The UK prime minister did admit that not enough asylum claims are being processed, but he promised to fix the system, stating channel crossings were a 'serious and escalating problem.'

Sunak noted that his government is taking "significant action" in order to improve conditions at a site for handling asylum seekers in Manston in Kent. It is the same place which was described last week as "pretty wretched" by David Neal, who is the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration.&nbsp;

While speaking at prime minister's questions in the House of Commons, Sunak responded to questions from Sir Keir Starmer as the Labour leader accused the government they have lost control, and also asked to replace Suella Braverman with a "proper home secretary".&nbsp;

Mentioning all the steps taken by the government, Sunak highlighted that since September 30 there are more hotels with four and a half thousand new beds, he said a senior general to control the situation at Manston has been appointed, and also increased the number of staff there.&nbsp;

Reports suggest that over 4,000 people stay at the centre, but in fact, the unit can only hold just 1,600 when it was built but the numbers have increased to more than double that.&nbsp;

Sunak said that an "unprecedented" amount of people are arriving in the UK illegally. Slamming the Opposition, Sunak said that Labour opposes every measure the government has put through. He said that it is "not serious about this problem".&nbsp;

In the aftermath of the criticism, Kwarteng was removed as the finance minister and his successor – Jeremy Hunt – announced a complete U-turn. Truss also recognised the impact that the tax cuts had on the British economy and admitted that the measures were a “mistake” by the government.

According to a recent poll conducted by YouGov, Truss’ approval ratings were just 10 per cent while 55 per cent of the people involved in the study wanted her to resign from her position.

Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for the Labour leader said Keir Starmer takes his declaration responsibilities "very seriously".&nbsp;

The spokesperson also said: "...has [Starmer] already apologised for the fact that administrative errors in his office have led to a small number of late declarations."&nbsp;

He also informed that the standards commissioner has asked for more information and Starmer and his team are happy to provide it.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Starmer also reacted to the news updates, he said he was "absolutely confident" he had done nothing wrong. "There's no problem here," he told reporters.&nbsp;

He said that all MPs are made aware if there is any concerns. He noted: "My office is dealing with it and we will be replying in due course."&nbsp;

Asking his top team to redouble their efforts to ease the financial pressure on struggling families, Johnson said "cost of living" is currently too high.

The British newspaper quoted Johnson as saying "Every pound the Government pre-empts from the taxpayer is money they can spend on their own priorities, on their own lives."

After the Daily Mail published the report, the Scottish leader of the FDA trade union, Dave Penman tweeted "Unless they’ve got a serious plan, it's either another headline-grabbing stunt or a reckless slash-and-burn to public services without a thought or care about the consequences."

The order comes as Johnson's Conservative Party suffered heavy losses in the local election in which it lost over 50 seats.

Labour Party's leader Keir Starmer had accused Johnson's government of a cover up after it refused to release security advice issued about the controversial 2020 appointment of a Russian-born newspaper baron to parliament.

However, Johnson defended his decision of granting a peerage to Evgeny Lebedev and cited "the need to protect national security" for withholding the advice it received.&nbsp;

The embattled leader has been facing mounting pressure to resign from the opposition party after it was revealed that Johnson held booze parties during a tier III lockdown in London.&nbsp;
