers, (who also dress up similarly and have similar beards and cannot really be distinguished from each other) want to get married, their only hindrance is their elder brother, <em>Bhaijaan</em>. The man had apparently vowed never to get married or let his younger brothers marry as a woman can ruin their bond.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The three brothers decide to break that vow and find a girl for their <em>B</em><em>haijaan</em> in order to settle down with their respective girlfriends. The yardstick is pretty simple, the girl should be called Bhagya, which was Bhaijaan's ex-girlfriend's name. Their wish is fulfilled when Bhagyalakshmi comes to their colony to stay for a month. She is an antique conservationist we are told but never really works. We do see her being friends with the three brothers and very strangely falling for the scruffy, unkept, long-haired, and nearly mute Bhaijaan because the bhais want them to hook up. She calls him <em>Jaan,</em> they fall in love over the course of two songs and soon realise that her family's life is in threat from a local goon in Hyderabad.&nbsp;</p>

A self-professed protector to one and all,&nbsp;&nbsp;Salman and company move to Hyderabad to meet Bhagya's family and fight goons- south style with over-the-top action sequences where everyone believes in using axes and swords to attack. Guns are clearly child's play in this part of the town. I don't have to tell you how the rest of the story pans out.&nbsp;<br />
First thing first. Salman looks old and tired. His swagger remains but the film's plot, inspired by Tamil film <em>Veeram</em> is so generic and silly that Khan's superstardom cannot uplift it. The original film was made in 2014 and a lot has changed, perhaps not so much in Salman's movies. Here our man defies logic, lifts cars by one hand, tackles several men double his size in one go and even head-butts a man to death. The good thing about these films is that Salman only concentrates on being the superstar that he is - which works well- and so acting is done by the rest of the cast. Pooja Hegde holds her own in a role that has so limited scope for her but she makes Bhagya relatable. There are also veteran actors like Rohini Hattangadi and Venkatesh who do a good job in a film about Bhai. It's also good to see the late actor Satish Kaushik in a cameo role.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
There are also a bunch of new faces playing Salman's brothers and their hoes. Poorly written with limited dialogues, actors Siddharth Nigam, Raghav Juyal, Jassie Gill, Palak Tiwari and Shehnaaz Gill are all just there- playing caricature roles. All well-known Internet and TV stars in their own right- they are totally wasted in the film.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Ultimately, <em>Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan </em>works only for its action sequences in the second half - provided you have the palate for incessant punches and mind-numbing stunts. Both Khan and Venkatesh somewhat uplift the climax but the film's writers Farhad Samji, Sparsh Khetarpal, and Tasha Bhambra's lazy writing shows.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Pooja Hegde and Salman Khan's romance- which forms the core story- is ice cold. It's like the girl is romancing a cucumber. In fact, Salman's inability to emote much is incorporated cleverly in one scene where he holds the same straight face when his lady love asks him to emote. Quite meta, I'd say. Also, the way the brothers decide to choose the girl for their beloved <em>Bhaijaan</em> is bizarre. One moment they decide and pray to god that they want a girl for their brother, and the next second, the girl lands right in front of them. Also, no background check is done for her- so much for loving their <em>Bhaijaan.</em> The girl could have easily been replaced by a pigeon flying past them- they would have chosen it for their <em>Bhai.&nbsp;</em><br />
<br />
Logic though is not the priority for Salman's film. It has never been. But at least Samji should have tried to get a few tweaks to suit the present time or present Khan in a new avatar. Instead, it feels like Salman Khan is playing himself- just with an annoying wig on his head.&nbsp;<br />

The film is also a reminder of the growing influence of South Indian films across India. Khan has been one of the early few Bollywood stars to have worked in several remakes of South hits. In his latest, instead of adapting it, he heads south- to copy-paste a very successful template.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
<em>Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,</em> ultimately, is for Salman Khan loyalists. It's an average film, presenting the superstar in a tried and tested format. Nothing extraordinary.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anyone who has seen season 13 of the popular reality TV show 'Bigg Boss' knows who Shehnaaz Kaur Gill is. The Punjabi singer-actress rose to fame with her 'Bigg Boss' stint and she garnered a huge fandom with her cute and funny antics on the Salman Khan-hosted show. She shares a close bond with Salman and the two are often spotted together at events and B-town parties. Last month, some reports suggested that Shehnaaz will be seen playing a pivotal role in the Salman Khan-starrer and today, a video of the diva stepping out of a vanity van at 'Kabhie Eid Kabhi Diwali' set is doing the rounds of the internet.</p>

<p>In the leaked video, Shehnaaz is seen donning traditional South Indian attire. The beautiful lehenga with a pink <em>dupatta</em> looked great on the actress as she headed toward the film set.&nbsp;She was also seen sporting a braid with some&nbsp;jasmine flowers on it.&nbsp;Although the makers of the film 'Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali' are yet to announce their collaboration with Shehnaaz, the video confirms that the actress will be playing an important role in the film.</p>

<p>According to several media reports, Shehnaaz will be paired opposite Aayush Sharma. The film will also reportedly star Zaheer Iqbal and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The film is being shot in Mumbai and the team has reportedly built two big sets in Vile Parle for a 10-day shoot. The rest of the shoot is expected to take place at&nbsp;Mehboob Studios.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reality TV star and Punjabi film actress Shehnaaz Gill was inconsolable during the last rights of her good friend, Indian TV star Sidharth Shukla. Shukla reportedly died of a heart attack on Thursday morning in Mumbai.&nbsp;<br />

Gill and Shukla hit it off when they participated in the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss' a few years back. The two shared crackling chemistry and were known to be close friends and fans termed their pair as SidNaaz. Rumours had it that the two were seeing each other although they never confirmed the news.&nbsp;<br />

On Friday, Shukla's funeral took place in the presence of family and friends. Some of the prominent faces of Indian Television were present during the cremation ceremony. Many paid a visit to Shukla's home and expressed their condolences to his family members.<br />
