<p>He also stated that Washington sought to monopolise the international efforts aimed at forging peace in the region, further condemning the US for not seeking compromises acceptable to both sides.</p>

<p>"I think that many people will agree with me that this is a vivid example of the failure of United States policy in the Middle East," Putin told visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.</p>

<p>"The US tried to monopolise the solution (of the crisis between Israel and Palestinians), but, unfortunately, was not concerned with finding compromises acceptable to both sides, but, on the contrary, promoted its own ideas about how it should be done and put both sides under pressure. That's both sides, at one or another," he said.</p>

<h2><strong>Putin calls for creation of Palestinian state</strong></h2>

<p>Putin accused the West of not taking into consideration the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people.</p>

<p>He said that it was necessary to "implement the decisions of the UN Security Council on the creation of an independent sovereign Palestinian state."</p>

<p>A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov released a statement saying that the creation of a Palestinian state was the "most reliable" solution for peace in Israel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The risk of third forces becoming involved in this conflict is high," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by the TASS news agency.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is very important to find ways as soon as possible to move towards some kind of negotiation process in order to reduce this escalation and move away from a military solution," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Aslan Bzhania, the leader of the separatist region, said that an agreement had been signed for a permanent naval base in the Ochamchira region. <p>"This is all aimed at increasing the level of defence capability of both Russia and Abkhazia, and this kind of interaction will continue," he said, adding, "There are also things I can't talk about."</p>

<p>Telegraph newspaper reported, citing British intelligence, that the Russian Black Sea Fleet is “struggling to deal with concurrent threats on the southern flank of the Ukraine war” and “fleet activities are likely relocating to Novorossiysk in the face of threats to Sevastopol”.</p>

<p>A former Russian journalist was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison in absentia for allegedly voicing her opposition to the ongoing war in Ukraine and calling President Vladimir Putin a “murderer.”</p>

<p>The Basmanny District Court found Marina Ovsyannikova guilty of disseminating false information about the Russian army, Russian state-backed news agency TASS reported Wednesday (Oct 4).</p>

<p>Reuters reported that she faced criminal prosecution for "spreading knowingly false information about the Russian Armed Forces" in connection with a July 2022 protest.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to reports, she allegedly stood on a river embankment opposite the Kremlin and waved posters calling Putin a “murderer” and Russian soldiers “fascists.”</p>

<p>"How many more children must die before you will stop?" the poster read.</p>

<p>She was later put under house arrest. According to her lawyer, she fled to an undisclosed European nation along with her daughter.</p>
