<p>In a statement, the Ministry of National Defence stated, "North Korea's Kim Jong Un is believed to have arrived in Russia early this morning via a private train."</p>

<p>As per&nbsp;Russian state news agency Ria Novosti, the train crossed the border into the Primorsky region from North Korea. Visual evidence shows&nbsp;a train composed of dark green carriages being towed along a railway track by a locomotive from Russian Railways.</p>

<p>A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will take place in Russia’s Far East, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, as reported by Russian news agency TASS.</p>

<p>"We are not telling yet [where talks will take place] in the Far East," he said, adding that the talks will be held between the two delegations as well as in a one-on-one format, followed by an official dinner.</p>

<h2><strong>A grand send-off</strong></h2>

<p>North Korean state media published images showing Kim Jong Un passing by honour guards and throngs of citizens carrying the national flag and bouquets. They also featured photographs of him bidding farewell from his green-and-yellow armoured train as it departed from the station, reported the Associated Press.</p>

<p>The polls being held across Russia come ahead of presidential elections planned for next year expected to prolong Putin's rule until at least 2030.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Most of his opponents are in exile or in jail. Moscow has criminalised criticising the Ukraine invasion and has already detained thousands of people over this.</p>

<p>Ahead of voting in annexed Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, Russia-appointed authorities set up mobile polling booths. Moscow even claimed that a polling station was attacked by a Ukrainian drone.</p>

<p>Voting was also taking place in Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ukrainian security services said they had compiled a list of "collaborators" helping to organise the voting and vowed retribution.&nbsp;</p>

<p>AFP quoted voters in Rostov-on-Don, a southwest city close to Ukraine's border. The city was attacked by drones this week. They said that they were worried about the conflict.</p>

<p>"We just want to live in peace with our children," said 40-year-old Nina Antonova.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Everyone is worried about this one problem -- the war. We don't have any other concerns," said 84-year-old Anatoli, a pensioner who declined to give his last name. &nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Mayoral vote in Moscow&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Russian capital Moscow is carrying out a mayoral vote. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin is a Kremlin loyalist who has been in the post since 2010. In recent days, he has been getting a lot of publicity on television. He has been seen opening new regional train routes, renovated hospitals, motorways and more.</p>

<p>In the last 13 years, Sobyanin has presided over many mega-projects in Moscow.</p>

<p>He was almost defeated in 2013 by Alexei Navalny, the most prominent face of political opposition in Russia.</p>

<p>Navalny was jailed in 2020 on old fraud charges his allies say were a pretext to end his political work. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Sobyanin is the easy favourite. He is up against the grandson of a veteran Communist politician and a little-known candidate from a new party dubbed "New People".&nbsp;</p>

Russia claims party that backs Putin leading polls in annexed Ukraine regions

<p>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday (September 8), accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of killing Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin who died in a plane crash in&nbsp;August.</p>

<p>He underlined the incident showed that the Russian leader was now politically weak.</p>

<p>“The fact that he killed Prigozhin - at least that's the information we all have, not any other kind - that also speaks to his rationality, and about the fact that he is weak. It is important that he became politically weak," Zelenskiy said in a speech.</p>

<p>On August 23, Wagner mercenary group chief Prigozhin lost his life along with nine others in a plane crash. The plane had&nbsp;departed from&nbsp;Moscow for Saint Petersburg.</p>

<h2><strong>Who all died in the crash?&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency released the names of two pilots and one flight attendant who lost their lives in the deadly crash. The agency cited the airline to confirm that Captain Aleksei Levshin, co-pilot Rustam Karimov, and flight attendant Kristina Raspopova died.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The agency also released the names of those who were onboard, apart from Prigozhin. The list includes Sergey Propustin, Evgeniy Makaryan, Aleksandr Totmin, and Nikolay Matuseev. Two names stood out — Valeriy Chekalov and Dmitry Utkin. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Chekalov was a senior aide to Prigozhin designated by the US Treasury for acting "for or on behalf of Prigozhin and has facilitated shipments of munitions to the Russian Federation".</p>

<p>On the other hand, Utkin was Prigozhin's right-hand man who helped establish the mercenary group and bore the call sign "Wagner".&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Prigozhin expressed risks to his life in video</strong></h2>

<p>In a video that was released late last month, Prigozhin could be seen speaking about speculations over his well-being and possible threats to his security. He said that he was in Africa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the short video published by the Grey Zone Telegram channel which is linked to his Wagner Group, Prigozhin is seen sharing: "For those who are discussing whether I'm alive or not, how I'm doing - right now it's the weekend, second half of August 2023, I'm in Africa."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"So for people who like to discuss wiping me out, or my private life, how much I earn or whatever else - everything's ok," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While decoding the details of the video, it was found that it was indeed filmed in Africa as his camouflage attire, hat, and the watch on his right hand matched his appearance in a video released on August 21, which he also claimed was filmed in Africa. WION can't independently verify the video.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The reference to "weekend" in the video implied the latest clip must have been made on August 19 or 20, just three or four days before Prigozhin and other top Wagner figures and bodyguards were killed in the crash.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kremlin has denied any involvement but there have been claims and counterclaims. However, Prigozhin's comments in the video reflect his awareness of the risks to his life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Saudi Arabia and Russia are global leaders in oil production. The countries announced on Tuesday that voluntary oil supply cuts will be extended till the end of the year.</p>

<p>Russia will roll over its decision to reduce oil exports by 300,000 barrels per day (bpd), while Saudi Arabia will extend its voluntary oil output cut of 1 million bpd.</p>

<p>Kremlin said Putin and Mohammed bin Salman both, were highly satisfied with cooperation between the countries within OPEC+ framework. OPEC+ is the group of leading oil producers.</p>

<p>"It was noted that the agreements reached on reducing oil production, combined with voluntary commitments to limit the supply of the commodity, make it possible to ensure the stability of the global energy market," the Kremlin said in a readout of the call.</p>

<p>In October last year, OPEC+ decided to reduce output by two million barrels per day. The decision had enraged the US who at the time had accused Saudi Arabia of siding with Russia amid the Ukraine war.</p>

<p>Oil prices spiked in July, the first month of Saudi-only cut taking effect. The prices cleared USD 80 per barrel threshold which analysts often describe as price Saudi Arabia needs to balance it budget.</p>
