Jurgen Klopp admitted Liverpool are suffering a "rusty moment" after a 1-0 defeat at Southampton extended the defending champions' winless run in the Premier League to three games.

Danny Ings's stunning second-minute goal earned three points which moved Southampton into sixth and led to Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl breaking into tears of joy on the final whistle.

Liverpool remain top of the table on goal difference over Manchester United, but have now played a game more than the Red Devils, who they face in their next league game at Anfield on January 17.

"That's a rusty moment we have to admit it," said Klopp, whose side last failed to win in three straight Premier League games back in May 2018.

"Only if you know the problem can you solve the problem, we are not blind. We have to fight and play through this."

A first league defeat in three months may hasten Liverpool's search for a centre-back in the January transfer window.

Without the injured Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, Klopp started two of his first-choice midfielders from their title-winning campaign, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, together at the heart of his defence.

Southampton had not scored in their last three games to temper their hopes of a push for European football, but took just two minutes to break the deadlock in style through former Liverpool striker Ings.

Trent Alexander-Arnold did not deal with James Ward-Prowse's angled free-kick into the box and Ings perfectly hooked his shot over Alisson Becker into the far corner.

"It's not only the slow start, but the slow start made life massively difficult tonight," added Klopp.

Southampton had key absentees themselves with goalkeeper Alex McCarthy missing due to a positive test for coronavirus, while Oriol Romeu, Jannik Vestergaard and Che Adams were out injured.

Fraser Forster was making his first Saints appearance since May 2019, but the former England international was rarely tested to earn his clean sheet.

<h2>'Perfect gameplan'</h2>

The visitors could easily have found themselves 2-0 down before the break when Southampton substitute Nathan Tella was inches away from his first senior goal.

If Klopp's men were too passive in the first-half, they started the second-half with the intensity they have made their trademark in recent seasons as Southampton were pinned inside their own half.

Sadio Mane was the visitors' biggest threat on his return to St Mary's as Jack Stephens made a last-ditch challenge to block his route to goal before Kyle Walker-Peters was lucky to escape without conceding a penalty for obstructing another burst from the Senegalese into the box.

Thiago Alcantara was making just his second Liverpool start since a much-anticipated move from Bayern Munich, but even the Spaniard's range of passing could not cut through Southampton's determined defence.

"I started believing we can do it in the 92nd minute, not earlier," said Hasenhuttl. "They are so strong in front you always believe something can happen.

"We had to have a perfect gameplan today and luck. Without luck against such a team you cannot win."

Mane had Liverpool's only shot on target 15 minutes from time when his tame effort was easily held by Forster low to his left.

Southampton could have sealed a huge win moments later when Alisson was caught well off his line by Yan Valery, whose shot lacked the power to beat Henderson in a race to the goal line.

Liverpool so often dug themselves out of problems with late goals in romping to the title last season, but have failed to do so over the festive period, also dropping points against struggling West Brom and Newcastle.

United and Manchester City now hold the upper hand in the title race as they can both move ahead of Liverpool should they win their games in hand.

'Rusty' Liverpool stumble again in Southampton defeat

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp moved to dismiss speculation over Egypt forward Mohamed Salah's future saying on Thursday he is happy at the Premier League champions.

The 28-year-old gave an interview in Spain last week in which he said Barcelona and Real Madrid were top clubs and "who knows what will happen in the future".

This led to speculation over whether he was seeking a new longer-term contract beyond 2023 or he was upset Trent Alexander-Arnold had been given the captain's armband for the Champions League group match with Midtjylland.

"We do not speak about deals -- well, not with you (the media). Why should we start now?" said Klopp at his press conference ahead of Sunday's game with struggling West Brom.

"Mo is in a good mood, always a good moment. He is in really good shape and that is the most important thing for me.

"We did not have pictures (from the training ground) this morning but if we did you would have seen him laughing, he enjoyed the session.

"All the rest is nice for all of you to write about but internally, no, nothing really."

If Salah is unsettled it has not been reflected by his performances on the pitch this season.

He has scored 13 goals in as many league games, missing just one because of Covid-19 isolation.

It is his best start to a Premier League term, even better than his debut campaign when he went on to score 32 in 38 appearances having registered 12 goals at the same 14-match stage.

He came off the bench last Saturday to score a brace in the 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace.

"I think there are all these things to talk about: he didn't start the last game, all the things I heard after about what could be the reason and then he came on and scored two," said Klopp.

"I think in his first season he didn't start against Stoke, came on and scored two. He obviously doesn't need a long time."

Klopp said he hoped his players would build on their lead over their rivals -- they presently have a four point advantage over Leicester.

The Reds have a hectic schedule over the festive period with a home game with Newcastle next Wednesday and Southampton the following Monday. &nbsp;&nbsp;

"All the boys were in a good moment, that is why we have the points we have so far," he said.

"Now it is much more important we really keep going. Everyone knows the toughest point of the season is now ahead of us.

"The Christmas period is always tough so we have to make sure we get through this with the right results."

Salah is happy at Liverpool, says Klopp

Liverpool are set to kick on over the festive period according to captain Jordan Henderson after their best performance of the season in a 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Henderson was among the scorers as the Reds netted seven goals from eight shots on target to secure an away top-flight win by that margin for the first time in their history.

Liverpool moved top of the Premier League on Wednesday when a late Roberto Firmino header stole a 2-1 win over pacesetters Tottenham Hotspur before they donned their shooting boots.

"We don`t just look at the scoreline, I thought we were very good midweek and again today so we just need to keep the momentum going and work hard," Henderson told BT Sport.

"It was coming I felt as over the last few games we`ve had chances and not taken them, which has cost us at times."

Liverpool boss Juergen Klopp was delighted with his side`s dazzling performance in front of goal at Selhurst Park.

"Our finishing in the first half was clinical. Then 3-0 up at halftime the game is not finished but we controlled the game and scored wonderful goals," he said.

Liverpool will now have a short Christmas break before facing West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and high-flying Southampton in a nine-day period starting on Dec. 27.

"Christmas will be good, but the season is not finished, there are a few games to come but we will be ready," Klopp added.

Red-hot Liverpool aim to keep momentum going after Palace rout

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that his side will never give an excuse of injuries when they do not play to their full potential.

The Reds have been battling an injury crisis but still, they have been able to show impressive performances. The side is currently second in the Premier League and has reached the last 16 in the Champions League.

"Whoever is available, we are still Liverpool. That`s how we see it. It means we want to win the game. Actually, I think most of the people think we have to win the game. You can see that when you speak before a game, or after a game, people don`t talk about who is available -- he is not available, he is not available, yes, yes, no -- nobody really would allow you to use such a situation as an excuse. And we don`t, we don`t," Goal.com quoted Klopp as saying.

"The situation is tough, 100 per cent, but we are at matchday -- where are we, nine, 10 coming? Not sure. So, it feels quite long already but it`s not even a third of the season. So, who cares who is where at the moment. We try to play football. We won some games, drew in others, lost one massively. So, that`s the job," he added.

During the start of the season, Liverpool had to endure injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Naby Keita. However, Arnold and Keita made their way to training on Friday.

Liverpool is on the second-longest unbeaten home run in Premier League (64 games).

The Reds will next take on Wolves on Sunday in the Premier League 2020-21 season.

'We're still Liverpool': Klopp plays down injury concerns

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp vented his frustration regarding Brexit's impact on English football, with the German concerned tough new transfer rules being implemented on January 1 are a negative consequence of Britain leaving the European Union (EU).

As a part of post-Brexit regulations, Premier League clubs will not be allowed to sign players from European Union (EU) countries without a work permit while foreign players under the age of 18 cannot be signed.&nbsp;

"I am still waiting for the first advantage of Brexit that someone can tell me," Klopp said in comments published in the Guardian on Friday. "What really improves after Brexit?

"It's obviously not my thing to judge, but as an interested person I just wait until the first really positive impact of Brexit."

The German coach went on to say that the football officials had done all they could to lessen the impact of Brexit on their industry and suggested that there could have been even tougher restrictions had they not put up a fight.

"Michael Edwards (Liverpool's sporting director) was involved in a lot of these discussions and the clubs fought pretty hard for a solution -- kind of a good solution or as good as possible," Klopp added.

"Without the discussions it would have been worse."

'Waiting for first advantage': Jurgen Klopp talks about negative consequence of Brexit

Liverpool's ever expanding injury list has prompted Jurgen Klopp to take on the football authorities and broadcasters over a gruelling schedule that he feels is doing little to protect the players.

The English champions head into Tuesday's Champions League clash with Ajax without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri, Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner.

Klopp was infuriated that Liverpool were chosen for Saturday's lunchtime kick-off in a 1-1 draw at Brighton just over 60 hours after they faced Atalanta in Europe on Wednesday night.

"After Wednesday, Saturday at 12:30 is really dangerous for the players," said Klopp, who also sarcastically congratulated a BT Sport interviewer for Milner's hamstring injury in the second half.

However, he is not alone and has formed an unlikely alliance with Manchester United and Manchester City, who have also faced early Saturday kick-offs after Wednesday night games in the Champions League this season.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his side had been "set up to fail" when they won at Everton after returning from a trip to Turkey barely 48 hours before they travelled to Goodison Park.

City boss Pep Guardiola has also been a strong advocate of allowing managers the chance to make five substitutions.

"All around the world there is five substitutions. Here we believe we are a special league with just three players, we don't protect the players," said Guardiola after his side's 1-1 draw with Liverpool earlier this month that characterised the problems of a condensed calendar.

Both sides chased the game in an enthralling first 45 minutes before settling for a point as fatigue set in after the break.

"We've reached a point where you start to think that with so many matches and so many injuries, the spectacle is not the same," said Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane last week.

<h2>- Joyless football -</h2>

Despite losing a month of the season due to a late start to the campaign caused by the three-month coronavirus shutdown last season, barely any sacrifices have been made in English football to ease the strain on players.

Both domestic cup competitions have been retained alongside a full 38-game Premier League season, European football commitments and two international breaks with an extra game for European nations.

Guardiola has repeatedly argued that the gruelling winter schedule in England when other major leagues take a mid-season break comes at the expense of better quality matches for fans to enjoy.

And he believes that is only exacerbated in a season so far without fans inside the ground.

"The problem is today the players lose the joy of playing football. Before it was nice playing football once or twice a week with spectators, now it is in three days another one."

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder drew Klopp's ire after standing his ground in a manager's meeting last week over the issue of five substitutes.

Two previous votes have failed to garner the 14 votes needed from the 20 Premier League clubs to change the rules over fears from those with less resources that such a change only benefits the bigger clubs with deeper squads.

"I've got incredible respect for these top managers because they produce top results and win things," said Wilder, whose side sit bottom of the table with just one point from 10 games.

"But they're selfish, they look after their own clubs. They're going to be bothered about Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, which I understand and respect. I would be the same, but I'm bothered about Sheffield United and it doesn't help us to have five subs."

Yet, the evidence across Europe shows the continent's biggest clubs are struggling to match their usual levels of dominance even with five subs.

Real Madrid and Barcelona find themselves well off the pace in La Liga having already lost three times each. Paris Saint-Germain have also lost three of their opening 12 matches in Ligue 1, while Juventus sit fourth in Serie A, behind Sassuolo, as they go for a 10th consecutive title.

Klopp may not be getting much sympathy from those fighting just to remain in the Premier League.

But the cost of cramming so much football into a shortened calendar threatens not only player welfare, but the enjoyment for fans watching a watered down product.

'Selfish' or 'protecting the players'? Klopp's complaints divide managers

'We have to adapt': Jose Mourinho to Jurgen Klopp over hectic schedule

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the Premier League's top six could be left without 11 fit players unless changes are made to protect the welfare of stretched squads.

Already depleted by an injury crisis, the Reds will play three games in six-and-a-half days this week.

Klopp's men saw off Leicester City 3-0 in Sunday's late Premier League kick-off and will welcome Atalanta to Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday before travelling to Brighton for Saturday's 1230 GMT kick-off.

"If we keep playing Wednesday night and Saturday 12.30, I am not sure we finish the season with 11 players, all the top six or seven," said Klopp in an impassioned interview with Sky Sports, the largest domestic rights holder of Premier League games.

Under the terms of a £4.5 billion ($6 billion) deal for three seasons, Sky have the first pick from each round of games with BT Sport choosing their headline match second.

But Klopp said broadcasters should adapt to the circumstances of a season like no other, with matches crammed into the calendar to make up for the lost time of a three-month postponement to last season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Everybody tells me it is difficult, but it is difficult for the players. That's what is difficult. The rest is just a decision on a desk in an office," added Klopp.

"If someone tells me again about contracts I go really nuts because the contracts were not made for a Covid season.

"We all have to adapt. You stand here with a facemask, would you have thought a year ago you would go somewhere with a facemask and we cannot be close? That's the situation. Everything changed, but the contract with the broadcasters is still 'we said this so we keep this'."

<h2>- 'Brutal' fixture list -</h2>

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his side had been "set up to fail" when they had to travel back from facing Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on a Wednesday night before a lunchtime kick-off away at Everton.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is hoping to secure qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League away to Rennes on Tuesday to be able to rest players for the final two group games ahead of a "brutal" schedule.

"I have looked at the schedule and it is brutal. We play Arsenal on Boxing Day and then Aston Villa two days later," said Lampard.

"We need to try to win this game and if we can get into the next round then we could rest players, but we still want to win the group. I am confident in the squad, even if we rotate."

Klopp claimed to even have considered sending a youth team to Brighton to prevent more injuries.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain missed the win over Leicester, while Mohamed Salah was absent after testing positive for coronavirus.

"We will go there shaking," said Klopp, claiming he had even thought of "sending" the points to Brighton.

The German stressed his complaints were not motivated by self-interest.

"It was never about us when I spoke about it, it's about all the players. It's about the England players, all the players who play the European championship in the summer," he continued.

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has left Lionel Messi out for the Champions League trip to Dynamo Kiev after losing Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto to long-term injuries in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid.

"Sometimes, you have to protect your players because the calendar is incredible," said Koeman.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the Premier League's top six could be left without 11 fit players unless changes are made to protect the welfare of stretched squads.

Liverpool will not have 11 fit players without changes, warns Klopp

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp on Tuesday welcomed the government's decision to allow fans back into stadiums, a move described by the English Football League chief as a "lifeline" for smaller clubs.

Lower-league clubs, who do not enjoy the TV riches of the Premier League, have been struggling to make ends meet, with supporters shut out during the coronavirus pandemic.

But under plans unveiled on Monday, up to 4,000 people will be able to return to outdoor sports stadiums, depending on levels of Covid-19 in the area, from December 2.

Manchester City boss Guardiola welcomed the potential limited return of fans.

"If they believe it is the best, we will do it and hopefully it will work," he said. "If the government has decided, they must have listened to the scientists and doctors."

Liverpool manager Klopp also welcomed the development, but said he had questions about the logic being applied to the numbers involved.

"The problem is, I just struggle to put faith in any kind of announcements," he said.

"I don't understand why it is only 2,000 people in a 60,000 stadium. But I am not surprised. It's good news, good sign. I'll take it, 100 percent."

<h2>- 'Welcome start' -</h2>

English Football League chairman Rick Parry told the BBC he was looking forward to getting fans back in more substantial numbers but it was a "welcome start".

"At League One and League Two level (third and fourth tiers) it could be very significant," he said. "It's not just the money, it's a very welcome return to an atmosphere, and if we get 4,000 at League Two level it would be very welcome. It can be a very welcome lifeline."

The EFL is considering moving some of its fixtures scheduled for December 1 to the following day in order to get fans in.

Premier League chiefs have welcomed Monday's announcement but made it clear that only a return to bigger crowds would ease the sport's financial problems.

Three of the biggest clubs -- Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City -- are located in regions under the strictest "tier-three" conditions, so it remains to be seen whether they will be allowed to admit fans.

The Rugby Football Union is considering whether to use the climax to England's Autumn Nations Cup campaign on December 6 as an opportunity to prepare for the eventual full return of supporters to Twickenham.

Eddie Jones' side are likely to face France in the competition's showpiece event, which could be staged in front of a crowd of up to 4,000 spectators if the area is considered to be one of low coronavirus risk.

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to start training after negative COVID-19 test: Jurgen Klopp

COVID-19 pandemic has led to a congested schedule in the Premier League which has led to string injuries in players due to which Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp repeated his call for the league to rethink its decision to stick with a maximum of three substitutes per game instead of five.&nbsp;

Even though top leagues in Europe chose to use the option of five substitutes per game in a season truncated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Premier League opted to use only three.

Liverpool have been plagued by a number of injuries. They lost star players due to pandemic.&nbsp;

"Thank god we had the managers' meeting and if we would have voted that day, it would have been 15-5 in favour of five subs," Klopp told reporters.

"We couldn't vote, as managers aren't allowed to do that, but it has gone from 11-9 in favour of three subs to 15-5 in favour of five. Now, hopefully, those making the decisions can make the next steps."

The English Football League (EFL) has allowed the clubs to make five substitutions in matches. However, a change in the Premier League needs the support of 14 teams to vote in favour before it can be implemented.

"We need to make changes with the subs, we need to talk about the fixture list," Klopp added. "In Christmas, we will again play twice in less than 48 hours and we'll have this discussion again.

"Everyone will look at me (and say) 'Oh, he is talking again about all this stuff'. But at Christmas from a physical point of view, it is possible what we do, but really dangerous and over the season it's the same."

The situation reminded Klopp of his stint in Borussia Dortmund when Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels were played together as teenagers, gaining the experience to form the bedrock of his defensive line in two title-winning seasons. "We cannot compare situations really. I only want to mention it when I came to Dortmund in 2008, my two centre halves were turning 19 and 20 in Subotic and Hummels that winter," Klopp told reporters ahead of Sunday's game against Leicester City. "We played with them for the entire time and they were talents. We have the talent here, they are young - 18, 19, 23 - and we have more experienced players, so we will see. Everybody has a chance. "We have midfielders, not in the moment but hopefully in a couple of weeks, who can play the more defensive role as well." According to Klopp, Liverpool may dip into the transfer market for reinforcements when the window reopens in January. "I don't know what we can do in January to be honest. I have no idea," Klopp added. "That we look for solutions, look at the transfer market, that is clear of course. But at the moment we have the situation we have." (Inputs from Reuters)

Jurgen Klopp hopes youngsters step up in injury-plagued Liverpool

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp united to fight for a U-turn to the Premier League's three-substitution rule after Manchester City and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

&nbsp;A share of the points between the sides that have combined to win the title for the past three seasons leaves Liverpool in third just a point off the top, while City sit five points further back in 11th but with a game in hand.

A flying start from Liverpool was rewarded with Mohamed Salah's 13th-minute penalty, but Gabriel Jesus levelled for Guardiola's men before City captain Kevin De Bruyne pulled a penalty wide three minutes before half-time.

After a pulsating first 45 minutes, the tempo eased off in the second with Liverpool suffering an injury blow when Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off with a calf problem.

Guardiola and Klopp have been outspoken advocates of the use of five substitutes, which was used in the Premier League at the end of last season and is being used in all other major leagues in Europe and the Champions League this season.

However, the Premier League's top teams lost a vote for it to remain for the 2020/21 season with fears it only serves to benefit the clubs with bigger squads.

"We speak about how we have to fight again and again about five substitutions," said Guardiola when asked about the subject of his post-match conversation with Klopp.

"All around the world there is five substitutions. Here we believe we are a special league with just three players, we don't protect the players.

"Look at Trent Alexander-Arnold, an international English player, he is injured. That's why it is a disaster.

"With this calendar which comes from a special year before, I will demand, if the people allow my voice, five substitutions have to come back for the players, the managers, everyone to do it. If not, it's difficult to sustain it."

Klopp accused Premier League CEO Richard Masters of a "lack of leadership" over the matter. "It's not an advantage, it's a necessity," added the Liverpool boss.

<h2>- Klopp's front four -</h2>

Klopp's brave team selection with Diogo Jota joining Roberto Firmino, Salah and Sadio Mane in a front four was rewarded with a blistering start from the defending champions.

Salah smashed home from the penalty spot to open the scoring after Kyle Walker upended Mane.

"It was a super football game form all points of view," said Klopp. "Two top teams ready for a massive fight. The energy of both teams tonight was incredible. After 10-15 minutes everybody was already breathing heavily."

City, though, managed to compose themselves after going behind and pick the holes in the two-man Liverpool midfield that Klopp's attacking approach left exposed.

Jesus showed why City have missed a natural striker for most of the season with both he and Sergio Aguero sidelined by injury, producing a stunning finish to level on 31 minutes.

The Brazilian flicked De Bruyne's driven pass beyond Alexander-Arnold before prodding beyond his international teammate Alisson Becker.

City were now in the ascendancy as De Bruyne drilled a low shot inches wide, but the normally brilliant Belgian let Liverpool off the hook just before half-time.

Joe Gomez was penalised for handling inside the area after a VAR review. But De Bruyne missed his first penalty for four years when he pulled his spot-kick wide of the target.

The second period failed to match the thrilling end-to-end pace of the first, but it was City who had more control and the better openings.

Jesus headed a golden opportunity wide before De Bruyne saw another sighter fail to dip in time from the edge of the box.

"In the second half we had a more clear chances but a draw is a fair result," added Guardiola. "Against teams like Liverpool if you concede a penalty you should avoid and miss a penalty, it makes it more difficult."

Guardiola, Klopp unite to fight for five subs in Premier League

With <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> lining up arguably the biggest match of the 2020-21 season so far in Manchester City versus Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, the hype and build-up to the enticing encounter have already started to tickle some nerves of the fans.&nbsp;

While the matches between Manchester City and Liverpool have turned out to be a tremendous spectacle for football lovers, be it in the Premier League or cup competitions, the rivalry between the two top English sides have touched new heights.&nbsp;

Ahead of the match between Manchester City and Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp said that the encounter is not a decider for the Premier League trophy as it is being played early in the season while adding that it is nothing compared to the clashes that took place in 2019 or 2018.&nbsp;

Man City hold an advantage in the last five head-to-head matches (in all competition), with the Blues winning three and the Reds winning just one while the other game ended in a draw.&nbsp;

<h2>Liverpool vs Man City not a title decider: Jurgen Klopp</h2>

"It looks like even you think it's not a decider! A very difficult game for both teams at a high level. Early in the season, nothing compared to last year or year before. Everything is different. We need to get through an intense period,” Klopp said in the pre-match press conference on Friday.

"I enjoy preparing for these games but it does not make it easier. Man City one of the toughest places to go in the world,” he added.
Liverpool have been dealt with some huge blows after key defender Virgil Van Dijk was ruled out for several months due to ACL injury. The likes of Fabinho and Joel Matip have also suffered blows while missing matches for the Reds.

"We have much more offensive players [than front three], thank God. Origi, Shaqiri, Minamino...all really good. Only area we have that amount of players unfortunately not. Great Diogo could settle so quick, makes it easier. I love the way he's played and contributed."

<h2>Thiago to miss Man City clash: Jurgen Klopp</h2>

On Thiago, Klopp said the Spanish midfielder is yet to be fully fit and will miss the clash against Manchester City.

“No. Thiago is probably not ready to return. There was no surgery needed but it's still an injury and with that kind of injury you have to look day to day,” Klopp revealed.

“We just have to line up the fittest players and get through an intense period as best we can. I enjoy these kind of games, the preparation, but it doesn't make it any easier,” he added.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed another injury blow as Fabinho joins Virgil Van Dijk on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury on Tuesday during <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/uefa-champions-league">UEFA Champions League</a> match against Midtjylland.

Klopp, after the match, said that Fabinho told him he could carry on with the game but without sprinting and hence, the Liverpool managed decided to substitute him. With Van Dijk, Fabinho and Joel Matip injured, Klopp will now look towards his young guns.&nbsp;

“It’s exactly the last thing we needed,” said Klopp, after Fabinho limped off in the first-half of the 2-0 win.

“I know he felt a hamstring, and that’s not good. He said he could have played on but no sprints, which doesn’t help. We will see, we will know more after a scan but clearly it isn’t good,” he added.

Rhye Williams, 19, is an option for Klopp to partner Joe Gomez in the heart of the defense.&nbsp;

“Rhys Williams he’s only 19-years old and I think he’s played more Champions League games than Premier League games - that’s rare. We’re doing really well but its a shock for a team because now we have to sort that injury,” added Klopp.

After Van Dijk, Liverpool's Fabinho to spend time on sidelines after a hamstring injury

Jurgen Klopp saluted Liverpool's fighting spirit as the Reds proved they can cope without Virgil van Dijk by grinding out a 1-0 win at Ajax in the opening game of their Champions League campaign on Wednesday.

Klopp's side are likely to be without Van Dijk for the rest of the season after the influential Dutch centre-back suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage against Everton last weekend.

Critics have claimed Liverpool will struggle without Van Dijk, but Brazilian midfielder Fabinho filled in impressively alongside Joe Gomez at the heart of the defence.

While Liverpool weren't at their best and rode their luck at times, never more so than when Nicolas Tagliafico diverted Sadio Mane's scuffed effort into his own net in the first half, it was an encouraging Group D opener for Klopp.

There was enough spirit about the 2019 Champions League winners to suggest they will use the Van Dijk blow to fuel their Premier League title defence and European challenge.

"It was not perfect but they fought brilliantly," Klopp said. "We did not take our chances, which was a shame, and Ajax had a big one which hit the post.&nbsp;

"When you're 1-0 up, these things can happen. But overall I'm happy with the game.&nbsp;

"It was not sunshine football but we wanted three points and we got it."

Van Dijk will need knee surgery after being pole-axed by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford's ugly foul and his injury came at a time when Liverpool looked vulnerable after losing 7-2 at Aston Villa before the international break.

Against that backdrop, keeping a clean-sheet for just the third time this season was a big lift for Liverpool, who won for the first time in three games despite also being without defender Joel Matip and midfielder Thiago Alcantara after the brutal Merseyside derby.

"I think both teams could play better football. At moments it was wild. The pitch was deep and muddy," Klopp said.

"Xherdan Shaqiri was lively and Takumi Minamino was unbelievable. He is like a machine. It helps when you can make five substitutions."

Praising Fabinho for an acrobatic goalline clearance, Klopp added: "I didn't know how it happened in the beginning. That's a good example of how the boys did today."

<h2>- Backs to the wall -</h2>

&nbsp;

Liverpool's makeshift defence was easily carved open early on when Quincy Promes advanced down the left and found Dusan Tadic, who set up Ryan Gravenberch for a fierce strike that flashed just wide.

There was another major scare as David Neres' pass found the unmarked Promes six yards from goal, but he shot straight at Adrian to let Liverpool off the hook.

Making the most of that escape, Liverpool took the lead in bizarre fashion in the 35th minute.

Mane eluded Perr Schuurs as he broke into the Ajax area but when the Senegal forward went to shoot, he stubbed his foot into the turf, sending a miscued effort towards Tagliafico, who lost his balance and prodded the ball into his own net under no pressure.

Klopp has been fostering a siege mentality among his players since the Everton game and their backs to the wall spirit was on full display when Fabinho raced back to clear Tadic's lob off the line with a superb overhead kick.

Van Dijk couldn't have done it better himself, but while Fabinho was impressing, Ajax still carried a threat.

Taking aim from the edge of the area, Davy Klaassen smashed a fierce strike off the far post in the first minute of the second half.

Ajax went close again when Noussair Mazraoui took a Neres cutback and forced Adrian into a fine save.

Klopp took off Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Mane, with the latter needing ice on his right leg as he sat on the bench.

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp almost snatched a late equaliser after a mistake from Adrian, but Liverpool held their nerve to provide a morale-boosting start to life without Van Dijk.

Klopp hails spirit as Liverpool show they can cope without Van Dijk

Jurgen Klopp says football can help bring people together in tough times as Liverpool gear up to face Everton on Saturday in a city placed under tough coronavirus rules.

Klopp's champions travel to face Carlo Ancelotti's Premier League leaders for a second Merseyside derby behind closed doors in four months.

Liverpool has been placed under the "very high" alert level of the British government's new three-tier system to check the spread of Covid-19.

Under the strict rules many pubs and bars are closed and people are not allowed to socialise with anybody beyond those they live with.

The Liverpool squad itself has been hit in recent weeks, with Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara testing positive.

"I like to think that here football is always a massive point in this city," said Klopp. "I think months ago we discussed 'is football really necessary, does football play a role in society?'

"Obviously from a subjective point of view I was pretty sure it does.

"Usually when bad things happen, this city comes really together and tries to make the best of it. That is what we try from a football point of view for sure.&nbsp;

"I think if we played Man City now on the weekend it would have the same importance, it's just football is an important thing.

"It's just now because we are both clubs from the city, the whole city is united and will watch one football game, not two."

Klopp hopes derby unites virus-hit Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have accepted £45 million ($58 million) for Wolves forward Diogo Jota. This transfer deal comes with the 23-year-old set to head to Melwood on Saturday to undergo a medical before completing the deal.

The deal will include Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever who will move to Wolves for £10 million (with add-ons).

Jota left Wolves before a Carabao Cup fixture against Stoke City on Thursday. He was an unused substitute at the weekend in the 2-0 win at Sheffield United. Whereas, the 18-year-old Ki-Jana has played four times for Jurgen Klopp's side, can play right wing-back, right-back and centre-back.

The defender joined the Reds from Ajax in 2018, and last year, Ki-Jaana signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.

The deal with Wolves for Ki-Jaana is yet to be finalised between the two clubs.&nbsp;

Earlier, Premier League club Liverpool on Friday announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £20 million ($26 million).

Thiago agreed upon a “long-term contract” with the Premier League champions after ending his seven-year stay with German giants Bayern Munich. Thiago comes with a massive reputation of being one of the top midfielders and was in excellent form in the 2019-20 season where he helped Bayern Munich lift the treble of UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga trophy and German Cup.

Blues boss Frank Lampard 'amused' by Jurgen Klopp's remarks on Chelsea's transfer spending

Jurgen Klopp has warned Liverpool's title rivals that splashing out on new signings is no guarantee of success as the Premier League champions start their new campaign against Leeds on Saturday.

Klopp's side are back in action just seven weeks after Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy to mark the culmination of Liverpool's first title-winning campaign for 30 years.

As they powered to the title in record-setting style, Liverpool looked so untouchable that an era of sustained dominance seems eminently possible.

They won 32 of their 38 games to finish 18 points clear of second-placed Manchester City and 33 ahead of both third-placed Manchester United and fourth-placed Chelsea.

But for City, United and Chelsea, the brief break since last season has given Liverpool's title challengers a much-needed chance to improve their firepower by splashing out in the transfer window.

Chelsea have been the biggest spenders as Frank Lampard invested around £200 million ($257 million) on Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell, with Thiago Silva arriving on a free transfer and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy reportedly set to join from Rennes as well.

Forced to surrender the title he had won for the previous two seasons, City boss Pep Guardiola has responded by signing Dutch international Nathan Ake from Bournemouth to finally plug the hole in the heart of his defence left by Vincent Kompany's departure in 2019.

City have also signed promising Spanish winger Ferran Torres from Valencia as Guardiola looks to revitalise a team that seemed weary towards the end of a frustrating season that petered out with their limp Champions League quarter-final defeat against Lyon.

Across Manchester at Old Trafford, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a vibrant young team that finished strongly after the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes.

A full season for Portugal playmaker Fernandes, combined with Solskjaer's swoop for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, should allow United to narrow the gap to Liverpool.

<h2>- 'Different kind of club' -</h2>

In contrast, Liverpool have adopted a cautious approach given the financial fall-out from the coronavirus -- stadiums will remain shuttered until at least October and probably longer.

Promoted Leeds, led by enigmatic boss Marcelo Bielsa on their return to the top-flight after a 16-year absence, provide intriguing opponents to measure if Liverpool's thirst for silverware has been quenched by their recent success.

Klopp's only addition to date is Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas, but the Reds boss believes the continuity in Liverpool's squad will serve them well while their overhauled rivals try to gel.

"For some clubs it seems less important how uncertain the future is: those owned by countries, owned by oligarchs, that's the truth. We're a different kind of club," Klopp told the BBC.

"We cannot just change it overnight and say, 'so now we want to behave like Chelsea'.&nbsp;

"Now they are signing a lot of players. That can be an advantage of course but that means they have to fit together pretty quickly as well.

"It's about working together on the training ground. That will probably be an advantage for us."

Having exchanged angry words with Klopp and his coaching staff during Chelsea's defeat at Liverpool late last season, Lampard will have taken note of the latest jibe from Anfield.

But Lampard acknowledges Chelsea's lavish spending has put him under pressure to deliver a sustained title challenge after his promising first season in charge ended with an FA Cup final defeat against Arsenal.

"I know expectations will be there. I won't hide away from that," Lampard said. "I'm not going to lie, we have brought in a high level of player that we feel will improve our squad.&nbsp;

"At the same time, I also know what it takes to win the Premier League. We won't jump too far ahead of ourselves."

City and United will have to wait a week longer to play their first games of the season after being granted extra rest due to their involvement in the latter stages of European competitions last season.

"At the same time, I also know what it takes to win the Premier League. We won't jump too far ahead of ourselves." City and United will have to wait a week longer to play their first games of the season after being granted extra rest due to their involvement in the latter stages of European competitions last season. Fixtures (1400 GMT unless stated): Saturday Fulham v Arsenal (1130), Crystal Palace v Southampton, Liverpool v Leeds (1630), West Ham v Newcastle (1900) Sunday West Brom v Leicester (1300), Tottenham v Everton (1530) Monday Sheffield United v Wolves (1700), Brighton v Chelsea (1915)

Klopp shrugs off rivals' spending as Premier League kicks off

Jurgen Klopp was voted the League Managers' Association Manager of the Year on Monday after ending Liverpool's 30-year wait to win the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a>.

Klopp led Liverpool to the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> title in the same season they were FIFA Club World champions.

The German's award was announced by former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson, after whom the trophy is now named.

"Jurgen, fantastic," Ferguson said on Sky Sports. "We speak about Leeds spending 16 years in the Championship, but Liverpool 30 years since winning that league, incredible.

"You thoroughly deserved it. The performance level of your team was outstanding. Your personality runs right throughout the whole club. It was a marvellous performance.

"I'll forgive you for waking me up at 3.30am to tell me you have won the league! Thank you, but anyway, you thoroughly deserved it. Well done."

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp said of Ferguson: "I know it's not 100 percent appropriate as a Liverpool manager but I admire him. I remember he was the first British manager I met.

"We had breakfast. I'm not sure how much he remembers but I remember because for me this moment was like meeting the Pope. It was absolutely great and from that first season we clicked.

"I didn't think at this moment I would have a trophy in my hands named after him."

Chris Wilder, last year's winner of the award, settled for the runner-up spot this time after Sheffield United's impressive first season back in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Klopp wants to retain a lean squad to ensure Liverpool remain competitive next season.

The Reds boss used 24 players in the Premier League this term.

Klopp gave chances to some of the club's academy players in the FA and League Cups to cope with fixture congestion.

But he believes keeping as small a core as possible keeps the players on their toes.

"The solution cannot be to have a much bigger squad for the specific moment and then realise you cannot use all the players," Klopp said.

"These players can only play the football they play because they know they are needed.

"They are all human beings and nobody can be held back for a year and then on the last day of the year be told, 'Now we need you'.

"In between now and then there must be a lot of training and support and challenges stuff like this.

"The size of the squad is not that important to me, the quality of the squad is very much so."

Klopp named LMA Manager of the Year

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his side will need to keep improving to hold off the chasing pack next season <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/liverpool-lift-premier-league-trophy-fans-pour-out-on-streets-to-celebrate-despite-virus-warnings-315315">after lifting the Premier League trophy</a>.

The Reds clinched the title last month, but finally got their hands on the silverware after a 5-3 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.

Chelsea have already strengthened ahead of next season with the signings of a long-term Liverpool target Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

Klopp also expects Manchester City and Manchester United to bolster their squads.

But the German believes there is still improvement for his players to make despite becoming English, European and world champions over the past 14 months.

"We should not stop, we have internal challenges to improve," said Klopp.

"We have the chance to make another step, but we have to because the others will not sleep.

"Chelsea is such a talented team, we had to bring everything on the pitch tonight. Man Utd, Man City (will contend), there are no guarantees for anything, but we will try."

Liverpool also beat Chelsea to lift the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the season to go with the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup and Klopp admitted he will take time for a special momento after an incredible run of success.

"We are champions of England, Europe and the world. We won four trophies, really big ones, so I couldn't be more proud," he added.

"I'm usually not a person who needs pictures but I will have a picture with all four trophies because it doesn't happen often, so we should."

Jordan Henderson had the honour of becoming the first Liverpool player to lift the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> trophy and the Reds' captain believes the manner of victory over a Chelsea side, who needed a result to confirm their place in the Champions League next season, bodes well for what can be achieved next season.

"It's been a journey and to finish it off like this is really special," said Henderson.

"After this, next season is going to be a big challenge for us. But I thought tonight we showed the mentality to come and perform again and get the result we did."

'The others won't sleep': Klopp wants even more from Liverpool

Liverpool lift Premier League trophy; fans pour out on streets to celebrate despite virus warnings

Wycombe Wanderers forward Adebayo Akinfewa received a congratulatory message from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after his side clinched promotion to the Championship after defeating Oxford United 2-1 in the League One playoff final at the iconic Wembley Stadium on Monday.

It was the first time in the history that Wycombe Wanderers secured a place in the English second-division as the players celebrated the success in joy. Akinfewa in particular looked ecstatic after Wycombe’s promotion to Championship as he recalled his hardship dating back to four years when he was unemployed.

"Look, look, let me calm down. First and foremost, I want to thank God, because today he made the impossible possible," he said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.

"Four years ago I stood in front of you and I was technically unemployed.

"Let me tell you something, the only person that can hit me up on WhatsApp this time is Klopp, so we can celebrate together. You get me? Oi!"

Last week, Akinfewa said that he was subjected to racial abuse during the play-off semi-final match against Fleetwood Town, sparking an investigation by the Football Association. However, he didn’t discuss the incident after Wycombe secured a place in the Champions. He said he will speak about it.

Not a good day for football: Jurgen Klopp reacts to CAS verdict on Man City vs UEFA case

Jurgen Klopp was adamant results remain important to him in Liverpool's closing games after the newly crowned Premier League champions were humbled 4-0 by Manchester City.

The Reds came down to earth with a bump at the Etihad on Thursday in their first match since securing the title last week.

Klopp's side still have a 20-point lead over Pep Guardiola's second-placed team but with six games remaining but the German boss still wants to finish strongly.

"If someone said the result didn't matter for my team, I cannot help them," Klopp said.

"Yes, results matter a lot. I am not only looking for results but we want to win football games -- that is the reason we work on the training ground, go to away games and play home games."

One motivating factor could be the challenge of beating City's record of 100 points from two seasons ago.

Liverpool, who have dropped points in just four games this season, currently have 86 ahead of Sunday's home clash with Aston Villa.

"To get there we have to win football games and we didn't do that here," he said.

"So now we make sure we are ready for Aston Villa and the points tally at the end of the season is the result of the results we collect until then."

Liverpool started brightly against City, with Mohamed Salah testing Ederson and then hitting the post, but the hosts took charge after Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 25 minutes.&nbsp;

Further goals came from Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put a Sterling shot into his own net.

Despite the big points gap, City remain a potent force and could end the season with Champions League glory.

"It's a reminder how good Man City are," Klopp said. "I didn't need that, I knew it before. The surprise that it's still possible, nice, that in a league where City are playing, someone else can be champions. That's not very likely with the quality they have.

"We will see next season but it's a while until then. Next season we will think about next season."

Premier League: Jurgen Klopp targets strong finish after Man City thumping

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not believe he has to spend “millions” in the transfer market in a bid to put more depth and improve the current squad as he said that improving on the current crop of players is a tricky task.&nbsp;

There has been a celebratory mood in the Liverpool camp following their <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> triumph after a 30-year-long break. However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sights on defending the title successfully in the next season. With COVID-19 pandemic likely to affect the cash-flow in the transfer market, many clubs may put a break on their spending spree.&nbsp;

Klopp’s Liverpool were crowned <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> champions last week for the first time in 30 years with a record seven matches to go. Klopp said that spending heavy would not be easy or the right thing to do during the tough times.&nbsp;

The Reds backed out in the race for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as Chelsea snapped the German up. The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana also look likely to leave the Anfield this transfer window.&nbsp;

"COVID has, of course, influenced both sides with ins and outs, that is completely normal, and it's just not likely that it will be the busiest summer in the world," Klopp told reporters.

<h2>We try to be creative: Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's transfer targets</h2>

"But maybe at a later point in the year, if the transfer window is still open, we will know more. But this squad... look at it. It is not a squad you have to change now and say 'OK, we need this position and this position'."

He said he had a good 16-17 players who could all play at the same level.&nbsp;

"We cannot spend millions and millions and millions because we want to or we think it is nice to do," he added. "We never wanted that."

With Klopp ruling out ‘big signings’, academy players could be given a jump in terms of responsibility. Klopp has players in his radar.&nbsp;

"You have to be creative and we try to be creative," said Klopp. "We try to find solutions internally and there is still a lot to come. We have three or four players who can make big steps."

Thousands of Liverpool fans gathered at the Pier Head for a second night of celebrations on Friday after the club became champions of England for the first time in 30 years.

Police said officers were subject to violent confrontations and had glasses and bottles thrown at them as the celebrations continued in the city centre into the early hours.

Klopp, in an open letter to fans in the Liverpool Echo, said he "did not love" the scenes that took place at Pier Head.

"I am a human being and your passion is also my passion, but right now the most important thing is that we do not have these kind of public gatherings," wrote Klopp.

"We owe it to the most vulnerable in our community, to the health workers who have given so much and whom we have applauded and to the police and local authorities who help us as a club not to do this," he added.

Klopp said fans should celebrate in a safe way in private settings to avoid spreading the disease.

He added: "If things were different I would love nothing more than to celebrate together, to have a parade that would be even bigger than the one after we won the Champions League last year so that we could all share this special moment but it just is not possible."

The German boss urged fans not to let efforts to fight COVID-19 go to waste.

"When the time is right we will celebrate," he said. "We will enjoy this moment and we will paint the city red. But for now, please stay at home as much as possible."

In a joint statement with Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council on Saturday, the club criticised supporters who had ignored social-distancing advice.

Liverpool's mayor Joe Anderson condemned the scenes, saying they had brought a "negative focus" on the city.

Klopp also praised fans for their support during the season, which was interrupted for three months by the coronavirus.

He described it as "an incredible time for incredible supporters of an incredible club in an incredible city".

"I love your passion, your songs, your refusal to accept defeat, your commitment, your understanding of the game and your faith in what we are doing," he said.

Police said £10,000 ($12,000) worth of damage was caused to the Liver Building, one of the city's most famous landmarks, after a firework landed on a balcony on Friday.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with causing criminal damage and was due to appear at Liverpool magistrates' court on Monday.

Klopp admonishes Liverpool fans after chaotic celebrations

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was overcome with emotion as he dedicated the club's first <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">league</a> title in 30 years to the fans on Thursday.

Klopp wiped away tears of joy during a television interview minutes after Chelsea's 2-1 win against Manchester City sealed the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/premier-league">Premier League</a> crown for Liverpool.

"It's such a big moment, I am completely overwhelmed," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"Tonight it is for you out there," added Klopp.

"It's incredible. I hope you stay at home, or go in front of your house if you want, but not more. We do it together in this moment and it is a joy to do it for you."

Thousands ignored Klopp's plea to respect social distancing rules amid the coronavirus as they partied the night away in the streets around Anfield.

But the German promised Liverpool will hold a celebratory parade through the city when it is safe to do so.

"We will create pictures in the future with the parade whenever it will be for all our supporters," added Klopp. "We will be together and enjoy this in a proper manner."

The long-awaited title was clinched without Liverpool kicking a ball as City's defeat meant Klopp's men have an unassailable 23-point lead at the top of the Premier League with seven games to play.

A first league title in three decades caps a meteoric rise for the Reds back to the top of the English game after Klopp arrived in 2015 with the club struggling just to break into the top four.

But the former Borussia Dortmund coach remains hungry for more silverware in the coming years with most of his squad still in their prime.

"What they did over the last two or three years is just exceptional and a pure joy for me to coach them," said Klopp, who watched City's defeat alongside his players at a hotel.

"It's just been a really exciting ride from the first day I arrived and it is not over yet, that's the good thing.

"The team all look like they have a good few years in their legs but for tonight we just enjoy this moment. It is the best thing I can imagine, it's more than I ever dreamed of to be honest."

<h2>- 'We've been incredible' -</h2>

Virgil Van Dijk's signing from Southampton in 2018 has proved one of the key moments in Liverpool's renaissance under Klopp.

The Dutch defender said Liverpool had to raise their game even higher this season to overhaul City after a club record 97 points was still only good enough for second last season.

"What a season. We've been incredible. To be part of this group of players and part of this journey is incredible and I am very proud to be able to call myself a Premier League winner," he said.

"In the league this year we have taken it to another level. We have been so consistent and played so well."

Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry, whose Fenway Sports Group bought the club in 2010, paid tribute to their incredible campaign.

"This was a season for the ages and for the faithful of Liverpool Football Club," Henry tweeted.

Kenny Dalglish, who won three titles as Liverpool manager and was the last man to guide them to the trophy in 1990, admitted he never expected the wait to be so long.

"I think back then if you'd have said it would take 30 years you'd have been arrested and sectioned, but sometimes things happen," Dalglish told BT Sport.

"Since Jurgen came in, it has been very positive all the way. He's been fantastic and he epitomises everything that Liverpool stands for.

"I think there will be plenty more days to look forward to as long as Jurgen is there."

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson lifted the Champions League trophy last season and the midfielder said clinching the Premier League was just as sweet.

"I'm just a little bit overwhelmed right now, it's just an amazing feeling and just so proud of what we've achieved," he said.

"Another moment in our lives that we'll never forget."

In the moments after the final whistle at Chelsea, Liverpool defender Andy Robertson best summed up the feelings of Reds fans across the world as he simply tweeted: "Oh my god."
