A recent study conducted in China, suggests that humble leaders of teacher groups help to increase professionals and engagement among team members.

The study found that teachers in the Chinese equivalent of professional learning communities (PCLs) were willing to share their knowledge and expertise and rate PCL leaders high in humility.

The reason for this was humble leaders made teachers feel more confident and empowered to share their knowledge because they made them feel like they had more control over the situation.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to venture out of the country on a trip to Kazakhstan next week. The announcement came from the Kazakh government's foreign ministry which stated that the visit will take place on September 14. Reportedly, Xi will meet Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the duo will hold bilateral talks aimed at deepening comprehensive strategic partnership and developing economic, cultural and trade cooperation. Following the trip to Kazakhstan, the Chinese leader is expected to visit Uzbekistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, where he might meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to experts, Xi's strategy of 'working-from-home', a direct consequence of his draconian 'zero-Covid' tolerance strategy was starting to have diplomatic consequences. It is pertinent to note that the last time Jinping stepped outside China was on a trip to the neighbouring country of Myanmar in January 2020, five days before his government locked down the city of Wuhan, the ground zero for the origin of coronavirus. Xi is reportedly trying to send a message across the table that he is as active as he was prior to the pandemic. While 65 million Chinese citizens have been locked under tough COVID-19 restrictions ahead of the mid-autumn festival, the country’s second-most important holiday after the Lunar New Year, Chinese leaders are starting to catch flights abroad. After months of campaigning and hustings, the UK has a new Prime Minister and it is not former chancellor Rishi Sunak. The Tory leader was a clear favourite at the beginning of the election trail.

After months of campaigning and hustings, the UK has a new Prime Minister and it is not former chancellor Rishi Sunak. The Tory leader was a clear favourite at the beginning of the election trail. However, somewhere along the way, Sunak lost the plot and surrendered the initiative to Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who never let go of the momentum. What were the reasons that Sunak and his popularity amongst the conservatives dived so steeply? WION takes a look and explores. Tax laundering One of the biggest thorns in Sunak's election campaign has been unfortunately his wife Akshata Murthy, the daughter of Indian billionaire and Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy. According to a report by The Guardian, Rishi was forced to explain details about how he managed his family's fortune, which is said to total $840 million and has led to him being routinely referred to as the UK’s richest MP. The majority of Sunak's fortune were derived from his marriage to Akshata who owns a 0.93 per cent stake worth $794 million in Infosys. Live updates | Liz Truss becomes new UK PM after beating Rishi Sunak Reports of Akshata touted to be wealthier than British Queen Elizabeth II with assets worth $495 million, according to Sunday Times were not received well by the masses. Moreover, Akshata was able to save millions of pounds in tax on dividends, which were collected from her family's IT business. Last year, she earned a dividend payment worth 11.6 million pounds ($15.1 million) as she owns about 0.9 per cent of Indian IT giant Infosys. After the issue snowballed into a major controversy, Akshata agreed to pay more tax on foreign income. However, the damage had been done by then. Read more: British finance minister Rishi Sunak's wife agrees to pay more tax on foreign income Sunak's tax cuts One of the biggest policy decisions to turn the tide in Truss' favour was Sunak's opposition to not cutting taxes. However, his counterpart, Truss believes that tax cuts will lead to extra spending and tax revenues and rescue the economy. While Truss' populist measure of immediate tax cuts has not received the approval of the economists, it sure has increased her popularity amongst the conservative vote base. It was at this stage that Truss started to pull away from Sunak in the race. Sensing that the margin was widening, Sunak and his team took a volte-face and announced that if elected to power, he will reduce the basic rates of income tax by 20 per cent by 2029. Read more: Trailing in UK PM race, Rishi Sunak promises 'radical' 20% income tax cuts Sunak stated that his immediate target was tackling inflation. However, once that is achieved, his government will slash one pence off income tax in 2024, as announced in his tenure as the chancellor. Afterward, another three pence will be struck off the income tax, come 2029. Additionally, Sunak pledged to scrap VAT on energy bills having vociferously opposed it for months. The green card controversy While the Akshata Murthy tax laundering controversy had barely died down, Sunak was quickly left red-faced as reports emerged suggesting that Sunaks had retained their US green cards, even after returning to Britain. Top members of the Conservative Party dashed his hopes of becoming the PM by questioning his commitment to the UK. “He (Sunak) has shown colossal naivety and the way he has arranged his affairs does not suggest he is even committed to the UK, but that he is keeping open the option of a career in finance in the United States,” a senior Tory leader told The Observer. It was only after much public and media pressure that Sunak confirmed he gave up the "green card" for the United States after he became Britain's finance minister. Sunak's lavish lifestyle As reported by WION, in July, Sunak visited a building site in Teesside, Northern England where he was spotted wearing $595 Prada suede loafers. The Conservative party leader was visiting Teesside to gather the support of Mayor Ben Houchen. However, more than the visit, it was Sunak's "pricey" loafers that grabbed the eyeballs. Read more: Tory leader Rishi Sunak wears $595 Prada loafers on a visit to a building site And this was not the first time that Sunak had garnered headlines for his expensive tastes. In 2020, as the Chancellor of the country, he was spotted using a $220 mug in the traditional pre-Budget photograph. Sunak didn't learn his lessons and came under fire last month as well for spending over $4,80,000 (£400,000) on a pool at his North Yorkshire property as UK residents braced for another heatwave and a rise in the cost of living. Read more: UK: Rishi Sunak's opulent private pool amid rising cost of living sparks row Sunak's aristocratic style Similarly, when Sunak decided to run for the Prime Minister's job, a clip from a video documentary went viral on social media platforms where Sunak could be seen talking about his "aristocratic" friends. "I have friends who are aristocrats, I have friends who are upper-class, I have friends who are, you know, working-class. Well, not working class," Sunak said in the BBC documentary titled 'Middle Classes- Their Rise & Sprawl'. The full Sunak clip is even more toe-curling pic.twitter.com/vIVI6UTPun — Conor Gogarty (@ConorGogarty) July 9, 2022 × He further remarked in the clip, "I mix and match and then I go to see kids from an inner-city state school and tell them to apply to Oxford and talk to them about people like me. And then I shock them at the end of chatting to them for half an hour and tell them I was at Winchester and one of my best friends is from Eton or whatever. And then they're like, 'Oh OK'." The video had brought a lot of flak for Sunak who was dubbed being as out of touch from reality. Since then, Sunak and his PR team had attempted to change the narrative by selling him as the 'underdog'. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

The $58,000 project, a part of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office aims “to promote the production of insects for human food and for use in the manufacture of animal feeds”, according to The Guardian report. The project is expected to run from March to December 2022 and is currently in operation in the North and South Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (Cafod), a charity based in England and Wales is funding the project. The organisation in a response to the publication stated that it was wrong to claim that "the programme is encouraging people to eat insects". However, the increase in population and scarcity of resources mean that tremendous strain is being put on water supplies, required in large quantities for beef farming. Thus, the project, at least on paper attempts to reduce the reliance on such natural resources by stating that insect-eating requires less land and water than conventional livestock. African caterpillars, migratory locusts, and black soldier flies are some of the insect delicacies put on the menu for the locals to eat. According to a Reuters report, apostolic sects do not believe in vaccination and rely on prayers. The government is trying to reach the apostolic church leaders in an attempt to persuade them and act rationally. Former Pakistan PM, Imran Khan has landed himself visibly in more trouble and critique following a statement that he made during a political rally on Sunday.

Khan was addressing a rally in Faisalabad where he said the government is stalling elections to bring the army chief of choice, adding that only a free and fair election can ensure political stability in Pakistan and the government is running away from doing so because they want to "install an army chief of their choice in November", he also said that the current Pakistani dispensation wants to do so because if a "patriotic Army Chief is appointed, he would ask them about their ill-gotten wealth".

The comments have seen sharp critique on Imran Khan and his choice of words, including that from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court and the military itself.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while taking to Twitter said that Khan's comments were "despicable utterances to malign institutions are touching new levels every day", adding, "He is now indulging in direct mud-slinging & poisonous allegations against Armed Forces & its leadership. His nefarious agenda is clearly to disrupt & undermine Pakistan."

Pakistan's defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif while addressing a press conference in Islamabad said that Imran Khan has become a threat to the country’s security, "Imran Khan made wrong statement about the army chief at the rally. Many army chiefs were appointed in Pakistan. The sanctity of some institutions is for Pakistan’s security, Imran Khan should not play with the country for its own interests".

The Islamabad High Court Chief Justice, Justice Athar Minallah while hearing a petition regarding the censoring of Imran Khan's speeches, censured Imran Khan over his COAS appointment remarks asking Imran Khan's consul to do some self-accountability.

In a very strongly worded statement, the Pakistani military's PR wing stated that "Pakistan Army is aghast at the defamatory and uncalled for statement about the senior leadership of Pakistan Army by Chairman PTI during a political rally at Faisalabad. Regrettably, an attempt has been made to discredit and undermine senior leadership of Pakistan Army".

The military statement reiterated the laid out procedure for the appointment of the COAS while expressing displeasure over Khan's comments said that "Senior politicians trying to stir controversies on appointment of COAS of Pakistan Army, the procedure for which is well defined in the constitution, is most unfortunate and disappointing. Senior leadership of Army has decades long impeccable meritorious service to prove its patriotic and professional credentials beyond any doubt. Politicising the senior leadership of Pakistan Army and scandalising the process of selection of COAS is neither in the interest of the state of Pakistan nor of the institution."

According to AFP, the decision dealt challenger Raila Odinga, who claimed there had been election fraud, a blow.

Last month, Odinga petitioned Kenya's highest court, stating he had "enough evidence" to demonstrate that he had, in fact, won the election.

To determine whether any anomalies were significant enough to invalidate the election, as was the case with the presidential election in August 2017 that Odinga also contested, judges have spent the last two weeks poring over boxes of evidence.

However, both candidates had pledged to uphold the court's decision. On September 13, Ruto will be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president.

Music transcends war, six months into the Russian invasion Kyiv dances on

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have inputs that Pakistan has shifted terrorist launch pads near the Line of Control (LoC) to push as many terrorists as possible into the Indian territory before the advent of the winter season. September and October have always been the peak months for the terrorists to cross over to the Kashmir region from across the border.

After the first snowfall, these mountains are fully covered with snow, making it difficult for the terrorists to cross over. And that's why before winter, Pakistan attempts to send across as many terrorists as possible.

The security forces have received input that Pakistan has shifted these terror launch pads from the earlier locations. These launch pads were at least four-five kilometres away from the LoC and now they have been shifted to half a kilometre distance from the LoC.

According to sources in security forces, these camps are perilously close to the Indian areas of Gurez, Neelam Valley, Keel, Tangdhar, Uri, Chakoti, Gulmarg, Poonch, Rajori, Sunderbani, and Nowshera sector.

The Indian army has been put on high alert after receiving these inputs. The surveillance on the LoC has been increased. Indian army is carrying out day and night patrolling whilst keeping an eye on any incursions using the latest gadgetry like drones, night vigil cameras, PTZ and thermal imaging cameras.

''We have been provided with the best and latest arms and ammunition. Also the new gadgetry due to which we are able to face any difficulty like dealing with terrorists or natural calamities. The new technology has helped us with keeping an eye on the enemy 24/7 and making sure that we don't allow anyone to cross our side. And by our vigil, we make sure the infiltrators don't get a chance to sneak in. We want to tell the citizens of our country that till the time we are securing these borders, they need not be afraid of anything," said Manoj Kumar, Naib Subedar, Indian Army.

According to information received from sources in intelligence agencies, Pakistan has shifted the active training camps in the areas of Balakot, Gadi Habibullah, Chelabandi, Shawnala, Dulai, Sansa, Kotli, Gulpur, Fagosh, and Dubli near the LoC.

Jammu and Kashmir Police DG, Dilbagh Singh had earlier said that most of the infiltration bids by terrorists from across the border have been foiled. But there have been a couple of successful bids as well. He also said that the terrorists are now sending weapons and drugs to Jammu and Kashmir with the help of drones.

In the last two weeks, there have been several infiltration bid attempts by terrorists from across the border. Around eight terrorists were gunned down in these attempts at various locations near LoC and the international border.

Reports also suggest that hundreds of rifles, pistols, and other arms and ammunition were sent from across the border with the help of drones. Security forces have recovered more than 200 pistols in the valley, which were being used for civilian killings by the terror groups.

Pakistan has shifted terror launch pads close to Line of Control, alert issued on the border

Irfan Pathan has said that David Warner's unacceptable captaincy was one of the fundamental reasons behind the Sunrisers Hyderabad's helpless run in IPL 2021.

Sunrisers Hyderabad gave over control to Kane Williamson after enduring losses in five of their six matches under David Warner's captaincy. Notwithstanding, the move didn't yield prompt profits as the Orange Army was given a 55-run drubbing to the Rajasthan Royals.

During a conversation on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan expressed shock at Sunrises Hyderabad's lifeless shows in IPL 2021 and called attention to that David Warner's captaincy and batting are to be accused generally.

"They surprised us. They were a top-four team for me. SRH's biggest problem was David Warner's captaincy, the way he was managing the team, and the way he was batting. He was batting very cautiously," he said.

"When Kane Williamson was made the captain later, it means franchise was not happy with him, the way he was making the decisions," he added.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad executives expressed they eased David Warner of his obligations as they needed to go with an overseas all-rounder. With Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson in great structure, they didn't have some other alternative yet to avoid Warner with regards to their playing XI and accordingly change the skipper also.

While featuring the absence of involvement with the Sunrisers Hyderabad middle order, Irfan Pathan scrutinized the choice of not playing Kedar Jadhav in the underlying phases of the league.

"We always talk about SRH that they don't have any experienced players in the middle. Kedar Jadhav did not play at the start although he is an experienced player. They played Suchith for a couple of matches and then again dropped him," he said.

"They will have to improve their combination and they do not have an out-and-out quick bowler, who can consistently bowl around 140 kph and keep performing on flat pitches," – he signed off.

Every year, the Natural History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) competition produces stunning images for the world, but among this year's best images is one that might be masking dark, sinister undertones.

The picture titled 'The bonobo and the mongoose' was clicked by Christian Ziegler in the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At first glance, it seems as though this is a moving scene between the two animals, in which one animal is taking care of another. However, according to experts, it's more likely that the bonobo took the young mongoose cub after slaughtering its mother.

On the Natural History Museum (NHM) website, the image carries the following text: "Bonobos are mainly herbivorous but occasionally they hunt. The mongoose pup – eventually released unharmed – may have been taken when its mother was killed."

According to the BBC, the Bonobo may have intended to eat the baby mongoose.

In a conversation with the BBC, a behavioural ecologist and evolutionary anthropologist Dr Barbara Fruth said that sometimes when Bonobos catch large prey, and the meal is too big, the ape does not immediately kill all its victims. Instead, they keep some of their prey alive as pets. Usually, these prey are eaten later.

Dr Fruth, who is the head of the LuiKotale Bonobo Project, and has been researching these animals for more than 20 years, thinks that this is most likely what was happening when the image was taken.

The tiny mongoose pup from the picture did eventually escape the grim fate and get its freedom.

Describing the scene, the photographer said: "The bonobo held and stroked the little mongoose for more than an hour," adding that the ape, carried "the pup carefully as it climbed a tree to eat fruit."
