"At the reception desk, you had to say a password: 'women's sports'," Masha told the publication. This password was reportedly a code that indicated that the girl was there to have her hymen inspected for Prigozhin.

Once that was confirmed, she was sent to the Solo Sokos Hotel on Vasilyevsky Island on the western side of St. Petersburg.&nbsp;

She said it seemed "like there were always rooms reserved for him and the girls, and there were always people who supervised them."&nbsp;

"There were girls, not virgins, whom he paid 5,000 roubles ($78) for sex. They were the ones who told me that it was Prigozhin. They hadn't seen him for several days."

The student of Information Science, who back then was 37-year-old and was temporarily working as a security guard, faced a legal battle where everything seemed to conspire against him.

He faced witnesses with criminal records whose credibility was never properly scrutinised. Even when Malkinson cooperated with the police, they remained dismissive of his innocence. His refusal to falsely confess to a crime he didn't commit meant he had to endure the unimaginable pain of 17 years behind bars.

<h2>Faith eroded</h2>

While incarcerated, Malkinson's faith in justice eroded as he encountered bureaucratic indifference.&nbsp;

Malkinson claims that attempts to present his case were met with "indifference,"&nbsp;and the possibility of rehabilitation was denied since he maintained his innocence.

He was finally released in December 2020 on a strict life licence. The charity 'Appeal' has been a champion of his innocence,&nbsp;exposing a series of missed opportunities in the investigation.

Yet, the process remains slow, and Malkinson seeks a full investigation into the failings of the Greater Manchester Police and an independent review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission.

"I want the CCRC Chair Helen Pitcher to apologise for failings and commission an external, independent review aimed at learning lessons from what went wrong in their handling of my case," said Malkinson.

"I am unspeakably angry with Greater Manchester Police. I want those who have done wrong to be brought to account," he added.

Speaking to the press outside the court after Wednesday's (July 26th) ruling, the wrongly incarnated man said that the conviction left "a gaping black hole in my life".&nbsp;

<h2>'Earth to Earth' flights</h2>

While impressive, X-59 is not "it". As per the report, even more, groundbreaking advancements are on the horizon.&nbsp;

According to recent research by Britain's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a flight from London to Sydney, which currently takes 22 hours, could be reduced to just two hours by 2033.&nbsp;

The answer lies in suborbital "Earth to Earth" flights that use rockets to propel passengers up to 125 miles into space at speeds exceeding 3,500 mph. Using rockets similar to Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin and Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic jet programs, the craft then rapidly descends to the final destination, thereby significantly cutting journey times.

Aviation moguls, and visionaries like Elon Musk, are already investing in suborbital travel.&nbsp;

Musk's SpaceX's in 2020 revealed plans for its Starship rocket to transport 100 passengers between continents in less than an hour.&nbsp;

Not only this, recently Chinese company Space Transportation also announced that it intends to conduct suborbital testing with its reusable "rocket with wings," aiming for a test flight by 2024 and a crewed flight by 2025.

They estimate that their suborbital spacecraft called Tianxing I can potentially complete a 4,300-mile (6,920 kilometres) trip in about an hour. &nbsp;

<h2>Potential market and the risks</h2>

The potential market for suborbital flights is immense. As per Switzerland's UBS, if just 5 per cent of the 150 million annual flights lasting over 10 hours transitioned to point-to-point suborbital space travel, the market could exceed $20 billion per year.&nbsp;

UBS estimates that the total value of the subsonic market could reach $805 billion by 2030.

However, despite the prospects, suborbital flights face numerous challenges. Safety remains paramount, particularly given the higher risks associated with rocket propulsion fuels like the liquified natural gas used by Blue Origin, or the liquid oxygen and liquid methane used by Starship — which are more prone to exploding than typical aviation fuel.&nbsp;

Environmental concerns also surround rocket-propelled aircraft, reports New York Post, as their emissions are under little or no regulations.

Another major concern revolves around the impact of G-forces on the human body during launch and reentry. As per Dr Ryan Anderton, the medical lead of the Civil Aviation Authority's space team, While suborbital journeys will be relatively short, "the main challenge faced will be the exposure to G-forces on launch and reentry."&nbsp;

Talking to the post, he said: We know this can affect the flow of blood around the body and to the head and it can sometimes generate abnormal heart rhythms."

Indian national capital's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has announced a plan to install 500 water ATMs across the city to provide drinking water treated using the Reverse Osmosis (RO) process to residents in slums and densely populated areas.

During an inspection of an RO plant in Delhi's Mayapuri, Kejriwal revealed that four water ATMs have already been installed, with 500 more planned for the first phase.

<h2>20 litres per person</h2>

Each person will reportedly receive a card that allows them to draw 20 litres of purified water per day from these ATMs. The ATMs will be strategically placed near slums and other areas where laying pipelines for water supply is challenging. Water sourced from tube wells will be treated at the RO plants before being distributed through the water ATMs.

Kejriwal emphasised that this initiative aims to ensure that even economically disadvantaged individuals have access to safe drinking water.&nbsp;

Talking to reporters, the chief minister, as per a Hindustan Times report, said: "This card is like a water ATM. Through this, each person will get 20 litres of purified water in areas with inadequate drinking water facilities."

"We know rich people install RO at their home, but now poor people will drink the same water," he remarked.

<h2>How the 'Water ATM' will work</h2>

The water ATMs, as per a PTI report, will function like a water bank, offering purified water to those living in areas with inadequate drinking water facilities.

Earlier this year, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) received directives from the chief minister to address the issue of contaminated water in various parts of the city. As part of the plan, RO-based purification plants will be set up in 20 slum clusters across Delhi to provide clean drinking water.

Lesley Cawthorne, Janice and David's daughter told Sky News she was relieved that her father has been cleared of murder charges.

"It's the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances, and I really hope the judges can extend their compassion and be lenient in their sentencing."

In June 2022, she told BBC that her mother had been "in absolute agony" in her final months.

As per David, his wife had been begging him to relieve her of the pain&nbsp;for weeks.

"For five or six weeks before she died, she was asking me to help her. She was asking me more every day," he said.

As per BBC, Hunter's lawyer Michael Polak, the verdict meant there was a "very good chance" his client would receive a suspended sentence and be able to return to the UK to live with his daughter.

"This wasn't a pre-planned act," said Polak, adding that his client "acted on the spur of the moment because she (Janice) was in so much pain."

According to the lawyer, judges also accepted Hunter had a "loving" and "dream" relationship with his wife of more than 50 years and "on that morning she asked him to end her life".

The state emergency operation centre reported that as of Wednesday night, the death toll stands at 88. As per an official of the emergency operation centre, a total of 1,020 roads remain blocked, and transportation services, including bus services, have been severely disrupted.

"A total of 1,020 roads were still blocked in the state, while 2,498 transformers and 1,244 water supply schemes have been disrupted," said the official on Thursday, as reported by news agency PTI.

As per the PTI report, rescue workers have successfully evacuated 256 tourists who were stranded at Chandertal in the Lahaul and Spiti district for five days due to heavy snowfall blocking the roads.

This comes as authorities work towards shifting a total of 60,000 tourists to safer areas in the state over the past four days.

However, around 10,000 tourists stuck in places like Kasol, Kheerganga, and adjoining areas are refusing to trek to safety as they do not want to leave their vehicles behind.

To facilitate the evacuation, expert drivers were arranged to drive the tourist vehicles in the snowbound area. Food and medical supplies have been provided to the stranded tourists at Losar before taking them to Kaza, and the rescue operation is being supervised by the Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner.

Chandertal Lake, located in the Spiti valley, is a popular tourist destination where visitors often stay in camps. The evacuation from Chandertal has been described as a challenging task by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas. The Chief Minister has appointed Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, who is familiar with the harsh topography of the region, to assist in the rescue efforts.

Furthermore, several countries, including Botswana, Eswatini, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, have already achieved the 95-95-95 targets, which means that 95 per cent of people living with HIV know their status, 95 per cent of those aware of their HIV-positive status are receiving treatment, and 95 per cent of those on treatment have achieved viral suppression.

Approximately 16 other countries are nearing the target, including sub-Saharan African nations and countries such as Denmark, Kuwait, and Thailand, reports AFP.

As of 2022, approximately 39 million people worldwide were living with HIV, with 29.8 million accessing antiretroviral therapy.

Overall, AIDS-related deaths have been reduced by 69 per cent since 2004 — the peak.

The report emphasised the opportunity to end AIDS lies in increasing "political will by investing in a sustainable response to HIV through financing what matters most: evidence-based HIV prevention and treatment, health systems integration, non-discriminatory laws, gender equality, and empowered community networks."

Byanyima called the end of AIDS "an opportunity" for leaders to be remembered as those who halted the "world's deadliest pandemic".

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued a recommendation for cat and dog owners to keep their pets indoors in response to a surge in avian influenza cases worldwide. This guidance comes after 24 cats tested positive for the virus in Poland.

Leaders of the British Medical Association (BMA) have called on the government to return to negotiations to resolve the ongoing dispute.

The Guardian reports that Dr Robert Laurenson and Dr Vivek Trivedi, leaders of the BMA, emphasised that the strike could be called off if the UK government followed the example of the Scottish government and dropped their "nonsensical precondition" of not engaging in talks during strikes.

He said above 5 per cent wasn’t realistic - Scotland proved him wrong. He refused to even acknowledge the concept of pay restoration - Scotland proved this is not only possible but essential."

Criticising the inflexible stance taken by the Prime Minister and the Health Secretary&nbsp;Steve Barclay, they stated that talks need to be resumed and argued that the UK government's refusal to engage in dialogue with junior doctors in England, despite strikes being planned, goes against the norms of industrial action.

Expressing their frustration with the government, they said, "The complete inflexibility we see from the UK government today is baffling, frustrating and ultimately destructive for everyone who wants waiting lists to go down and NHS staffing numbers to go up."

Further, they pointed out that the UK government has missed several opportunities to provide a credible offer and bring an end to the industrial action by junior doctors.

They emphasised that while there are differences between the positions of junior doctors and the governments of England and Scotland, "the UK government has far more financial freedom to give doctors what they deserve."

<h2>How the strike will affect patients</h2>

As per Saffron Cordery, Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Providers, the disruption caused by strikes is not only affecting patients but is also eroding the relationship between trust leaders and their staff.

Cordery emphasised the growing risk of delaying treatment for thousands of patients and the strain it places on already overstretched services, making it harder to reduce waiting lists.

A pay demand of 35 per cent or more is unreasonable and risks fuelling inflation, which makes everyone poorer."

The disease has already killed a significant number of felines on the "island of cats" and as per an AFP news agency report, is spreading across cat populations in nearby Lebanon, Israel and Turkey.

<h2>What is Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)?</h2>

As per the Cornell University website, Feline infectious peritonitis is a viral disease in cats caused by certain strains of the feline coronavirus.

While most feline strains of coronavirus known as feline enteric coronavirus (FeCV), are found in the gastrointestinal tract do not cause significant disease, in some cases it can become the dangerous disease known as FIPV.

As per the website, in about 10 per cent of FeCV-infected cats, the virus can mutate, infecting white blood cells and spreading throughout the cat's body. This triggers an intense inflammatory reaction, often in the abdomen, kidney, or brain, leading to the development of FIP.

Once a cat develops clinical FIP, the disease is usually progressive and almost always fatal.

<h2>Can this strain of coronavirus infect humans?</h2>

It is widely believed that the COVID-19 virus which brought the world to its knees some time ago could've originated in bats and crossed the species barrier into humans.

Last year, the World Health Organization also warned that as climate change contributes to the rapidly changing weather, animals, humans and even viruses and pathogens are changing their behaviour.

At the time, the international health agency's emergencies director Mike Ryan, who leads WHO's response to disease outbreaks, humanitarian crises and other public health emergencies warned that diseases that normally infect animals are now infecting people due to 'ecological fragility'.

So, could the feline coronavirus jump species and infect humans? Thankfully, no.

According to Cornell's Feline Health Center, "to our knowledge, coronaviruses cannot be passed from infected cats to humans." AFP too reports that the virus is not transmissible to humans. However, as per a Cyprus based animal lover it may soon turn Cyprus into "the island of dead cats".

<h2>Is there no cure for Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)?</h2>

AFP reports that to contain the spread of FIP, two treatment options are being considered.

One is molnupiravir, an anti-Covid pill that officials say cannot be authorised for use on animals in Cyprus. The other option is GS-441524, an antiviral tablet similar to the COVID-19 treatment remdesivir, which is approved for animal use in Britain but not readily available in Cyprus due to its high cost of 3,000 to 7,000 euros (about $3,300-$7,700) per cat.

Talking to AFP, Demetris Epaminondas, vice president of the Pancyprian Veterinary Association said that efforts are underway to obtain government authorisation for molnupiravir, which would cost a more affordable 200 euros per cat.

The Cyprus agriculture ministry said that is exploring various therapeutic preparations available on the European market to address the issue.

However, in the meantime, some desperate pet owners have reportedly resorted to purchasing medicines on the black market, risking legal consequences to save their beloved animals.

Speaking to AFP on the condition on anonymity, one Cypriot said: "We bought our medicines on the black market online, or from Facebook groups. But we keep our suppliers secret so that we can continue to treat our animals."

The official number of FIP cases reported by the agriculture ministry in the southern part of the island stands at 107. However, animal advocates claim that the actual number of cats dying from the disease is much higher, with an estimated 300,000 cats lost since January.

Experts estimate that the cat population in Cyprus is equal to or even exceeds the human population of just over one million. In the southern part of the island, Dinos Ayiomamitis, head of Cats PAWS Cyprus and vice-president of Cyprus Voice for Animals, estimates that a third of the cats have succumbed to the virus.

As the FIP outbreak continues to spread, there are concerns that Cyprus may become known as "the island of dead cats." Animal advocates and veterinarians are urging swift action to address the crisis and save the island's beloved feline population.

Riikka Purra, the leader of the Finns Party and Finland's Finance Minister, issued an apology on Tuesday for the racist comments she made online more than a decade ago. This apology comes after her remarks were condemned by her cabinet colleagues.

Purra, who assumed leadership of the far-right Finns Party in 2021, was accused of making inflammatory comments in 2008. These included various anti-immigrant, anti-Islam, and racial slurs, as well as threats of violence.
