<p>"The appointment of all the three members of the CAC was specific only for the selection of the head coach this year. Now CAC has been ceased to exist post the selection of the head coach. The new elected BCCI body will have the freedom to appoint a CAC when the need arises," said Rai.</p>

<p>After stepping down, Kapil Dev said, "it was my pleasure to work and select head coach but now I have sent my resignation to CoA Chief and BCCI CEO."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former Indian cricket team captain and first Indian captain to lift an ICC Cricket World Cup for the country – Kapil Dev - unveiled the largest cricket bat (made using willow in accordance with the ICC standards) on Friday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The bat measured over 51 feet and weighed 6.6 tons. Dev presided over the event where a Guinness World Record was created at the Phoenix Marketcity and Palladium in Chennai.</p>

<p>After their hard work for almost 8 months, Ranveer Singh and his 'team blue'&nbsp;have begun their journey by flying to London for the first shooting schedule of their upcoming film '83'.</p>

<p>The team members were clicked at the Mumbai airport on Monday night where all seemed to be filled with excitement ahead of their first shoot.</p>

<p>"India has the combination of youth and experience. They have the right balance in four fast bowlers, three spinners and two big names in Virat Kohli and (MS) Dhoni," he said.</p>

<p>India's pace battery is led by Jasprit Bumrah, the world's top bowler in the one-day format, and includes Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya.</p>

<p>Bumrah has been hailed for his ability to bowl yorkers at the death, while Shami and Kumar have also impressed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They are fantastic, very good. English conditions will help them. They can swing the ball," said Dev, known as "Haryana Hurricane" during his playing days for his pace.</p>

<p>"They have Bumrah and Shami who can bowl 145 (kmph) plus. So we have swing, we have pace. That's a very good combination to have", Dev added.</p>

<p>Dev, who led India to their maiden World Cup in 1983 when his side beat two-time champions West Indies to take the trophy at Lord's, said it was the "belief" which separated winners from the rest.</p>

<p>Dev slammed comparisons between him and star all-rounder Pandya who has impressed with his power hitting in the team's middle order and skills as a medium-pace bowler.</p>

<p>The 25-year-old Pandya, who is set to play his first 50-over World Cup, has earned his place in the Indian XI with 731 runs and 44 wickets in 45 ODIs since making his debut in 2016.</p>

<p>"He is an upcoming player... Please do not pressure him. He is a young talent, let him play his cricket with his own free mind," said Dev.</p>

<p>When quizzed about the on-field chemistry between former captain Dhoni and Kohli, Dev said both the players were crucial to India's World Cup hopes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kapil Dev’s daughter, Amiya has turned assistant director for the film as it delves into the historic win for India at 1983 Cricket World Cup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A source close to the production told IANS, “Amiya is just out of college. As of now, it looks like she just wants to explore different things like most bright people do. She is very helpful to us, she knows the subject, she knows all the cricketers and she has access to all of them. She is also very willing to learn.”</p>

The actor will shoot for a recreated scene that will show Team India’s historic World Cup-winning moment as the legendary captain Kapil Dev lifts the first ever cricket world cup trophy for India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Titled ‘83, the film will bring that iconic moment to the celluloid. As reported by a source close to the film, "All preparations are underway to shoot at the iconic Lords cricket ground. The World Cup win is an iconic and most cherished memory in the hearts and the minds of all Indians and the moment will be recreated in 83. <p>The film is being helmed by Kabir Khan. It will follow the story of Kapil Dev, who was newly appointed as captain and went on to defeat West Indies in the final match of World Cup 1983.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Friday launched year-long celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, and called upon people to set aside their religious and political differences to join his government in making it memorable.</p>

<p>Addressing a large gathering in Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district, where Nanak Dev spent over 14 years of his early life, Singh exhorted the people to reconnect with his teachings, principles and ideals.</p>

<p>Greeting people on the occasion of 'Gurpurab', he invited people from across the world to participate in the celebrations.</p>

<p>As part of the celebrations, Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore inaugurated an exhibition, 'From Rabab to Nagara', curated by historian Mohinder Singh, the director of Delhi-based National Institute of Punjab Studies.</p>

<p>Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and many senior Congress leaders, including Asha Kumari and Sunil Jakhar, were present on the occasion.</p>

<p>Manmohan Singh, Badnore and the chief minister laid the foundation stones of 26 development projects worth Rs 150 crore on the occasion.</p>

<p>The projects included upgrade of infrastructure in the historic towns of Sultanpur Lodhi, Dera Baba Nanak and Batala.</p>

<p>The chief minister also announced projects and welfare schemes to the tune of Rs 3,312 crore to help pilgrims and to commemorate the historic occasion.</p>

<p>Guru Nanak Dev was born in 1469. His 549th birth anniversary falls on Friday.</p>

<p>Noting that considerations of caste, creed and inequality are again rampant in the society, he said, "We need to rise above these on the path shown by Guru Sahib. If Punjab has to regain its number one position in the country, we need to maintain 'bhai-chara' (brotherhood) and 'saanjh' (amity) and not get divided on different lines."</p>

<p>"The Punjab government will observe the event as a non-political and bi-partisan affair," the chief minister said.</p>

<p>He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government for acceding to various requests of the state government with regard to the celebrations.</p>

<p>He hailed the Centre's decision to develop the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from Punjab's Gurdaspur district to the International Border to facilitate Indian pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur in Pakistan.</p>

<p>He said a long-pending demand of Punjab was on the verge of fulfilment and on November 26, he would join the President to lay the foundation stone of the corridor.</p>

<p>He also thanked the Government of Pakistan for reciprocating on the issue and said his government would also contribute, as may be required, to ensure timely completion of the project.</p>

<p>Addressing the gathering, former prime minister Manmohan Singh expressed gratitude to Amarinder Singh and his government for giving him the opportunity to be part of this special moment.</p>

<p>He expressed hope that all would rise above petty considerations of communalism and hatred to celebrate the event in a befitting manner.<br />
The former prime minister exhorted the people to participate in the year-long celebrations with full enthusiasm and gaiety, regardless of caste, colour, creed and religion.</p>

<p>Governor Badnore said it was a matter of pride for him to be part of the auspicious occasion. He called for universal brotherhood as the key message of the commemorative events.</p>

<p>Badnore said the Railway Ministry would run special trains on the religious circuit relating to the life of Guru Nanak Dev for the convenience of the pilgrims.</p>

<p>In an exclusive conversation with Prime Minister of Grenada in New York, Dr Keith Mitchell has expressed his admiration for Indian cricketer and cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and&nbsp;Sunil Gavaskar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking to WION, Mitchell who is the longest-serving Prime Minister of Grenada, said," Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Viv Richards... I admire them. &nbsp;I like good cricket. I no longer play the game, I watch a lot of cricket. I like to see good cricket. I don't like to see one team dominating. I like to see serious competition. Excelling bowling and batting."</p>

<p>A cricketer-turned-politician, he captained the Grenada team in 1973 and has played cricket with many Indian cricketers including Kapil Dev. Dr&nbsp;Mitchell, who has completed his PhD in mathematics and statistics, visited India in July 2006 in connection with preparations for the Cricket World Cup in 2007 which was held in West Indies. &nbsp;</p>

<p>He lauded India and said,"we see India as a third world developing country. We see our self as a developing country in many respects. Based on the colonial past there is a certain level of identity. We tend to cooperate a lot and see things in a similar context. When we look at issues for example changes in the structure of United nations we supported India's position."</p>

<p>When Grenada was affected by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, India provided relief assistance in terms of emergency medical supplies and roofing material. Grenada is concurrently accredited to Indian Mission in Port-of-Spain and it does not have a diplomatic mission in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also talked about civilisational linkages between the Caribbean and India and said "Caribbean civilisation is made of indentured Indians. Trinidad has 50 per cent population has Indians."</p>

<p>The relationship between India and Grenada goes back to 1st May, 1857 when the first ship ‘Maidstone’ carrying 287 Indian indentured workers reached the shores of Grenada, then a British colony. More than 3,000 Indo-Grenadians reside in Grenada which is five per cent population of the country.</p>

<p>Talking about his country's worldview he said,"We tend to see Grenada's policy and action fitted in the context of the Caribbean family. As far as the international community is concerned, we take positions congruent with other Caribbean countries are concerned. We consult with each other in every sense of the word. We accept the fact unless we unite we can be eaten by bigger forces internationally. Unity is a necessary part of our global outlook and as far as the region is concerned."</p>

<p>Grenada in the Caribbean also known as "spice islands" has a land area of 133 sq. miles and a total population of about 100,000 people.</p>

<p>Talking about cryptocurrency, the Prime Minister said, "We have to be careful. Technology is there and Opportunities. Some countries talking about it. We need to analyse properly and have safeguard if the problem may come. Never jump too quickly without understanding. The impact can be positively or negatively. Control mechanism and system put in place should be there."</p>

<p>Soon, Gambhir mocked at Afridi by calling him a perennially immature person in a comical twitter war. He said that Afridi's tweet on Kashmir and his reference to United Nations was according to "his age bracket".</p>

<p>He smashed that epic 175 off 138 balls against Zimbabwe in the &rsquo;83 World Cup. This will undoubtedly rank as one of the all-time great ODI knocks, given the situation and the occasion it came in. In the all-important league encounter versus Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup, the Indian team was reeling at 17-5 before Kapil came in, and in an absolutely dazzling display of batsmanship, smashed 175 off 138 balls with 16 fours and 6 sixes that helped India achieve an emphatic win and progress to the semis of the tournament.</p>

<p>His 9-83 against West Indies on a slow Ahmedabad track was a tremendous effort. It&rsquo;s strange that this effort isn&rsquo;t recalled as much as it should be. On a slow Ahmedabad surface in the 1983 Ahmedabad Test against the mighty West Indian - containing the likes of Gordon Greenidge, Vivian Richards, Clive Lloyd and others - Kapil produced his best ever Test bowling figures of 9-83. While India lost the match, Kapil&rsquo;s performance was one to cherish.</p>

<p>He was the fittest Indian cricketer of his times.&nbsp; Long before fitness became a fad in cricket, Kapil Dev had set an example with his raw fitness. A reflection of his great fitness is that in the 131 Tests he played, he never missed a game due to injury.</p>
