<p>The 31-year-old winger missed PSG’s league opener against Lorient on Saturday due to a viral infection and was on the bench alongside star striker Kylian Mbappe and midfielder Marco Verratti.</p>

<p>At PSG, Neymar scored 118 goals in 173 appearances, winning several trophies, including five Ligue 1&nbsp;titles but failed to put his hands on the coveted Champions League trophy, which he last won with FC Barcelona in 2015.</p>

<p>"It is always difficult to say goodbye to an amazing player like Neymar, one of the best players in the world," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in a statement from the French champions.</p>

<p>"I will never forget the day he arrived at Paris Saint-Germain and what he has contributed to our club and our project over the last six years. We had a great moment, and Neymar will always be a big part of our history," he added.</p>

<p>Although Neymar’s transfer from PSG to Al Hilal is now sealed, the Saudi Pro League tried luring the world cup winners for France and Argentina, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, respectively, to join their club this&nbsp;summer.</p>

<p>Though Messi decided against heading to Saudi, where his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo now plies his trade (for Al Nassr), and instead joined Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS), Nasser Al-Khelaifi and PSG agreed to a multi-million deal for Mbappe (worth around 330 million Euros), only for Mbappe to give it a thumbs down and stay at PSG for this season.</p>

<p>Much like Mbappe, Neymar was also contracted till 2025 and was close to joining his former club FC Barcelona on a loan deal, which didn't materialise.</p>

<p>A prosecutor in Brazil fined soccer star Neymar 16 million reais ($3.3 million) for building a lake at his mansion on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro without an environmental license, authorities said Monday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The town council in Mangaratiba issued four fines for "environmental violations in the construction of an artificial lake at the player's mansion," the council secretariat said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The sanctions add up to more than 16 million reais," the statement said, a sum set out by the prosecutor's office in Mangaratiba, a tourist area around 130 kilometers (80 miles) from Rio where the Paris Saint-Germain star has his mansion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Neymar has 20 days to appeal the penalty, the amount of which had initially been set at five million reais, close to one million dollars.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On June 22, after complaints based on social media posts, authorities found several environmental violations at the luxury property, where workers were building an artificial lake and beach.</p>

<p>Authorities cordoned off the site and ordered all activity to cease, but Brazilian media reported that Neymar threw a party there and bathed in the lake.</p>

<p>Neymar's press office in Brazil did not respond to an AFP request for comment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Neymar, 31, is currently recovering from surgery on his right ankle, which he underwent in Doha in March.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The striker has not played since February and doubts have arisen about his staying at PSG.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Neymar bought the Mangaratiba mansion in 2016. According to Brazilian media, it sits on 10,000 square meters (107,000 square feet) of land and features a heliport, spa and gym.</p>

<p>Brazil football legend Pele congratulated Neymar Jr. after the latter surpassed his goalscoring record on Friday. Neymar netted Brazil's first goal in the knockout tie against Croatia at the World Cup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I saw you grow, I cheered for you every day and I can finally congratulate you for reaching my number of goals with Brazil. We both know that this is more than a figure,” wrote Pele in an Instagram post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this week, reports emerged that Pele had been moved to 'end-of-life' care or palliative care.&nbsp;Under palliative care, patients with&nbsp;potentially life-threatening diseases or conditions are not subjected to invasive tests or treatment.</p>

<p>However, his daughter&nbsp;Flavia Nascimento in an interview cleared that it was not the case.&nbsp;"It's pretty unfair people saying that he is in terminal condition, that he is under palliative care. Believe us: that's not it," she said.</p>

<p>Pele is regarded as the greatest footballer ever, having won three World Cups for Brazil – 1958, 1962, and 1970 – the only man ever to have achieved this feat.</p>

The Seleção fans are divided on whether to support their star player or not due to his open political support to far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro.</p>

<p>In the lead-up to the World Cup and the Brazilian presidential election, Neymar had promised to dedicate his first goal to Bolsonaro. However, some fans are happy that such a scene may not transpire up until the knockouts at least.</p>

<p>Another Brazilian fan said "the team is missing him [Neymar]"&nbsp;but it is the best result Brazil's had in the World Cup as&nbsp;"we would have had all these Bolsonaro supporters celebrating".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"As a player, Neymar's incredible, he's an artist. As a person, he leaves a lot to be desired. Not just his political opinions, but who he is. Instead of just enjoying his bling lifestyle, he could be investing in education, social projects, setting an example for kids... he could be the man."</p>

<p>"Without knowing us personally, (Bolsonaro) showed affection and put his chest and face forward believing in me and now I am doing the same," Neymar said at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I positioned myself and never said it, but in the most difficult moment of my life the president was the first one who publicly said he would be by my side," he added.&nbsp;</p>
