Donald Trump has lowered expectations of a quick breakthrough with Iran, saying US negotiators have been told “not to rush” into a deal. Trump insisted time remains on Washington’s side and confirmed the Hormuz blockade would continue until a final agreement is signed. The remarks come amid rising tensions over missile imagery, criticism from political opponents, and renewed Iranian claims that Tehran is not seeking nuclear weapons.

US intelligence reports say Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is operating from an undisclosed, heavily secured location amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict, limiting his public visibility.

US-Iran War: Mojtaba Khamenei Hiding In 'Undisclosed Location' Amid Tensions

Iran and United States are at the verge of signing a peace deal to end the war. However, the uncertainty around Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has continued as he has not been seen in public since taking over as the top cleric after his father and former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei's death. A new report citing US intelligence on Monday (May 25) stated that Mojtaba Khamenei is hiding in a secret location and communicates via an elaborate network of messengers. Ali Khamenei was killed on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli war with Iran. The elaborate arrangement is seen as a precautionary measures to prevent Israel from assassinating him. The US officials hinted that the delay in the deal is because messages are passed on to Mojtaba via a network of people and are usually dated by the time it reaches him. CBS report has quoted US officials citing US intelligence and said that Iranian leaders including Mojtaba are spending weeks in bunkers and trying to avoid communicating with each other. "Watching them try to figure out how to talk to each other is almost like watching a sitcom. They are completely exasperated,” one official said. “This is why you see people saying things like, ‘The supreme leader has agreed to the framework,’ or ‘We’re waiting to hear back on the final deal points.’ Every piece of information he receives is dated and there’s a lot of latency to his responses,” one official tells the network. The report claimed that even officials at the highest levels of the Iranian government don't know where Mojtaba is and have no way to contact him directly. Instead, messages are passed through a network of couriers created to obscure the supreme leader's location. Also Read: In response to WION, Rubio dismisses racist remarks on Indians as 'stupid' comments - VIDEO

US President Donald Trump held a lengthy phone call with Gulf leaders and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and hinted that the peace deal to end Iran war has been “largely negotiated.” He also said that both sides have agreed to reopen the Strait of Homuz. Iranian officials were also quoted in several reports saying the the Hormuz traffic will return to pre-war levels within 30 days of signing a deal with the United States. The deal has not yet been finalised but Pakistan, that is acting as a mediator has expressed hopes to host the two sides for a fresh round of talks. Trump also warned that the negotiations are proceeding in an “orderly and constructive manner” and US representatives have been advised to “not to rush into a deal." The conflict erupted after the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, and the Islamic republic responded with missile and drone attacks across the region. The United States and Iran have observed a ceasefire since April 8 while mediators push for a negotiated settlement, although the Strait of Hormuz has remained largely blocked.

Did Mojtaba Khamenei issue order demanding enriched uranium must stay in Iran?

Iran has reportedly hardened its position in ongoing negotiations with the United States, insisting that its stockpile of enriched uranium must remain inside the country. The stance directly challenges one of Washington’s key demands aimed at limiting Tehran’s nuclear capabilities. The development adds fresh uncertainty to already fragile talks, as concerns grow over Iran’s expanding uranium programme and the possibility of another major diplomatic standoff in the Middle East.

He also stressed the importance of the Persian Gulf, calling it a “blessing” that is part of Iranian identity and civilisation, and a key pathway for the global economy. This comes as the US continues its blockade of Iranian ports amid the conflict, with tensions continuing to flare over the Strait of Hormuz. “America's paper tiger bases can't even secure themselves, let alone the regional American-worshippers,” Mojtaba said in a post on X. In a separate post, he wrote, “The Persian Gulf is a blessing that transcends a mere expanse of blue waters; it is a part of our identity and civilization, a point of connection between nations, and a vital pathway for the global economy.” This comes a day after the supreme leader issued a warning to the United States on the day of National Persian Gulf Day, saying that a “new chapter” for the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is taking shape, adding that Tehran would secure the Gulf region and eliminate “the enemy’s abuses of the waterway.” In a message, Mojtaba said that the presence of Americans is the most important reason for insecurity in the region. “The presence of American aliens and their nesting in the lands of the Persian Gulf is the most important factor of insecurity in the region, and America's illusory bases lack even the ability to ensure their own security, let alone any hope that America could provide security for the region's dependents and Americanophiles,” he said. “By the grace and power of God, the bright future of the Persian Gulf region will be one without America, serving the progress, comfort, and welfare of its nations,” he added. ‘Foreigners have no place in Gulf, except at the bottom of its waters,’ says Mojtaba Khamenei in menacing warning to US

Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, posting a dramatic image alongside the message: “No more nice guy.”
The rhetoric comes as nuclear negotiations stall, with Washington insisting on strict curbs while Tehran refuses to back down under pressure. With deadlines approaching and geopolitical tensions rising, the standoff is entering a critical phase.
As the U.S. faces mounting pressure: from allies, voters, and legal constraints—the question remains: can diplomacy survive, or is escalation inevitable?
