The mango seller named&nbsp;Gaurav Sanas has launched the scheme at his&nbsp;Gurukripa Traders and Fruit Products shop in Pune.&nbsp;Explaining the rationale behind the decision,&nbsp;Sanas said it was done so as to bring back customers after the three-year pandemic.&nbsp;

"After Covid, it was seen that people were losing interest in Alphonso due to its high price. So we started this scheme of offering to sell mangoes on EMI in order to bring back the customers. They can get it on EMI through credit cards and debit cards," Sanas was quoted as saying by ANI.&nbsp;

Sanas claimed that his outlet is the first in the country to have explored the EMI option to sell mangoes. He added that if ACs and refrigerators can be brought using EMI, why not fruits?&nbsp;

"We thought if refrigerators, ACs and other appliances can be bought on EMI, why not mangoes? Everyone then can afford mangoes as well," he added.

To be eligible for the scheme, a consumer should have a&nbsp;credit card and buy mangoes worth Rs 5,000 at least. After the mangoes are purchased, the amount will be converted into EMIs of three, six or 12 months - whatever the consumer deems feasible.&nbsp;

Sanas added that the price of mangoes at his shop ranged anywhere between Rs 600-1300 per dozen. Notably, four customers have already availed the EMI facility to buy the mangoes.&nbsp;

Alphonso mangoes also known as Hapus originated in India and are widely regarded as the top variety for their succulent taste and texture. Their high demand leads to an increase in price leaving many people no choice but to pass on the opportunity to devour their taste.&nbsp;

Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Sanas said it was done so as to bring back customers after the three-year pandemic. "After Covid, it was seen that people were losing interest in Alphonso due to its high price. So we started this scheme of offering to sell mangoes on EMI in order to bring back the customers. They can get it on EMI through credit cards and debit cards," Sanas was quoted as saying by ANI. He added that if ACs and refrigerators can be brought using EMI, why not fruits? "We thought if refrigerators, ACs and other appliances can be bought on EMI, why not mangoes? Everyone then can afford mangoes as well," he added. To be eligible for the scheme, a consumer should have a credit card and buy mangoes worth Rs 5,000 at least. After the mangoes are purchased, the amount will be converted into EMIs of three, six or 12 months - whatever the consumer deems feasible. Notably, four customers have already availed the EMI facility to buy the mangoes. The two countries have signed a framework agreement for implementing "2 Vs 2" Agri market access.&nbsp;

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina has sent 2600 kg of Haribhanga mangoes to the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She also sent mangoes to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, Tripura CM Biplab Deb in what is seen as Dhaka's Mango diplomacy.

The Mangoes reached Bangladeshi High Commission in Delhi on Monday and were dispatched to the Ministry of external affairs. The mangoes reached Kolkata on Sunday via Benapole Petrapol land border and were later transported to Delhi via train.

"We have very sweet and delicious mangoes and we produced plenty of them. We would like to share our happiness and of course, delicious mangoes with our neighbours and friends in this historic year of Mujib Borsho and Golden Jubilee year of our independence and therefore, we sent mangoes as a gift to our neighbours and friends. Let them share our joys and happiness,"&nbsp;Bangladesh Foreign Minister,&nbsp;Dr A.K. Abdul Momen told WION.

Haribhanga mangoes are cultivated in the northwestern part of the country, with Rangpur district being the key focus area. In the past, PM Hasina has sent Hilsa fish, one of the most sought, to Indian leadership.

"Mango season in Bangladesh lasts for four months, from May to September and harvesting peaks during June-July. Every year Bangladesh farmers harvest around 2.70 to 2.80 million tonnes of Mango,"&nbsp;Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Mohammad Imran explained to WION.

Notable Bangladeshi mango varieties include Haribhanga, Gopalbogh, Khirsapat, Himsagar, Mohonbhog, Amropali.

India, Bangladesh share good relationship, with Indian PM Modi visiting the country earlier this year for the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of Bangladesh and the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Both countries are focusing on connectivity and increasing trade.&nbsp;

Apart from inflicting loss of lives and properties, the recent thunderstorm has also destroyed the mango harvest in northern India.

One of the affected farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district told ANI on Monday, that he suffered a loss of Rs 1 lakh.

He appealed to the government to provide give him an aid.

"I have suffered a loss of about Rs 1 lakh. It will be good if the government provides us compensation, otherwise we are destroyed," the farmer said.

According to the Union home ministry, at least 80 people have died across five states: West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi-NCR in the past two days due to thunderstorms and lightning strikes.

In Uttar Pradesh alone, over 50 people have died, whereas 14 people have lost their lives in West Bengal and another 12 in Andhra Pradesh.

The latest devastation comes nearly two weeks after dust and thunderstorm claimed 134 lives injured 400 people in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

As many as 71 people lost their lives in five states, including 42 in Uttar Pradesh, due to lightning and thunderstorms since yesterday, the home ministry said today. Among the dead, 42 were in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in West Bengal, 12 in Andhra Pradesh, two in Delhi and one in Uttarakhand, a ministry spokesperson said.

Altogether 83 people were injured in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Delhi and two in Uttarakhand. A total of 24 districts in Uttar Pradesh, six in West Bengal, three in Andhra Pradesh, two in Delhi and one in Uttarakhand were hit by the lightning and thunderstorms, the spokesperson said.
