Shadab has 47 wickets in 34 ODIs at an economy rate of 4.80 under his belt.

He was part of Pakistan squad that won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England.

"Now, I am heading towards the World Cup. Since we are going there regularly from the last three years, it is not really difficult to acclimatise with the condition. All I have to do is get in my rhythm. Otherwise, you are mentally prepared for the challenge. I have already played in a competitive tournament - Champions trophy - which we won. "I am hugely disappointed by today's events as I was looking forward to an interactive, productive and constructive discussion, which was aimed at taking Pakistan cricket forward," PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said in an official statement.

"Yesterday, we called on the honourable Chief Minister of Balochistan and engaged in fruitful and enlightening discussions to promote cricket in Balochistan.

It is, therefore, particularly disappointing that the representative from Balochistan also refused to return for the BoG meeting. We reaffirm our commitment to doing what is right for Pakistan cricket and once again becoming a strong force in the world game, and must not get derailed by personal agendas," he added.

Azhar Ali, who scored just a total of 22 runs in the first test, could also be promoted up the order to open with Hafeez with leg-spinning all-rounder Shadab Khan possibly coming into the squad to bolster the team's bowling stocks. The 20-year-old Shadab, however, is battling a groin injury that ruled him out of the first test and which thwarted coach Mickey Arthur's plans of combining him with Yasir to attack Australia's inexperienced batting lineup.

Hafeez was dropped from the Test side after faring poorly in the first three matches of Pakistan's series in England two years ago.

Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been banned for four months over a failed drug test, authorities said Friday, after he pleaded guilty to violating anti-doping rules.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) punished the 26-year-old after he tested positive for a "prohibited substance" during the domestic Pakistan Cup earlier this year.

Shehzad "has been banned for four months effective from 10th July 2018... for violating the board's anti-doping rules", the PCB said in a statement.

He "accepts that he has committed the violations of the PCB rules, but had no intent to cheat or enhance his performance", it added.

Authorities did not identify the substance over which Shehzad was banned.

"I inadvertently consumed a medicine which as an experienced cricketer I should have refrained from," Shehzad said on Twitter after the decision was announced.

"This is a lesson for me... and I hope to make a strong comeback from here."

The right-handed opener, who was suspended in July over the failed test, will also deliver anti-doping lectures "as a part of his rehabilitation process", the PCB said.

The Lahore-born Shehzad played 13 Tests, 81 one-day internationals and 57 Twenty20s for Pakistan, but has failed to impress selectors recently.

His last appearance for Pakistan was in a T20 against Scotland in June.

Riaz, meanwhile, who has not played Test cricket since October and was overlooked for Pakistan's series in England and Ireland earlier this year, is more likely to be able to put pressure on Australia with his reverse swing.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed will be backed up as wicketkeeper by Mohammad Rizwan, who played his sole Test against New Zealand in Hamilton almost two years ago.

Hafeez, who has been called thrice for flexing his elbow more than the permissible 15 degree, was only recently allowed to resume bowling on May 1, after the latest case of him being reported during the game against Sri Lanka in 2017 had him suspended.&nbsp

However, the all-rounder underwent a reassessment on April 17 at the Loughborough University and the results of the evaluation indicated that the elbow extension was within the permissible 15-degree limit.

While speaking media, the all-rounder had made suggestions that the officials were perhaps a little lenient regarding bowlers from certain countries.&nbsp

"There are so many things influencing all this - it has a lot to do with the power of [some] boards and nobody wants to take them on. Mostly there are soft corners and relations between people which no one wants to spoil. What I say is why not implement the rule and get every bowler in the world to go through [testing]. What's the difficulty in that?"

The all-rounder also questioned how on-field umpires called actions that had the minutest of bends beyond the stipulated 15 degrees but not the ones which fell out of bounds massively.&nbsp

"When match umpires called me, I went for my test only to find the flex was recorded up to 16, 17 and 18 degrees. I was surprised: how can anyone with the naked eye see flex from 15 to 16, when at times they are not able to call those whose flex is 25 and even 30-plus? So I have my doubts about this calling system. This is suspicious: why are match referees or on-field umpires not able to see those flexing up to 35 but me with 16 degrees?"
