The doctors also requested that a videographer be allowed inside the Bengal CM's premises to record the meeting. However, Mamata refused to allow any of the demands saying the case was sub-judice.&nbsp;

“As RG Kar issue is before the court, we cannot allow live streaming.&nbsp;I will do the minutes, sign it as well," said Mamata.&nbsp;

She also berated the protesting doctors by claiming they had "insulted" her by requesting the meeting but refusing to enter the house.&nbsp;“I have waited for 2 hours”, the CM added.

Kolkata police claimed Saturday (Sep 14) they had foiled an attack on agitating junior doctors by “professional criminals” and detained two individuals. The medics have been staging a sit-in outside Swasthya Bhavan, West Bengal's health department headquarters, in response to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. They are demanding justice for the victim, better security at state-run hospitals and removal of top health officials.

"We had intelligence from our sources that professional criminals were planning an attack on the protesting doctors outside Swasthya Bhawan. We also came across an audio clip of a conversation between two individuals, exposing this conspiracy," Bidhannagar DCP Aneesh Sarkar told reporters.

"We verified the authenticity of the audio clip, and based on it, we have registered a case. Two individuals have been arrested so far, and one of them, Sanjeev Das, has admitted that the voice in the recording is his," the officer added.

Earlier, the agitating doctors reached West Bengal&nbsp;Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence to hold a meeting to end the RG Kar impasse. However, the meeting couldn't take place by 9 pm IST as doctors demanded the meeting to be live-streamed for transparency.

Doctors agreed to meet with the CM after the latter,&nbsp;earlier on Saturday&nbsp;visited them outside the Swasthya Bhawan and assured them of justice.

"I have been a student leader myself, I have also struggled a lot in my life, I understand your struggle. I am not worried about my position. It rained all night yesterday, you were sitting here protesting; I was worried all night...After listening to your demands, I will study them. I do not run the government alone, I will definitely find a solution by studying your demands with senior officials. Whoever is found guilty will definitely be punished. I am asking for some time from you. The State government will not take any action against you (protesting doctors)," the CM told the doctors.

A Dhaka-based fact checker confirmed&nbsp;that the video of&nbsp;Rahmani which was probably shot in a hospital ward, was genuine, according to&nbsp;India Today Digital.&nbsp;

Rahmani, who has links to Pakistan-based terrorist groups, called for the secession of West Bengal while vowing support for separatist movements across India.&nbsp;

He further warned India against any aggressive actions towards Bangladesh.&nbsp;

"Bangladesh is not like Sikkim or Bhutan. It is a country of 18 crore Muslims," he said, adding that any provocation would result in strategic retaliation.

<h2>Will ask 'China to close chicken's neck': Rahmani warns</h2>

Chief of ABT warned that he would ask&nbsp;for China's help in cutting off India's northeastern states by cutting the Siliguri corridor, often referred to as the "chicken's neck", a 20-kilometre narrow stretch, connecting the northeastern region to the rest of India.&nbsp;

"If you take a step towards Bangladesh, we will ask China to close the chicken's neck (Siliguri corridor). We will tell the Seven Sisters (Northeastern states) to join the freedom movement," he added.&nbsp;

This comes at a time when West Bengal is facing major political turmoil following the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.&nbsp;

The mother of the trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical School and Hospital last month has called out West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for lying. The victim's mother said the family was offered money.

Notably, the father of the&nbsp;32-year-old doctor alleged last week that the Kolkata Police attempted to cover up the case and offered them money to keep quiet.

"The chief minister is lying. She said that you will get the compensation, and you can build something in memory of your daughter. I had said then that when my daughter gets justice, I will come to your office and take the compensation," the mother said.&nbsp;

"It seems inhuman to me because I am the mother of a girl. I have lost a child, so I feel inhuman. If people from all over the country want to return for the (Durga Puja) festival, they can," she added.

This is not the first time that Mamata has been called out by the victim's mother. Previously, the mother said she did not like the threat that Mamata had given to the doctors at one of her rallies.&nbsp;

"I didn't like what she [Mamata] said yesterday. The whole world stands by my daughter. They are protesting, agitating for justice. And she says we do not want justice," the mother said.&nbsp;

During one of the rallies, Mamata said the protesting doctors should return to duty or otherwise an FIR would be filed against them which could ruin their future.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court said if the doctors returned to work by 5 pm on Tuesday, no action would be taken against them. The top court on Monday took up the suo moto case of the rape and murder of the doctor at the institute. It perused the status reports filed by the West Bengal police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and posted the matter for further hearing on September 17. The court also directed the CBI to submit a fresh status report on the investigations in the case by September 17. 'No action against doctors who return to work' Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who was appearing on behalf of the state of West Bengal, undertook that no punitive action, including punitive transfers, will be ordered against the doctors who return to work. The&nbsp;Victoria Memorial Hall, along with the city’s homes and streets, remained in darkness without electricity.&nbsp;

Even the lights at West Bengal’s Raj Bhawan were switched off. Governor CV Ananda Bose participated in the demonstration by lighting a candle at Raj Bhavan. He said, “When light is fear, darkness is dear.”

Aside from being a part of the demonstration, Bose also asked West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to take immediate steps to restore law and order in the state.

“Governor directs the CM to take convincing steps to assuage the sentiments of the people of Bengal who are agitated over the RG Kar Hospital horror and maintain law and order in the state offering protection and security to the women. Enough is enough,” an official statement from the Raj Bhavan read.

The central government has hit back at Mamata Banerjee after the West Bengal chief minister wrote a second letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting stringent central legislation, in connection to the Kolkata horror rape-murder of a doctor.&nbsp;

While Mamata attempted to shift the blame, the&nbsp;central government did not have any of it and said her administration had not done enough to implement the same in “letter and spirit” in the state. It also added that Mamta's letter and its contents were 'factually incorrect'.&nbsp;

"In spite of the pendency of 48,600 rape and POCSO cases in West Bengal, the State has not operationalised additional 11 FTSCs which may be exclusive POCSO courts or combined FTSCs dealing with both rape and POCSO cases, as per the state's requirement," said Annapurna Devi, Union minister for women and child development, in the letter.&nbsp;

“As may be seen, the information contained in your letter in this regard is factually incorrect and appears to be a step in the direction to cover up the delays in operationalising the FTSCs by the state,” the letter added.

In response, BJP state chief and union minister,&nbsp;Sukanta Majumdar, wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing Mamata of making "anti-national" statements and urged the government to take action.&nbsp;

"It is unthinkable and unprecedented for a chief minister, who is constitutionally bound to rise above partisan attitudes, to make such intimidating statements that pose a threat to democracy," said Majumdar.

Mamata&nbsp;said she spoke against the BJP in her speech because they had been threatening democracy in West Bengal.

She told news agency ANI that the hospital officials first told her that her daughter had committed suicide.

"First we got a call from the hospital that your daughter is sick, then the call was disconnected. After that when I called and asked what happened, they told me to come to the hospital. When we called again, the (caller) identified himself as 'assistant super' and said your daughter has committed suicide. She went to duty on Thursday, we got this call on Friday at 10:53 am. When we reached there, we were not allowed to see her, we were allowed to see her at 3 o'clock. Her pants were open, there was only one piece of cloth on her body. Her hand was broken, and blood was coming out of her eyes, and mouth. Just by looking at her, it seemed that someone had murdered her," ANI quoted her as saying.

"I told them it is not suicide, it's a murder. We worked so hard to make our daughter a doctor but she was murdered," she claimed.

Amid massive protests and violent scuffle over the Kolkata hospital rape-murder, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a massive rally&nbsp;and appealed for&nbsp;the death penalty to be given to the accused in the case.

A violent scuffle broke out between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and Kolkata police during the protests outside CGO Complex on Friday (August 16). During the protests, the police detained several BJP workers.

Members of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) SUCI (C) also clashed with the Kolkata police in Hazra while demanding justice for the victim.

Across the country, doctors from various medical organisations took to the streets to demand justice for the female doctor who was brutally raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College.

Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) Medical College's resident doctors announced a complete shutdown and Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science in Patna, Bihar also said that no services will be provided till justice is delivered.

Five doctors and hospital staff were summoned by CBI's Kolkata office for questioning in the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, which has left the entire nation shocked.&nbsp;

In a shocking twist to the Kolkata rape and murder case, the parents of the victim told the Calcutta High Court Wednesday (Aug 14) that a significant amount of semen was found in her body, implying gang rape.

In their petition, the parents cited the autopsy report while claiming that 150 mg of semen was found in the victim’s body, "a quantity suggesting involvement of more than one individual,” further corroborating the suspicion of gang rape. The post-mortem report clearly said that the cause of the death was strangulation of the neck and “there are clear signs of sexual assault,” said the petition.

“Their daughter's body bore several injury marks, indicating a brutal and violent attack," the petition said.

It must be noted that the authorities in the West Bengal state, where the crime happened, earlier arrested one individual named Sanjoy Roy before the case was handed over to the federal agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“No step taken to arrest any other offenders while the evidence clearly indicates that their daughter was the victim of a gang rape and murder, a crime that could not have been committed by one person alone," the parents' petition said.

<h2>Court reprimands hospital administration</h2>

Earlier, the Calcutta High Court severely reprimanded the hospital authorities and RG Kar Medical College’s former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh for not diligently handling the sensitive case. The court asked why the administration didn’t file a police complaint after the body of the girl was found dead.

The parents in their petition said, "they have come to learn through reliable sources that evidence exists on record suggesting that at least three individuals were involved in the strangulation of their daughter". "The significant amount of semen found in her body further supports the involvement of multiple perpetrators," they told the court.

The CM on Wednesday condemned 'cheap politics' over the matter.&nbsp;

“Instead of standing with the (woman’s) family, CPI(M) and BJP are indulging in cheap politics. They think they can do a Bangladesh here. But let me tell you, I am not greedy for power,”&nbsp;Banerjee said. The statement came after&nbsp;BJP supporters held a protest march in the city.

The 31-year-old, a second-year post-graduate medical student, was last seen studying in the seminar hall on the third floor of the state-run hospital late Thursday (August 8) night. She was discovered unconscious the following morning.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal confirmed that a case of rape and murder has been registered, and one person has been arrested in connection with the crime.&nbsp;

"A board of three doctors conducted the post-mortem examination, which was fully documented through videography. Students and family members were present as witnesses during the proceedings," Goyal said.

Goyal further added that the post-mortem revealed signs of sexual assault, with injuries found on the victim's private parts, face, lips, neck, stomach, fingers, and ankle. "For us, he is the criminal of the highest order. We will ensure he receives the strictest punishment," he&nbsp;said, adding that the police have "strong" evidence against the suspect.

The arrested individual is reportedly an outsider with unrestricted access to various hospital departments.

In response to the incident, junior doctors across West Bengal staged protests on Saturday (August 10) and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the incident as "unfortunate and despicable," while addressing the anger among the victim's colleagues.&nbsp;

Speaking to a local TV channel, Banerjee assured that the case would be taken to a fast-track court and the accused would face the harshest possible punishment, including the death penalty if necessary. "I spoke to the victim's family and assured them of proper action," she said.

"I was allowed to speak only for five minutes. Chandrababu Naidu was given 20 minutes to speak. The chief ministers of Assam, Goa, Chhattisgarh spoke for 10–12 minutes. I registered my protest and came out," the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said.

She alleged that her mic was muted when she raised the issue of lack of funding from the central government.

"I was talking about central funds not being given to West Bengal, this is when they muted my mic," the West Bengal CM said.

Mamata's statement comes a day after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a briefing confirmed that Bangladesh had conveyed its objection to the statements made by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader.&nbsp;

“I can confirm that we have received such a communication from the Bangladesh side. It is on the lines described in the reports,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday.

On Wednesday (Jul 24) Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud stated that his ministry sent a diplomatic note to New Delhi.&nbsp;

"With due respect to the West Bengal Chief Minister, with whom we share a very close relationship, we want to make it clear that her comments have a lot of scope for confusion. Therefore, we have given a note to the Government of India," Mahmud said.
