"It's a great honour for myself, but much more for the wider Sikh community, in this country, in India and further afield wherever Sikhs are across the globe. It's a recognition of the King's view of inclusivity," said Lord Singh to the news agency PTI ahead of the historic ceremony.<br />

He will be joined by Lord Syed Kamall, 56, of Indo-Guyanese heritage. He will represent the Muslim faith and present the Armills or a pair of bracelets. Lord Narendra Babubhai Patel, 84, will represent the Hindu faith and hand over the Sovereign's Ring. Baroness Gillian Merron, 64, who is Jewish, will carry the Robe Royal to the King.<br />

"It is something like the story of the three kings [from the Bible], now it's been inflated by faith inflation to four people bearing gifts," said Singh.<br />

"As far as the procession goes, that is fairly usual and normal. It's always there on a Commonwealth Day service. The unusual element is the presentation of the gifts, that we go in turn to the King who is seated on a throne on a platform and offer him - in my case, it will be the Coronation Glove," he explains.<br />

Singh is the founder of the Network of Singh Organisations (NSO) and was honoured with a CBE by the late Queen Elizabeth II for services to interfaith harmony. He has known Charles personally for many years.&nbsp;<br />

"I have known King Charles for many years, we met on many occasions, seminars, and presentations, and I admire the work he is doing against global warming, care of the environment and so on. But I admire his attitude to religion even more," said the community leader and prominent interlocutor on the Sikh faith in the UK.<br />

<p>Yet another poll found that King Charles III's approval ratings have taken a dip. The poll by Ipsos released in April found that the British King's approval rating fell from 61 per cent in September 2022, to 49 per cent in April 2023.&nbsp;</p>

It weighs about two kilogrammes and is made of gold silk threads, wrapped in thin pieces of gold or silver gilt metal. Its best feature is stylised arabesque embroidery and floral motifs.</p>

<p>On top of Supertunica, Britain's monarch will wear a floor-length cloak called the Imperial Mantle. It fastens across the chest with a golden eagle clasp.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The priest-like mantle was made for George IV in 1821 and weighs about 3 to 4 kg.&nbsp;It is embellished with beautiful motifs like&nbsp;fleur-de-lis and imperial eagles along with national floral emblems of red-pink roses, blue thistles and green shamrocks.&nbsp;Queen Elizabeth II also wore it during her&nbsp;coronation in 1953.</p>

<p>During the crowning&nbsp;ceremony,&nbsp;the Archbishop of Canterbury will place the 2 kg St Edward's Crown on Charles'&nbsp;head. And,&nbsp;that will be&nbsp;the first and only time he will wear that crown, in line with royal traditions that reserve the crown exclusively for the occasion.</p>

<p>It was originally made for the coronation of Charles II in 1661 and later worn by Queen Elizabeth II during her coronation in 1953.</p>

<p>Monarchs in the modern era have consciously opted to reuse&nbsp;some garments, just as Charles has. However, going a step further, he has decided to reuse the coronation sword belt and glove, which are usually made new for every ceremony.</p>

According to London's&nbsp;Metropolitan Police, the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.&nbsp;A controlled explosion was carried out as a precaution after an assessment from specialists, said the media report.&nbsp;<br />

Police&nbsp;Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald said, "Officers worked immediately to detain the man and he has been taken into police custody.&nbsp;There have been no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public."</p>

<p>A UK-based well-known Sanskrit scholar, Dr M.N. Nandakumara has been conferred an honorary MBE by King Charles III for his services to Indian classical arts in Britain. Dr Nandakumara is the Executive Director of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Centre in London and hails from the Indian state of Karnataka.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He has been associated with the Bhavan for 46 years and has welcomed Charles, the then Prince of Wales, to the popular Indian cultural hub on numerous occasions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The honorary award is conferred by the British monarch to foreign nationals for their contribution to public life. It is approved by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) earlier this month and will be formally awarded at a ceremony at a later date. The honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) has been conferred “for services to the teaching, performance and accessibility of Indian classical arts in the UK”.</p>

<p>The chief said that British-Indian and British youth are growing interest&nbsp;in learning more about the Indian arts and culture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Our centre is not just for Indians or the Indian diaspora but anyone and everyone because we operate on Gandhian principles. In fact, our Yoga class has 95 per cent European students and all other classes also have a similarly mixed appeal,” said Dr Nandakumara, known to his pupils as Nandaji.</p>

<p>Dr Nandakumara’s association with the Bhavan dates back to the 1970s when he joined as a Sanskrit teacher while completing his PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. He has been its Executive Director since 1995.&nbsp;</p>

Now, as we unite in preparing for the splendour of the King's Coronation, these new portraits will serve as a visible reminder in buildings up and down the country of the nation's ultimate public servant," said Oliver Dowden, Cabinet Office minister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The scheme will kick in after the king's coronation is scheduled to take place later this year. After the official posters are released by Buckingham Palace, the eligible public authorities will be offered the opportunity to request the free framed portrait.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The move to spend&nbsp;'extravagant' sums of money on the posters attracted instant backlash with anti-monarchist groups opening up a front.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“At a time when a majority of local councils are raising taxes and cutting public services, when schools and hospitals are struggling, to spend even £1 on this nonsense would be £1 too much,” said Graham Smith, chief executive of the anti-monarchist group Republic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Surely if anyone really wants an official portrait he can stump up the cost. The government has lost the plot if they think people want their money spent on pictures of Charles.”</p>

<p>Ordinary Britons are currently facing one of the worst cost-of-living-crisis. The annual rate of inflation reached 11.1 per cent in October 2022, a 41-year high, before easing down. However, since January, it has been on another upswing with the rate standing at 10.4 per cent in February.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In recent months, the Tories have come under heavy scrutiny for their use of the taxpayers' money. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been one of the worst offenders with his spending becoming the subject of routine controversy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A government report published on Friday stated that Sunak spent as much as $617,249 (£500,000) in under a fortnight on private jet trips last year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The numbers were released by the cabinet office and detailed that Sunak spent £108,000 on a jet to travel to and from the COP27 summit in Egypt last year. A week later, the 10, Downing Street resident jetted off to the southeast Asian country of Indonesia to attend the G20 summit in Bali. The total cost of the round trip came about to £340,000.</p>

The king was scheduled to arrive in France on Sunday, which incidentally would have been his first visit as the newly crowned monarch.</p>

<p>However, the Élysée Palace released a statement on Friday and said the decision to postpone the visit was taken after King Charles had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Given yesterday's announcement of a new national day of action against pension reform on Tuesday, March 28, in France, the visit of King Charles III, initially scheduled for March 26 to 29 in our country, will be postponed," read the statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This decision was taken by the French and British governments, after a telephone exchange between the President of the Republic and the King this morning, in order to be able to welcome His Majesty King Charles III under conditions which correspond to our relationship of friendship," it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The diamond has since then remained within the British royal family. Still, the governing party of India's prime minister has warned that it brings back painful memories of the British Empire.<br />

<p>On Saturday, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles III's coronation, which is scheduled for 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London, will feature a star-studded concert, nationwide coronation big lunch&nbsp;and volunteering initiative along with the traditional ceremony and royal processions that usually takes place.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The three days of ceremonial, celebratory and community events will be a chance for "people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion", Buckingham Palace said in a statement to give an update on its much-anticipated plans.</p>

<p>The coronation will be "a solemn religious service, as well as an occasion for celebration and pageantry and it will reflect the Monarch's role today and look towards the future," the palace added.</p>

<p>Charles immediately took the throne as King after Queen Elizabeth died, aged 96, on September 8 last year, ending her record-breaking reign that lasted for 70 years.&nbsp;As the King, he also took over as head of state of 14 Commonwealth countries, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand.</p>

<p>Britain's first coronation since 1953 will be watched worldwide and&nbsp;various global dignitaries will be in attendance. It will begin with Charles' formal crowning at London's Westminster Abbey on May 6, in a tradition dating back more than 900 years.</p>

<p>The service will be conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and&nbsp;will reflect the monarchy's historic traditions alongside its modern role.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Charles' wife, Queen Consort Camilla, will also be crowned at the ceremony.</p>

<p>The pair will arrive from the palace without other royals in "The King's Procession", before returning in a larger ceremonial entourage known as "The Coronation Procession" featuring other family members.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Once back at the palace, the opening day will conclude with the royals appearing on the balcony overlooking The Mall where thousands of people are expected to gather.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Sunday, May 7,&nbsp; a "special coronation concert" will be staged at Windsor Castle. It will&nbsp;broadcast live on the BBC and will feature "global music icons and contemporary stars".</p>

<p>Tickets for the concert will be made available through a public ballot, while volunteers from charities supported by Charles and Camilla will also be able to attend.</p>

<p>The concert will feature a "world-class orchestra" playing interpretations of musical favourites "fronted by some of the world's biggest entertainers, alongside performers from the world of dance".&nbsp;</p>

<p>A "coronation choir", drawn from diverse community choirs and amateur singers nationwide, such as Refugee choirs, NHS choirs, LGBTQ+ singing groups and deaf signing choirs, will also make an exclusive appearance.</p>

<p>A "virtual choir" made up of singers from across the Commonwealth will also perform, while the castle's East Lawn will host a selection of spoken word sequences delivered by stars of stage and screen.</p>

<p>But the centrepiece of the evening event will be a "lighting up the nation" segment which will see iconic locations across the UK lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.</p>
