<p>"The general public for the most part can get by, and then there is this cohort of people whose lives are marked by family breakdown, physical and mental ill-health; who live in crime-ridden communities and experience multiple barriers to work."</p>

<h2><strong>Echoes of the Victorian Age</strong></h2>

<p>The think tank warns that the UK is "sliding back into the two nations of the Victorian era, marked by a widening gulf between mainstream society and a… poverty-stricken underclass."</p>

<p>Drawing parallels between the current situation and the Victorian Age, it says that the modern Britain is becoming similarly "entrenched" with extreme social inequality marked by poverty, family breakdown, joblessness, addiction, educational failure and more.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"For too many, Britain is broken and the gap between the haves and have-nots is in danger of becoming a chasm," says the report's foreword, signed by Mervyn King, a former Bank of England governor, and others.</p>

<p>The report points out that average weekly wages in Britain have remained more or less the same since the 2008 financial crisis.</p>

<p>During lockdowns, domestic abuse helpline calls surged by 700 per cent, and mental health issues escalated, especially among young people.</p>

<p>"One in 5 young people were left facing mental health challenges after the pandemic."</p>

<p>It also found that severe school absence increased by 134 per cent, while welfare payments rose significantly to 1.2 million people availing it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report warns that if the current trend continues, by 2030, a quarter of children between the ages of five and 15 will suffer from a mental health disorder.<br />

<p>The shocking research report was released on Wednesday (Nov 8), laying out data that shows how critical the challenge really is.&nbsp;As per the report, in 2019, an estimated 28 per cent of the global working-age population was exposed to solar ultraviolet radiation while working outdoors.</p>

<p>It included an unimaginably large chuck of the global population - nearly 1.6 billion individuals aged 15 or older.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Making matters worse, the report also suggests that nearly 19,000 people from 183 countries succumbed to nonmelanoma skin cancer in 2019. More than half of these fatalities, about 65 per cent, were males.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the key point of unprotected exposure while working outdoors was highlighted in the report, it also called on governments and&nbsp;employers to take steps to address the pressing need for&nbsp;measures to prevent these deaths.&nbsp;</p>

<p>WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Unprotected exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation at work is a major cause of occupational skin cancer. But there are effective solutions to protect workers from the sun's harmful rays and prevent their deadly effects."</p>

<p>According to a report published in Bloomberg, Israeli troops are massing for a suspected ground invasion of Gaza. The country's national security establishment and public have been demanding retribution for the attacks carried out by the Hamas militants over the weekend, which took the lives of more than 1,300 Israelis.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, it will be a complicated task for the Israeli Army to carry out a ground invasion considering the dense population of Gaza, its complex underground network of tunnels and the threat that the Israelis, Americans and others have been facing as hostages.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The problem is that it's basically house-to-house fighting once you get into Gaza. And so it could be a heavy price," said former US defence secretary and CIA director Leon Panetta on Tuesday (Oct 10) while speaking on Bloomberg Television's "Balance of Power."</p>

<p>"But on the other hand, I think it's very clear that Israel has made the decision that they have got to crush Hamas in Gaza," he added. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The GHI continues to be a flawed measure of hunger and does not reflect India’s true position. The index is an erroneous measure of hunger and suffers from serious methodological issues. Three out of the four indicators used for the calculation of the index are related to the health of children and cannot be representative of the entire population. The fourth and most important indicator Proportion of Undernourished population (PoU) is based on an opinion poll conducted on a very small sample size of 3,000," said the ministry, in a statement.</p>

<p>The most vulnerable people and the poorest countries of the world will be the hardest hit, who have not taken enough steps to contribute to the fossil fuel emissions that increase temperatures. However, the impact of climate change has been becoming increasingly severe across the world, as rapid warming can be witnessed in regions in the northern hemisphere and around the poles.</p>

<p>The high temperatures in Europe "exacerbated the severe and widespread drought conditions, fuelled violent wildfires that resulted in the second largest burnt area on record, and led to thousands of heat-associated excess deaths," stated WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas.</p>

<p>Across the continent, temperatures rose 1.5C in 30 years from 1991 to 2021, as per the report of The State of the Climate in Europe 2022. The report stated that last year severe heat killed more than 16,000 people, while damages caused by floods and storms accounted for $2 billion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Unfortunately, this cannot be considered a one-off occurrence or an oddity of the climate," stated Copernicus Director Carlo Buontempo in the report.</p>

<p>"Our current understanding of the climate system and its evolution informs us that these kinds of events are part of a pattern that will make heat stress extremes more frequent and more intense across the region," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per&nbsp;the report, the outflow is not especially alarming because India can produce new millionaires. The analysis projects that by 2031, there will be a spectacular 80 per cent&nbsp;rise in the population of high-net-worth individuals, making India one of the world's wealth markets with the quickest growth rates during this time. Financial services, healthcare, and other sectors will be particularly important drivers of this development.</p>

<p>As the standard of living rises, it has also noticed&nbsp;a trend of wealthy people returning to India, and it expects a significant number of these people to return in increasing numbers.</p>

As per flight radar data, the Indian plane entered the airspace north of Lahore at approximately 7:30 pm It then proceeded further into Pakistani territory, reaching Gujranwala, before finally returning to Indian airspace around 8:01 pm. The aircraft maintained a ground speed of 454 knots during this time. Response from Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority A senior official from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) mentioned that such occurrences were not uncommon, as international regulations allow aircraft to deviate from their intended flight path in the event of adverse weather conditions. Flight diversions and delays In response to the prevailing poor visibility caused by the weather conditions, several flights had to be diverted or experienced delays. The CAA spokesperson informed that the weather warning for Lahore had been extended until 11:30 pm on Saturday, as the visibility at Allama Iqbal International Airport was recorded to be 5,000 metres. Thailand ranked at number 4 with 16.5 million digital transactions followed by South Korea with 8 million worth of transactions, the data from MyGovIndia has stated.</p>

<p>The 'India Stack' refers to the nation of India's digital public infrastructure, which includes the Aadhar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), or digital payments, and Digilocker (an online storage platform).</p>

<h2><strong>Magnitude of decline in HNWIs’ wealth</strong></h2>

<p>According to the report, global HNWIs' wealth declined by 3.6 per cent&nbsp;to $83 trillion in 2022, marking the most significant dip&nbsp;between 2013 and 2022. Both diversified investment instruments and equity have experienced declines in HNWIs' wealth. Additionally, the number of HNWIs has also decreased by 3.3 per cent, reaching 21.7 million in 2022.</p>

<p>Notably, the steepest decline was observed in North America. In terms of affluents, North America (46%) and the Asia-Pacific region (32%) account for the largest share of global wealth value and population size.</p>

<h2><strong>Untapped potential in affluent segment</strong></h2>

<p>Despite holding approximately $27 trillion in assets, representing nearly 32% of total HNWI wealth, about34% of firms are not exploring the potential of this affluent segment, the report reveals.</p>

<h2><strong>Positive outlook for India</strong></h2>

<p>The report brings good news for India, as the country, along with Indonesia, had a successful year in the Asia Pacific region. India's stock market exhibited notable growth over the past year. The BSE Sensex recorded a year-on-year gain of 4.4%, while Nifty 50 gained 4.3%. Moreover, there has been a relative increase in both the wealth and population of HNWIs in India.</p>

<h2><strong>Indian HNWIs thrived: Report&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Although the current year has witnessed a decline in HNWIs' wealth, the previous year's Capgemini report, based on 2021 data, highlighted a growth of 10.5% in the HNWI population in India.</p>
