Australia had stretched its lead to 134 runs by reaching 11-0 by stumps with Usman Khawaja not out on 7 and David Warner unbeaten on 4.

In-form opening batter Abdullah Shafique (81) and veteran Azhar Ali (78) had carried Pakistan to 170-1 and denied Australia a breakthrough in the first session after resuming on 90-1 before the visitors took control of the series-deciding test.

The Punjab government announced the closure of private offices and educational institutions in the provincial capital on Mondays, in addition to the weekly holidays observed on Saturdays and Sundays from November 27 till January 15, 2022, according to the Dawn newspaper.

Last week, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered the Punjab government to issue a notification directing private offices in Lahore to halve staff attendance in an effort to tackle smog.

The decision was taken as Lahore continuously topped the list of the world’s most polluted cities, along with India’s national capital territory, Delhi.

On Thursday, Lahore’s air quality index was at 328, much above the hazardous level of 300, according to IQAir. &nbsp;

Lahore was temporarily declared the most polluted city in the world by an air quality monitor, IQAir, earlier on Wednesday.

The Pakistani city of&nbsp;Lahore&nbsp;was declared the most polluted city in the world by an air quality monitor on Wednesday, as residents choking in acrid smog pleaded with officials to take action.

Lahore&nbsp;had an air quality ranking of 348, well over the hazardous level of 300, according to IQAir, the Swiss technology company that operates the AirVisual monitoring platform.

"Children are experiencing breathing diseases... for God's sake, find a solution," labourer Muhammad Saeed told AFP.

"We are poor people, can't even afford a doctor's charges," shopkeeper Ikram Ahmed told AFP.

"We can only plead with them to control the pollution. I am not a literate person, but I have read that&nbsp;Lahore&nbsp;has the worst air quality and then comes India's Delhi. If it continues like this, we will die."

"Before, I used to come (for a walk) with my children but now I don't bring them out with me," Saeed the labourer said.

Lahore has a history of these kinds of leaks. Since the beginning of 2019, Kayrros has analysed dozens of methane clouds spotted around the city. Kayrros uses data collected by the European Space Agency’s Sentinel-5P satellite.&nbsp;

A researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Space Research who also uses Sentinel 5-P’s data to hone in on global methane hot spots, Bram Maasakkers, has said that one potential source could be the Lakhodair landfill in the northeast part of the city.

Following Maasakkers’ work, geoanalytics firm GHGsat captured a large methane plume on July 1 from Lakhodair landfill.&nbsp;

The rate of release was about 4 tons per hour, which GHGSat captured using its own commercial satellites. The landfill operators did not reply to a request for comment.

The woman and&nbsp;her companions made several efforts to avert the crowd but to no avail.&nbsp;"People were pushing and pulling me to the extent that they tore my clothes. Several people tried to help me but the crowd was too huge and they kept throwing me in the air," she said.&nbsp;

Her companions were also assaulted while her ring and earrings were "forcibly taken" along with a mobile phone of one of her companions, his identity card and Rs 15,000 that he had&nbsp;with him, the woman said.&nbsp;

Pakistani politicians and celebrities have slammed the incident.

The first information report (FIR) has been registered at the Lorry Adda police station, a Dawn report said. In the FIR, the complainant shared that she and her six companions were attacked by around 300 to 400 people while filming a video near Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day. The woman and her companions made several efforts to avert the crowd but to no avail. "People were pushing and pulling me to the extent that they tore my clothes. Several people tried to help me but the crowd was too huge and they kept throwing me in the air," she said. Her companions were also assaulted while her ring and earrings were "forcibly taken" along with a mobile phone of one of her companions, his identity card and Rs 15,000 that he had with him, the woman said.
