"Security forces have shot tear gas and opened fire on people in Zindan square, Saqez city," the tweet read. The group also provided pictures of the protesters who gathered at the spot.&nbsp;

The 22-year-old Amini was detained by the country's morality police for flouting the hijab law and later in the day, she was declared dead by the hospital with the post-mortem report showing signs of trauma. Her custodial death led to protests all around Iran with many women burning hijabs and cutting their hair.&nbsp;

On Wednesday, videos showed that hundreds of people gathered at the Aichi cemetery in Saqez to pay tribute to Amini and raised slogans like "woman, life, freedom" and "death to the dictator".&nbsp;

Later, John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council, also levelled a similar allegation but did not provide any evidence to base his accusation.

"They may be considering some sort of support to crack down on Iran's protesters," he said.

"We see signs that they may be considering the ability to train. Sadly, Russia has experience," he added.

White House Press Secretary Karine also reiterated an earlier claim that Iran is helping Russia in waging war against Ukraine, with the supply of its drones.

“The evidence that Iran is helping Russia rage its war against Ukraine is clear and it is public. And Iran and Russia are growing closer the more isolated they become. Our message to Iran is very, very clear – stop killing your people and stop sending weapons to Russia to help kill Ukrainians.”

The allegation of the Kremlin’s involvement in Iran protest comes on the same day the Biden administration imposed a slew of additional sanctions against Iranian officials involved in the ongoing crackdown on nationwide protests in Iran, including the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence organisation and the IRGC’s deputy commander for operations, reports CNN.

US State Department’s spokesperson Vedant Patel said that the US would continue to support the protest that has swept across over 100 cities since the death of Amini, who was arrested by Iran's morality for violating the Islamic dress code.&nbsp;

"We will continue to look at the tools at our disposal and take action to support the people of Iran as they peacefully protest for their human rights in the face of brutal repression."

A towering blaze at a notorious prison housing political prisoners and anti-government activists in Iran’s capital injured at least nine people but was extinguished after several hours. However, according to&nbsp;state news agency IRNA&nbsp;four prisoners died due to smoke inhalation caused by the fire and 61 others were injured, with 51 of these treated on an outpatient basis.&nbsp;

Flames and smoke rising from Tehran’s Evin Prison had been widely visible Saturday evening, as nationwide anti-government protests triggered by the death of a young woman in police custody entered the fifth week. In online videos, gunshots and explosions could be heard in the area of the prison.

State media said the fire broke out after a fight between prisoners, in an apparent attempt to distance the events there from the ongoing protests. Hundreds are being held at Evin, where human rights groups have reported repeated abuse of prisoners.

State TV on Sunday aired a video of the fire’s aftermath, showing scorched walls and ceilings in a room it said was the upper floor of a sewing workshop at the prison.

“This fire was caused by a fight between some prisoners in a sewing workshop,” said Tehran Governor&nbsp;Mohsen Mansouri. “The workshop was set up to create jobs” for prisoners, he said.

IRNA&nbsp;reported Saturday that there were clashes between prisoners in one ward and prison personnel, citing a senior security official.

The official said prisoners set fire to a warehouse full of prison uniforms, which caused the blaze. He said the “rioters” were separated from the other prisoners to de-escalate the conflict. The official said the “situation is completely under control” and that firefighters were extinguishing the flames.

Later, Tehran prosecutor Ali Salehi said that calm had returned to the prison and that the unrest was not related to the protests which have swept the country for four weeks.

Masoumeh, 49, who only gave her first name, said his 19-year-old son was taken to prison two weeks ago after taking part in the street protests. “I cannot trust news about his health, I need to see him closely,” she said.

In the most recent footage, which was captured on camera on Wednesday in Argentina Square in Tehran, officers are seen encircling a woman who is walking along a busy street.

In the video, she is taken by the neck by one of them, who then drags her into a group of roughly 20 <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/shooting-in-north-carolina-claims-five-lives-says-mayor-525252">policemen</a>, several of whom are riding motorbikes. Another officer comes up behind the woman and places his left hand on her bottom as she is being dragged toward one of the bikes.

Later, as more officers encircle her, the woman stoops to the ground. Behind the camera, a female voice can be heard stating, "They're ripping her hair."

As a form of protest in scenarios similar to those that have occurred in recent days across the nation, drivers in cars close to the action begin honking.&nbsp;

The woman is then seen getting up and fleeing the area while it appears she is not wearing a hijab, or headscarf.

"Look at him [the security force officer], he is laughing," the same voice from earlier in the footage is heard saying at this point.

The incident is being looked into, according to the police public relations office in Tehran, said state news agency Irna.

The police statement does not give details of what happened, but says that "enemies using psychological warfare tried to cause public anxiety and incite violence".

The group of girls was seen in a video forcing a man, reportedly the principal, out of a school in Karaj, west of Tehran, on Monday. The video has been verified by the news agency AFP.&nbsp;

Another group of girls was heard chanting "Woman, Life, Freedom", as they marched through the Karaj neighborhood of Gohardasht.&nbsp;

In the videos, some of the schoolgirls were also seen leaving classrooms and appearing in flash-mob protests to avoid detection, in other footage shared online.&nbsp;

One group of girls were yelling "Get lost, Basiji", referring to the paramilitary force, at a man standing at a podium in the southern city of Shiraz, in a video shared by the 1500tasvir social media channel.&nbsp;

Abir Al-Sahlani, who is a Swedish member of the European Parliament, cut her hair during a speech in the European Union assembly to stand in solidarity with anti-government protests in Iran.&nbsp;

Violent demonstrations have been taking place in Iran over the custodial death of Mahsa Amini. The morality police in the nation had imprisoned the 22-year-old for allegedly wearing a headscarf in an "improper" way.&nbsp;

In the parliament in Strasbourg, France, the Iraqi-born Abir Al-Sahlani said on Tuesday evening: "Until Iran is free, our fury will be bigger than the oppressors. Until the women of Iran are free we are going to stand with you."&nbsp;

In the video, Abir is seen snipping off her ponytail with a pair of scissors. While cutting it, she said "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" (Kurdish for "Woman, Life, Freedom")&nbsp;

Notably, women have been taking to the streets by removing their headscarves in public and cutting their hair in protest against the strict rules on women's dress and general behaviour.

Moreover, reports have claimed that 19 more people died on Friday following a standoff between protesters and police at a police station in Zahedan, the provincial capital of the southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan province.

The agitation began after the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly violating the mandatory dress code.

Canada on Monday announced sanctions against Iranian officials over the Islamic republic's lethal crackdown on protests driven by the death of a young woman after her arrest by the morality police.

“We will implement sanctions on dozens of individuals and entities, including Iran's so-called morality police,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a news conference.

“We join our voices, the voices of all Canadians, to the millions of people around the world demanding that the Iranian government listen to their people, end their repression of freedoms and rights and let women and all Iranians live their lives and express themselves peacefully,” he added.

Calling them "foreign anti-revolutionary agents," Karimi said the protesters were shouting anti-regime slogans.

According to an official toll, at least 41 people have died in the clashes between the police and demonstrators.

The Tasnim news agency reported that security forces have released these images of "lead instigators" and are asking residents to "identify them and inform the authorities".

"Peaceful protest is the right of every nation. However, the U.S. involvement in Iran's affairs and support to 'rioters' in implementing their destabilisation project is in clear conflict with Washington's diplomatic messages to Iran regarding the necessity of a nuclear deal and establishing stability in the region," Amirabdollahian said.

Protests have rocked the Islamic Republic after custodial death of 22-year-old Mhasa Amini. She was detained by Iran's morality police which was seeking to inforce the hijab rule.

On Saturday, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran must "deal decisively with those who oppose the country's security and tranquility."

The president "stressed the necessity to distinguish between protest and disturbing public order and security, and called the events a riot," state media reported.

The protests are taking place when Iran is engaged in negotiations with world powers and indirectly with the US for revival of 2015 nuclear deal. Former US preisident Donald Trump unilaterally pulled USA out of the deal in 2018. Any exchange of words between Iran and the US, even over a seemingly distinct issue like women's protest may be viewed as an indicator of strain between the two countries over nuclear deal.

Many Iranians are fuming over the case of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died last week after being arrested by the morality police for wearing "unsuitable attire".

The morality police, attached to Iran's law enforcement, are tasked with ensuring the respect of Islamic morals as described by the country's clerical authorities.

Amini's death has reignited anger over issues including restrictions on personal freedoms in Iran, strict dress codes for women and an economy reeling from sanctions.

The anti-government protests are not expected to pose an immediate threat to Iran's clerical rulers, who have security forces which have put down one protest after another in recent years, analysts say.

'OUR RED LINE'

Iran's police chief Hossein Ashtari weighed in with tough words in an attempt to stop the protests.

"The people's security is our red line," he told&nbsp;state&nbsp;TV. "Those involved in sabotage and creating insecurity based on directives from outside the country should know that they will be strongly dealt with."

The army's message on Friday, seen as a warning to protesters, read: "These desperate actions are part of the evil strategy of the enemy to weaken the Islamic regime."

The military said it would "confront the enemies' various plots in order to ensure security and peace for the people who are being unjustly assaulted".

Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi on Friday also warned "seditionists" that their "dream of defeating religious values and the great achievements of the revolution will never be realized", according to the AsrIran website.

Friday's pro-government demonstrations showed the strength of the Islamic Republic, President Ebrahim Raisi said, adding that turmoil would not be tolerated.

"The people's presence (in the marches) today, is the power and the honour of the Islamic Republic," Raisi, facing the biggest protests since 2019, said on live television after returning from New York where he attended the United Nations General Assembly.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Raisi in New York on Thursday and raised human rights issues, a U.N. spokesperson said.

Human rights group Hengaw said a general strike was held on Friday in Oshnavieh, Javanroud, Sardasht and other towns in the northwest where many of Iran's up to 10 million Kurds live.

Twitter accounts linked to Anonymous "hacktivists" voiced support for the protests and said they had attacked 100 Iranian websites, including several belonging to the government.

Majid Tavakoli, a student leader turned human rights activist, was detained overnight, his brother Mohsen said.

"They raided the home and arrested Majid while he was asleep ... We are unable to do anything. Please spread the word," Mohsen Tavakoli tweeted.

According to local media and human rights groups, the number of casualties, including a police officer and a member of a pro-government militia, has risen in the past two days even as the agitation continues unabated for the fifth day on Wednesday.

But the number of deaths could be high as Kurdish rights group Hengaw claimed that 10 protesters had been killed, reports Reuters news agency.

They alleged that three died on Wednesday, out of the seven people killed so far by security forces.

However, Iranian officials have denied that protesters were killed by them, suggesting that they may have been targeted by&nbsp;“armed dissidents”.

The protests, initially concentrated in Iran’s Kurdish-populated north-western regions, eventually spread to at least 50 cities and towns, making it one of the largest demonstrations since the one that took place in 2019 over gasoline prices.

The widespread anger was trigged over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old from Iranian&nbsp;Kurdistan, last week who was arrested in Tehran for "unsuitable attire".

According to reports, Amini fell into a coma while in detention and eventually died. Her funeral was held on Saturday.

Her father said Amini had no health problems and claimed that she suffered bruises to her legs while in custody.

He blamed the morality police for death, but the officers concerned refuted the allegation.

This week, a top aide to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei paid condolences to Amini's family, saying that Khamenei was pained by her death.

He assured to follow up on the case and do the needful.

Meanwhile, the top officials curbed internet across the country, while many&nbsp;observed that their phone networks have also&nbsp;been shut down.
