<p>Notably, the inspiration for the design originated from India's national bird, the peacock. The colour scheme, comprising blues, greens and saffron, pays homage to the Indian flag as well as First Lady Jill Biden's favourite colours.</p>

<p>"The inspiration for our design really began with the peacock, India's national bird. From the invitations to the programmes to the pavilion, we wanted to evoke that breathtaking feeling when it extends its tail, unveiling its colourful beauty, majesty, and strength," revealed the social secretary.</p>

<p>"Green draping will flow from the ceiling, giving way to tables cloaked in the saturated blues and greens of Indian silks, falling onto a carpet of navy blue. The hues, not only a nod to our guests, but also to our host, as blue and green are also two of Dr (Jill) Biden's favourite colours," added Elizondo.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The tables will be adorned with arrangements of blooms, with the colour of the flowers mirroring the saffron of India's flag.</p>

<p>During the toasts, which will be delivered by the president and the prime minister, an eagle lectern will be used, a customary feature of State Dinners.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The backdrop behind them will showcase an iconic eagle and peacock, the national birds of both countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"For this dinner, embossed on the rich forest green backdrop behind them, we have replicated that iconic eagle and a peacock in the same style, framing the leaders with their national birds. <p data-testid="paragraph-0">The Biden administration will make it easier for Indians to live and work in the United States, using this week's state visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce help for skilled workers in entering or remaining in the country, according to three people familiar with the matter.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-1">The State Department could announce as soon as Thursday that a small number of Indians and other foreign workers on H-1B visas will be able to renew their visas in the US, without having to travel abroad, one of the sources said, part of a pilot programme that could be expanded in coming years, said a Reuters report.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-2">Indian citizens are by far the most active users of the US&nbsp;H-1B programme and made up 73% of the nearly&nbsp;442,000 H-1B workers&nbsp;in fiscal year 2022.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-3">"We all recognize that mobility of our people is a huge asset to us," said another US&nbsp;official. "And so our goal is to approach that in a sort of multifaceted way. The State Department already has been working very hard to find creative ways to make changes to things."</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-4">A State Department spokesperson declined to comment on questions about which visa types would qualify or the timing of the pilot launch. Plans for a pilot programme were first reported by Bloomberg Law in February.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-5">"The pilot would begin with a small number of cases with the intention to scale the initiative over the following one to two years," the spokesperson said, while declining to define small.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-6">The steps could change and are not finalized until they are announced. The White House declined to comment.</p>

<p data-testid="paragraph-7">Each year, the US&nbsp;government makes 65,000 H-1B visas available to companies seeking skilled foreign workers, along with an additional 20,000 visas for workers with advanced degrees. The visas last for three years and can be renewed for another three years.</p>

Indian citizens are by far the most active users of the US H-1B programme and made up 73% of the nearly 442,000 H-1B workers in fiscal year 2022. "We all recognize that mobility of our people is a huge asset to us," said another US official. "And so our goal is to approach that in a sort of multifaceted way. The State Department already has been working very hard to find creative ways to make changes to things." A State Department spokesperson declined to comment on questions about which visa types would qualify or the timing of the pilot launch. Plans for a pilot programme were first reported by Bloomberg Law in February. "The pilot would begin with a small number of cases with the intention to scale the initiative over the following one to two years," the spokesperson said, while declining to define small. <p>PM Modi was greeted by officials when he landed at the JFK airport and after that, he met the Indian diaspora. The Indian prime minister then left for the hotel, where there was tight security as seen in the videos and photos shared on social media platforms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After arriving in the US, he shared some pictures on Twitter and wrote: "Landed in New York City. Looking forward to the programmes here including interaction with thought leaders and the Yoga Day programme tomorrow, 21st June."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Previously, Modi has visited the US a total of five times since taking oath as the prime minister in 2014. However, this particular visit has been termed as a milestone in ties between the two countries that would deepen and diversify their partnership as this will be his first with the full diplomatic status of an official state visit.&nbsp;<br />
