Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently took a sword-making lesson from a Japanese sword master. He shared a video of himself making a katana, a traditional Japanese sword known for its sharpness.

<p>Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook, now Meta, on Sunday (Feb 4th) celebrated 20 years of the social media platform.</p>

<p>Posting a throwback video on Meta-owned social media platform Instagram, Zuckerberg wrote: "20 years ago, I launched a thing. Along the way, lots of amazing people joined, and we built some more awesome things. We're still at it, and the best is yet to come."</p>

<h2><strong>The video</strong></h2>

<p>The 25-second video, technically called a reel, featured the Meta CEO from his younger days, back when Facebook was first launched on February 4, 2004.</p>

‘The best is yet to come’: Mark Zuckerberg celebrates 20 years of Facebook

<p>If you are reading The Capitals on your smartphone, chances are that you just surfed through a Meta offshoot&nbsp;— WhatsApp, Instagram or the Nokia-sounding people connector, the Facebook. One of the three, if not all, are likely to be your eye to view the world, through the lens of&nbsp;internet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This week, Mark Zuckerberg co-founded Facebook — which has now extended into a Metaverse in its own right — turned twenty.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the beginning of twenty-first year of Facebook did not seem like 'connecting people' as Zuckerberg faced a rare scrutiny in the US capital. "You have blood on your hands," he was told by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.</p>

<p>Elsewhere in the world, the United States targeted sites linked to Iran-linked groups in Iraq and Syria, prompting strong reactions from Baghdad and Damascus.</p>

<p>In Europe, farmers rolled on their tractors in and around&nbsp;multiple capitals&nbsp;against increasing farming costs and high taxes.</p>

<p>While in the Germany's capital, scores of people led the demonstrations against resurgence of far-right 'alternatives' in the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Today, we begin an enormous and complex and vital undertaking: building a foundation for bipartisan AI policy that Congress can pass," Schumer told the meeting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tesla boss Musk, known for his critical views regarding AI, praised Schumer for the forum before stating that a 'referee' was needed to regulate the technology.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It's important for us to have a referee," Musk told reporters, adding that a regulator would "ensure that companies take actions that are safe and in the interest of the general public".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this year, Musk and a group of AI experts had called for a six-month pause in the development of AI systems, citing&nbsp;potential risks to society.</p>

<p>Norway will impose a $98,500 (1 million crowns) a day fine on Meta over privacy breaches, starting August 14, the country's data protection authority said on Monday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Datatilsynet, the Norwegian regulator had issued a warning about the fine last month if Facebook-owned Meta did not address privacy breaches identified by the body.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“As of next Monday, a daily fine of 1 million crown will start to apply,” Tobias Judin, head of Datatilsynet’s international section was quoted as saying by Reuters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Norwegian watchdog said Meta cannot harvest user data, including their physical location and employ it to send targeted advertising at them, a practice often used by most tech companies to generate revenue.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Mark Zuckerberg-owned company had up until August 4 to address the issue and inform the regulator that it had handled the issue. However, Meta failed to take a call and the watchdog took action, with fines running till November 3.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“According to Meta, this will take several months, at the very earliest, for them to implement...And we don’t know what the consent mechanism will look like. And in the (meantime), peoples’ rights are being violated, every single day," Judin added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is not the first instance when Meta has received a hefty fine amount. In May, the company was fined a record $1.3 billion (1.2 billion euros) by the European Union for failing to comply with a warning by the top EU court related to the data transfer of Facebook’s EU users to servers in the United States.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission (DPC), which acts on behalf of the EU, the social media giant failed to pay heed to a top court warning aimed at protecting users’ data from the security services in the US once it’s shipped to servers across the Atlantic.</p>

<p><meta name="uuid" content="uuidV6SaQ1UcpfYv" /><meta charset="utf-8" />Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has clapped back at Elon Musk and X, formerly known as Twitter, after Musk announced in the early hours of Sunday that the "Musk vs Zuck" fight will be live-streamed on the rebranded platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?” Zuckerberg replied to Musk on Threads.</p>

<p>Zuckerberg may have been referring to the dodgy quality of live streams on X, which even Musk has mentioned needs upgrading. Last week, Musk did a 53-second impromptu live to see if there had been improvements in the live streaming since he first raised the issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Regarding the fight, the Meta boss said he was prepared to enter the ring any day, but Musk had not agreed to the dates up until now.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I’m read today,” Zuckerberg said on Threads. “I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed. Not holding my breath.”</p>

<p>He continued, “I love this sport and will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.”</p>
