Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company SKIMS which does a variety of intimate wear for all genders, is now the official underwear partner for the NBA, WNBA and USA Basketball. This means that the United States’s best basketball players will now wear SKIMS under their jerseys. The company was founded just four years ago and has become a major trendmaker in the segment.

In addition to outfitting NBA players on the court, the brand stated that it plans to show up “in unexpected ways” at key events, including NBA All-Star and the NBA In-Season Tournament. There are however no details on these activities but since the company is headed by Kim Kardashian, we can expect this to be fun.

In a statement, Kim said, “I am incredibly proud of Skims' partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of Skims' growing influence on culture. Together, Skims and the NBA will connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sport, and talent, and I look forward to seeing the partnership thrive.”

“The NBA’s modern approach and significant impact on pop culture, entertainment, and fashion is unparalleled in sports,” said Jens Grede, the brand’s co-founder and CEO, and added, “Our partnership marks a remarkable opportunity for Skims and the NBA to work together on what it means to engage the next generation of fans through basketball.”

Interestingly, SKIMS debuted its men's division just two weeks ago. There was in fact a starry campaign that dropped recently and it featured the likes of NBA All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Brazilian soccer player Neymar, San Francisco 49er Nick Bosa, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kim Kardashian (@kimkardashian) × In a statement, Kim said, “I am incredibly proud of Skims' partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of Skims' growing influence on culture. Together, Skims and the NBA will connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sport, and talent, and I look forward to seeing the partnership thrive.” “The NBA’s modern approach and significant impact on pop culture, entertainment, and fashion is unparalleled in sports,” said Jens Grede, the brand’s co-founder and CEO, and added, “Our partnership marks a remarkable opportunity for Skims and the NBA to work together on what it means to engage the next generation of fans through basketball.” Interestingly, SKIMS debuted its men's division just two weeks ago. There was in fact a starry campaign that dropped recently and it featured the likes of NBA All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Brazilian soccer player Neymar, San Francisco 49er Nick Bosa, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
"I feel good. I feel confident. We dropped one we shouldn't have on Thursday so we were determined to get one here," Maxey said.

"We had a slow start, we've got to fix that, but once we got our feet wet and guys got comfortable, we really executed and got stops, so that helped us."

Williamson, nagged by injuries as a rookie and again last year by a hamstring injury, hit 12-of-17 shots while Ingram made 11 of 17 to spark the Pelicans, who have missed the playoffs in four of the past five seasons.

"They carried us offensively and that's what they need to do night in and night out," Pelicans coach Willie Green said. "Their gravity generates quality shots for us and for themselves. I thought tonight they both did a spectacular job."

New Orleans limited the Knicks to 12 points in the first quarter and New York never recovered.

"That's the defense we want to see night in and night out," Green said. "We're flying around, contesting shots, having each other's backs."

NBA: Joel Embiid helps Philadelphia 76ers win against Toronto Raptors

NBA superstar guard Damian Lillard made a spectacular debut with the Milwaukee Bucks, scoring 39 points on Thursday to spark a 118-117 home victory over Philadelphia.

The 33-year-old American, obtained in a trade last month from Portland, had the highest-scoring debut in Bucks history in the season opener for both clubs.

Lillard made 9-of-20 shots from the floor, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range, and sank all 17 of his free throws while adding eight rebounds and four assists as Milwaukee fans roared with delight.

Seven-time All-Star guard Lillard scored 14 points in the final four minutes to deliver the Bucks over a stubborn Sixers team that battled to the final second.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 23 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Bucks, combining well in his first contest with Lillard as an inside-outside dual threat.

Tyrese Maxey scored 31 points, Kelly Oubre added 27 off the bench and reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Joel Embiid had 24 points for the Sixers, who were without star guard James Harden, left off the travel squad over fitness concerns.

Two-time NBA MVP Antetokounmpo, who signed a three-year contract extension worth $186 million with the Bucks on Monday, combined with Lillard on early baskets, a positive sign for their ability to unite.

Oubre sank a jumper, a 3-pointer and a dunk in a 14-0 run that lifted the Sixers ahead 102-94 with 6:47 to play.

Lillard hit a 3-pointer and added a 3-point play for nine points in a 19-2 run for a 113-104 Bucks lead.

The Sixers answered with a 7-0 run but Lillard sank a dramatic 3-pointer over Oubre and added two clutch free throws with 11.1 seconds remaining.

De'Anthony Melton's 3-pointer at the buzzer only trimmed the final margin of defeat for the Sixers.

Lillard scored 21 points in the first half, making his first basket for the Bucks on a jump shot with 3:57 elapsed. He netted 17 in the second quarter as Milwaukee pulled to a 63-54 halftime lead.

Harden didn't play in the pre-season for Philadelphia. Last season's NBA assists leader has missed practices for what the team called personal reasons.

His absence could be a violation of the NBA's new participation policy, adopted to ensure top players were more available for games televised nationally.

Suns' Booker, Beal out

The NBA's only other game Thursday had the Phoenix Suns at the Lakers, with Phoenix stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal sitting out due to injuries.

Beal, a guard obtained in the off-season from Washington, has lower back tightness that also kept him out for the Suns' 108-104 triumph over Golden State on Tuesday in their season opener.

Booker led the Suns with 32 points and eight assists in beating the Warriors but is sidelined with a left foot injury.

Two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant will lead the Suns against LeBron James and the Lakers, who play their home opener hoping to bounce back after a season-opening 119-107 loss at Denver on Tuesday.

NBA stars James and Durant have not played against each other in a regular-season contest since Christmas Day 2018.

Also Read: Premier League: Everton face 12-point penalty for financial breaches - report Seven-time All-Star guard Lillard scored 14 points in the final four minutes to deliver the Bucks over a stubborn Sixers team that battled to the final second. Suns' Booker, Beal out The NBA's only other game Thursday had the Phoenix Suns at the Lakers, with Phoenix stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal sitting out due to injuries.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Monday he is confident of remaining with the club despite not yet signing an extension to his existing contract.

NBA players not happy about sprinter Noah Lyles' 'World Champ' comments

NBA star and Milwaukee Bucks' ace player Giannis Antetokounmpo is not sure yet of signing a contract extension with the franchise when he becomes eligible for the same next month. The Greek Freak had signed a five-year $228 million supermax extension with the Bucks couple of seasons back and this season he'd be entering his third year of the deal.

Milwaukee, after Giannis becomes eligible for an extension on September 22, can offer him a maximum of three-year, $173 million deal. In an interview with the New York Times, the two-time MVP, however, said that the organisation still has something to prove before he signs an extension.

"Next summer it would make more sense for both parties. Even then, I don't know," said Antetokounmpo in the interview. "I would not be the best version of myself if I don't know that everybody's on the same page, everybody's going for a championship, everybody's going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do. And if I don't feel that, I'm not signing."

Antetokounmpo's current deal also includes a player option after 2024-25 season. The player, meanwhile, has said that 'numbers-wise it doesn't make sense' to sign an extension as of now.

"At the end of the day, I feel like all my teammates know and the organization knows that I want to win a championship," he told The NYT. "As long as we're on the same page with that and you show me and we go together to win a championship, I'm all for it. The moment I feel like, 'Oh, yeah, we're trying to rebuild' ... there will never be hard feelings with the Milwaukee Bucks."

Notably, after winning the NBA Championship in 2021, the Bucks had exited in Round 1 in last season's playoffs despite being number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Following their exit, they fired head coach Mike Budenholzer and hired former Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin as a replacement.

Canada's Basketball World Cup hopes have suffered a major blow with guard Jamal Murray, who helped the Denver Nuggets win the NBA title in June, pulling out of the event, saying his body needs more time to recover.

Thus, the 38-year-old LeBron would be entering his 22nd NBA season at that point -- which will bring him at par with Vince Carter for the longest career in league history. LeBron will be eager to stretch his career further to play with his son. "My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that's where I'll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year," James had stated. For Bronny, it remains to be seen how quickly he recovers from this horrific episode and whether it impacts his playing career in any way. For now, his recovery is important as it will take him some time to return to court. WATCH WION LIVE HERE You can now write for wionews.com and be a part of the community.
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson attained Chinese citizenship through naturalisation on Monday (July 24). As per reports in the Chinese media, the basketball player's maternal grandmother was born in Jamaica to a Chinese father and a Jamaican mother. The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) confirmed the development. With this, the 29-year-old forward has become the latest elite athlete to acquire Chinese nationality through naturalisation.
James Harden wants out of Philly. Philadelphia 76ers general manager Daryl Morey said on a radio talk show that Harden prefers 'to be somewhere else.' This development comes a day after Philly star and NBA 2022-23 MVP Joel Embiid said he wants to win a championship 'in Philly or somewhere else.'

Morey, however, was adamant while talking on 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday, July 18 that Harden's trade will only happen if the Sixers would continue to be a title contender.

"If we don't get either a very good player or something we can turn into a very good player, then we're just not going to do it," Morey said, according to the Philly Voice. "If James were to turn his mind around, we would all be thrilled. You've heard [Joel Embiid's] comments about that. But at this moment, he prefers to be traded, and we are attempting to honour that."

The Sixers GM also acknowledged the need to have a running mate for Embiid.

"We need to make sure that Joel Embiid, who is one of the best players on Earth, has a top running mate," said Morey. "But we know we need more talent, whether that's James returning or what we turn James into. And I would just say to the fans, obviously things right now aren't looking perfect...but at the end of the day, try not to focus too much on the roster in July."

NBA: James Harden 'prefers to be somewhere else,' says 76ers GM Daryl Morey

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has given fans a jolt with an interview gaining steam on social media on Monday discussing his desire to win an NBA title "in Philly or anywhere else."

The big man from Cameroon broke through for a first NBA Most Valuable Player award last season, his eighth with the 76ers.

But Philadelphia were eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs, later sacking coach Doc Rivers and hiring former Toronto coach Nick Nurse.

"I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes," Embiid said in an interview with LeBron James's longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter that occurred on Thursday at the Uninterrupted Sports Film Festival.

"I don't know where that's going to be, whether it's in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that. I want to see what it feels like to win that first one, and then you can think about the next one.

"It's not easy, but it takes more than one or two, three guys. You've got to have good people around you, and myself, every single day, I work hard to be at that level so I can make it happen. So, every single day, I'm working towards that."

By Monday, the interview was popping up on social media sites alongside speculation that it signalled Embiid could soon be seeking to force a trade.

The 76ers are already reportedly pursuing options for trading All-Star guard James Harden, who opted into this $35.6 million contract for next season so that the team could work out a deal with another team.

Embiid, who signed a four-year, $213 million contract extension in 2021 that runs through 2027, said last month that he hoped Harden might change his mind and decide to stay.

NBA: 76ers star Joel Embiid just wants to win Championship 'in Philly or anywhere else'

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will be going back to number 23 for his jersey in the upcoming season. LeBron has decided to change his jersey number from 6 to 23 in honour of Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell. The developments were confirmed to ESPN by James' longtime friend and agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.

"It's LeBron's decision," said Paul. "He chose to out of respect for Bill Russell."

Notably, the NBA retired Russell's iconic number 6 jersey from the league after his death last summer. While LeBron wore number 6 last season, he said in September last year that 'he's not sure of continuing to do so in future.'

"For us to lose such an icon, it was heartbreaking for all of us," James had told ESPN at the start of training camp. "I mean, no matter if you play the game, watch the game or a part of the game. We all know what Bill Russell meant to the NBA, obviously to the Celtics off the floor as well, as far as his heroism ... and what he meant to Black people, being able to speak about issues that are not comfortable.

"For me to be able to wear No. 6 this season -- I'm not sure if I'll continue to do it, but right now I'm going to wear it in honour of him. It means a lot to me."

As for James' history with number 6 is concerned, the NBA star first wore the number for Team USA and then decided to wear the same number for his stint with the Miami Heat. The reason behind choosing No. 6 at Miami was the retirement of No. 23 by the Heat in honour of Michael Jordan. James, however, went back to No. 23 for his second stint at Cleveland - that is - from 2014 to 2018. He continued to wear the same number for his first three seasons at LA as well before switching to No. 6 in the past two seasons.

Russell, known as an NBA legend, had scripted history when he became the first Black head coach in the NBA, winning the last two of his 11 championships with the Celtics as a player-coach. Russell also was a five-time MVP and a 12-time All-Star. In 2009, the NBA decided to name the NBA Finals MVP trophy after the star, who died aged 88.
