A US teenager who was also a victim of human trafficking was given a five-year prison term and ordered to pay $150,000 (£130,350) to the family of the alleged rapist.

Later, she entered a guilty plea to deliberate injury and involuntary manslaughter, each of which carry a maximum 10-year prison sentence.

On Tuesday, Polk County District Judge David M Porter sentenced Lewis to five years of closely monitored probation and ordered her to pay $150,000 in compensation to Brooks' family. If she breaks the terms of her probation, she might receive a 20-year sentence.

"This court is presented with no other option," Judge Porter remarked in reference to the payment to the alleged rapist's estate.

The girl recalled how the 28-year-old had held her at knifepoint and had her accompany Brooks to his residence. She claimed to have stabbed Brooks in a fit of rage after he had raped her once more, taking a knife from the bedside table, according to the authorities.

School is all fun, the only thing that is not fun is "homework." As kids, nearly 80 per cent of kids don't like doing homework.

Hating homework is general, but have you ever heard of someone being allergic to it? No, right. But a video recently went viral where a boy claims to have an allergy to homework.

An unnamed boy, 11, was seen in the video crying and acting to avoid doing homework, claiming he has an allergy to it. The video went viral on mainland Chinese social media after his mother recorded the incident and posted it online, Xibu Juece reported.

The boy had been working on his homework since Sunday when he appeared to be sick and is seen in the video clutching a tissue over his nose. When his mother, Yu, noticed and asked what was wrong, the boy replied that he was experiencing an allergic reaction.

The mother further asked as to what he was allergic to; the boy then replied that he was allergic to the smell of the books. Yu then asked her son if this meant he could finish his homework, but the boy remained silent and rolled up the tissue in his nose. The kid sneezed and then a tear began to fall off his cheek.

The mother advised going to the doctor, but the kid refused. Yu then, getting furious, asked the boy to stop acting and resume his homework. She further asked how he suddenly developed this allergy and not earlier. The boy then replied that it was incubation time.

Yu claimed that this was not the first time her son had done this; he had been telling fancy stories since an early age.

The video went viral and created hilarity online.

A user said that an incubation period seems to be a bit long for the kid. Another user said that the boy might become an actor when he grows up.

However, some users showed concern for the boy as well. One user said that although this looks strange, it can be accurate as strong scents from books aren't uncommon these days. Another person suggested that the boy might be suffering from a psychological problem.

As reported extensively by WION, the Tesla founder is not willing to go ahead with the deal unless his demands about the reality of the bot accounts are explained by Twitter. The eccentric billionaire continues to claim that Twitter has close to 20 per cent bot accounts, as opposed to the five per cent that the company claims. Musk announced in July that he was suspending the deal agreement, alleging Twitter had concealed information about these accounts. Consequently, Twitter sued Musk to complete the transaction and has claimed that the issue is unrelated to the deal. It is pertinent to note that the trial starts next month on October 17. Reportedly, the new group will be called 'New Monetization Experiences' and will be led by Meta's former head of research Pratiti Raychoudhury. Snap Inc and Twitter Inc which are Meta's competitors have already launched paid tiers to unlock additional features. However, John Hegeman, Meta's head of ads and business products, said in an interview with the Verge, that the company is committed to growing the ads business and has no plans to let users pay to turn off ads. West Asia and Eastern Mediterranean are heating twice as fast as the global average, according to a new study conducted under the aegis of The Cyprus Institute’s Climate and Atmosphere Research Center and the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. Reportedly, the study reveals that the regions in the aforementioned geographical area are expected to witness 'unprecedented' heat waves. Furthermore, water scarcity caused due to rainfall shortage, longer-lasting and more severe droughts might impact the region's 4000 million populace. The report covered areas stretching from Greece and Egypt in the West to Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE as well as Iran in the east. It stated that the region witnessed an average increase of 0.45 C per decade from 1981-2019 when the global average stood at 0.27 C only. WATCH | WION Climate Tracker | Extreme heat hits Iraq and Saudi Arabia × If the changes are not clocked in quickly, the region might be heating by 5 C in the coming decades, making human survival extremely difficult. “This would imply severe challenges for coastal infrastructure and agriculture and can lead to the salinization of coastal aquifers," said Dr George Zittis, co-author of the report. Not only is the region becoming a victim of climate change, but it is also contributing immensely to the problem. The study states that oil-rich West Asia is expected to overtake European Union as the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases. Read more: Is climate change affecting wine's flavour? The study comes ahead of UN's Climate Change Conference, more colloquially known as the COP27 climate summit scheduled to take place in Egypt later this year. The scientists authoring the study have argued that strong collaboration among the countries is absolutely necessary if they are to cope with extreme climatic conditions. "Since many of the regional outcomes of climate change are transboundary, stronger collaboration among the countries is indispensable to cope with the expected adverse impacts." said another author of the study. Already delayed by several years, NASA's Artemis mission is proving a tough challenge for the premier space agency. After two postponements, NASA is reportedly targeting September 27 as the next possible launch date for the unmanned mission.

Already delayed by several years, NASA's Artemis mission is proving a tough challenge for the premier space agency. After two postponements, NASA is reportedly targeting September 27 as the next possible launch date for the unmanned mission. Reportedly, NASA informed about the date in a blog post on Monday by stating that a "70-minute launch window opens at 11:37 AM EDT on September 27" while the mission may end with an ocean splashdown of the Orion capsule on November 5. Furthermore, the space agency stated that apart from September 27, it has zeroed in on October 2 as the next date for the launch. However, the September 27 launch can only take place if NASA's engineering team can successfully carry out a test to fuel the Space Launch System (SLS). Additionally, it will require a waiver to avoid retesting batteries of the emergency flight system that detonates the rocket if it strays away from the designated path. The agency also gave an update about the repair work it had been undertaking after the failed launch due to leaks earlier this month. "Over the weekend, Artemis I teams completed repair work to the area of a hydrogen leak, reconnecting the ground- and rocket-side plates on the quick disconnect for the liquid hydrogen fuel feed line where two seals were replaced last week." read the blog post. Read more: NASA postpones Artemis I mission launch again as bid to plug hazardous leak fails As reported by WION extensively, the Artemis programme is NASA's successor to the Apollo lunar missions from fifty years ago. The only spaceflights to date to land humans on the moon's surface involved six Apollo missions between 1969 and 1972, during which twelve men made moonwalks. The SLS is the largest new vertical launch system NASA has created since the Saturn V rockets used in the 1960s and 1970s. However, the SLS-Orion spacecraft has so far cost NASA at least $37 billion, which includes design, construction, testing, and ground facilities. Its development has taken more than ten years and has been plagued by years of delays and billion-dollar cost overruns. Read more: Artemis-1 postponements: Elon Musk has a suggestion for NASA The first woman to walk on the moon might return to Earth as early as 2025 if the first two Artemis missions are successful, according to many analysts. However, in light of recent events, that target date is likely to be pushed back by a few years. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

Peiter "Mudge" Zatko, a reputable figure in the cybersecurity community, is a wild card in Elon Musk's legal ploy to void the $44 billion contract to purchase the social network.

Musk is trying to persuade a judge that he was tricked when he pushed his unsolicited bid on the firm, and Zatko's whistleblower complaint about "extreme, egregious deficiencies" in Twitter's defences against hackers helps him in this endeavour.

Zatko stated in his testimony before US Congressmen on Tuesday that he decided to come forward due to his concerns for both national security and potential harm to Twitter users.

I didn't release my whistleblower information to hurt Twitter or get even, claimed Zatko.

Far from it, I still support the organization's objective.

In an October trial in a Delaware court, Twitter has vowed to demonstrate that it did nothing wrong after dismissing 51-year-old Zatko's lawsuit as being without merit.

Zatko's claims might be rendered irrelevant if the court places emphasis on the fact that the richest man in the world neglected to conduct the fact-finding procedures generally connected with high-value transactions.

Back when he was a long-haired hacker determined to raise awareness about the dangers of inadequately secured federal computer systems, Zatko gave his first congressional testimony 24 years ago.
