The US President Donald Trump has made it clear that for him election campaigning is more important than the novel coronavirus that has affected more than seven million lives in the US.

During one of his election campaign rally in Newport News, Virginia mocked his rival Joe Biden for doing the opposite of what Trump ignores — staying indoors.

Trump completed a packed three-state schedule within three hours, and during his last rally in Newport News mocked Joe Biden by passing a remark on him, "This guy never goes out. It's terrible huh?"

He further continued the joke by saying, "If I lose to a man who doesn't campaign... I don't know", which attracted fits of laughter and applause from his supporters.

The rallies that took place on Friday saw very less people wearing face masks, and none of the campaigns followed social distancing regulations set by the experts.

Biden had travelled from Delaware to Washington on Friday to attend a ceremony held in the honour of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The ceremony was held at the US Capitol and Biden was seen attending it to pay respects to the famous and inspirational RBG.

However, the Democratic nominee did not schedule any campaign for the day. Biden has been trying to arrange his election campaign rallies virtually to make sure the rallies do not contribute to the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Biden has accused Trump of mishandling the novel coronavirus for his personal gains. "Since President Trump's last visit to Florida just two weeks ago, over 40,000 more Floridians have tested positive for coronavirus and the state marked 13,000 Covid-related deaths," Biden said Thursday as Trump flew to a Jacksonville rally.

Staying indoos was not the only 'accusation' made by Trump for his rival — one who is leading in the initial polls. He also accused Biden of not doing enough to help the Hispanics and the African-Americans in the US.

"I'm a wall between the American dream and chaos," he said. "I did more for the black community in 47 months... than Joe Biden did in 47 years."

He said he was unveiling a "platinum plan" that aims to increase capital to African Americans, create three million new jobs for the black community and implement "the highest standards of policing."

Trump also boasted saying he did "even more than I promised" for the African-American community in Georgia.

US Election 2020: What are the choices that voters face in key states?

United States President Donald Trump on Friday said Americans might not know the winner of the November presidential election for months due to disputes over mail ballots.

This statement in an addition to his build up on his criticism of a method that could be used by half of US voters this year. He was speaking at a rally in Newport News, Virginia.

Trump in recent days has refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses the election to Democrat Joe Biden and has said he expects the Supreme Court will have to declare a winner.

Election experts have said it might take several days after the November 3 election until a winner is known as officials will need time to count mail ballots that arrive after election day.

To this end, Trump said he would prefer to find out quickly whether he won or lost, rather than wait for the mail ballots to come in.

“I like watching television and have, ‘The winner is’, right? You might not hear it for months, because this is a mess,” he said.

“It’s very unlikely that you’re going to hear a winner that night,” he said. “I could be leading and then they’ll just keep getting ballots, and ballots, and ballots and ballots. Because now they’re saying the ballots can come in late.”

Court rulings this month have allowed officials in the battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and North Carolina to count ballots that arrive after November 3 as long as they were sent by Election Day.

Opinion polls show that more Democrats than Republicans plan to vote by mail to avoid exposure to COVID-19 in crowded polling places. Trump’s campaign has filed lawsuits in several states to restrict mail balloting.

Talking about the reports of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine trial reaching final stage, Trump praised the US-based companies and said, "This is record time. This is the fourth vaccine candidate in the United States to reach the final stage of trial. So, we have four candidates already at a very late date. 'Late' being a very positive word, in this case." Also read: Trump's son, Eric Trump, ordered to testify in fraud probe before US elections He has been alleged of forcing the companies to release the coronavirus vaccine pre-maturely to help him win the upcoming US elections. Trump also announced that his administration is awarding USD 200 million of CARES Act funding to all 50 states to prepare to distribute the vaccine to high-risk residents. "We want to do that the instant it is approved — not the following day, but the following moment," he said, adding that through Operation Warp Speed, the US also continues to accelerate life saving therapies. Joe Biden, during a Black Economic Summit in North Carolina, blamed Trump for mishandling the pandemic and said, "the virus wasn't his fault. But the way he's handled it has been criminal." The clash between the two has come after Donald Trump was caught on tape admitting to downplaying the seriousness of COVID-19 after an investigative journalist Bob Woodward released the tapes for his book titled Rage in which he uses excerpts from Trump's interviews to reveal things about the US President's role in mishandling of coronavirus.

President Donald Trump is mocking his Democratic rival Joe Biden for letting his mask ''hang off his ear'' when he delivers speeches.

Speaking to rally-goers in Pennsylvania, Trump poked fun at Biden , "Did you ever see a man who likes a mask as much as him?"

"He has it hanging down. Because it gives him a feeling of security. If I were a psychiatrist, right, you know I'd say: 'This guy's got some big issues. Hanging down. Hanging down,'' said Trump.

Trump acknowledged that face coverings are particularly important for the nation heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, as public experts have called for Americans to be particularly diligent to prevent a repeat of the explosion of new coronavirus cases seen after Memorial Day.

"Distance on the weekend and all of that stuff. Wear your mask when you're close together in particular and wash your hands, all of those things," he told his supporters.

He also defended his controversial statement calling on people to vote by mail-in ballot, follow their vote and vote again if they believe it has not been tabulated, igniting a furor for appearing to urge a potential act of voter fraud.

Trump has repeatedly asserted, without evidence, that mail-in voting - expanded by some states because of the coronavirus pandemic - would increase fraud and disrupt the November election, although experts say voter fraud of any kind is extremely rare in the United States.

Voting more than once in an election is illegal and in some states, including North Carolina, it is a felony not only to vote more than once but also to induce another to do so.

Many Americans vote by mail because they cannot make it to the polls. In 2016, nearly one in four voters cast presidential ballots by mail.

Protests broke out in different parts of the US after a jury issued a ruling in the case of Breonna Taylor's fatal shooting case on Wednesday.

A grand jury considering the case announced that one out of three policemen responsible for shooting the Black medical worker will be charged for wanton endangerment.

This led to several protests across the country as people demanded justice for the 26-year-old who was shot by police officers in her own home on March 13 claiming it to be a narcostics raid.

The ruling got mixed reviews from the candidates of the upcoming US elections that are scheduled for November 03 this year.

During the protests, two policemen were shot — details are awaited on their and the suspect's identities. The statement said that China had been expanding its influence operations ahead of the election to ''shape the policy environment in the United States'' and had been weighing the pros and cons of taking more aggressive action.

US Election 2020: Why are swing states more important than others?

President Donald Trump will make a stop in Pennsylvania and Democratic rival Joe Biden will attend two virtual fundraisers on Tuesday as the White House contenders battle for an advantage in the brewing fight over a new US Supreme Court justice.

Trump said he planned to reveal his pick to succeed liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Saturday and hoped to have a Senate confirmation vote before the Nov. 3 election, sparking fierce criticism from Biden and congressional Democrats.

The death of Ginsburg last Friday and the prospect of a brutal political struggle to replace her as Republicans look to cement a 6-3 conservative majority on the court, injected a new air of uncertainty into a White House campaign that Biden has led steadily in opinion polls.

On the campaign trail on Monday, both candidates returned to themes that dominated the race before Ginsburg's death. Biden in Wisconsin slammed Trump's response to the coronavirus pandemic, and the Republican president touted his economic record and fired back with criticism of Biden's past support of free-trade deals, which he said cost the state jobs.

Trump will return to the trail on Tuesday with an airport rally outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, another key battleground state, along with Wisconsin and Michigan, that Trump narrowly won in 2016 but Biden is hoping to recapture for Democrats in the November election.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday showed Biden leading Trump among likely voters in Wisconsin, while the two were about even in Pennsylvania.

Biden is expected to participate in two fundraisers, one will feature speakers including Jim Chanos, the famed Wall Street short seller, and Robert Wolf, a former chief executive at UBS Americas and an economic adviser to former President Barack Obama.

The other fundraiser will be a conversation with Vivek Murthy, a former US surgeon general and one of Biden's top advisers on the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden has built a major financial advantage for the campaign's final stretch after a big fundraising haul in August. The campaign and its party allies will report having $466 million in cash at the end of August, while Trump's war chest stood at $325 million, according to officials from both sides.

That has allowed Biden's campaign to push into new states it had not been spending heavily in before. On Monday, Biden's campaign said it would add Republican-leaning Georgia and Iowa, both won easily by Trump in 2016 but also home to competitive US Senate races, to a list of 10 other states where it is running paid advertisements.

Voters in about a half-dozen states have already begun casting early in-person ballots, and election experts expect a surge of early and mail-in voting this year as people try to reduce their risk of exposure to the coronavirus.

US election 2020: Trump and Biden battle for an advantage in brewing fight

The incumbent president of the United States, Donald Trump, and former vice-president Joe Biden have hit the campaign trail ahead of the November 3 presidential election. And with the trail comes a series of accusations and claims.

The latest salvo has been fired by Trump who says if Biden wins the polls, it would be a win for China.

He explains it too.

"Joe Biden spent the last 47 years shipping your jobs to China and foreign countries. You know that. I've spent the last four years bringing the jobs back to our country and back to Ohio," Trump said at a rally in Dayton, Ohio on Monday.

Biden, 77, and his running mate Kamala Harris are challenging incumbents President Trump, 74, and Vice President Mike Pence in the presidential election.

The Republican leader described the November 3 polls as the most important in recent memory. "On November 3rd, Americans will decide whether we lift our nation to soaring new heights of prosperity or whether we will allow Joe Biden --Sleepy Joe -- to shut down our economy, impose a USD 4 trillion tax hike, abolish Ohio clean coal, oil, natural gas, and ship your jobs in factories overseas to China and countries that you never even heard of," he said.

The democratic tax plans for the 2020 election lists a gradual increase in proposed taxes by USD 4 trillion in the next decade, placing a greater burden on the super-rich category.

"Put simply: If Biden wins, China wins. If we win, Ohio wins and most importantly, in all fairness, America wins. Because you finally have the president who puts America first, and I do put America first," Trump said to applause from the audience.

Trump has held election rallies in the last two weeks, notwithstanding the risks posed by the coronavirus. Thousands attend the events without masks and breaking social-distancing norms. Trump has called the rallies "protest against stupidity".

"You know this is really not a rally. This has to do with workers, programmes, all the things we love. And this is really what we call 'a friendly protest'. You know what we're protesting. We're protesting stupidity, okay, because so many stupid things you see," Trump said.

Trump said the people know the terrible damage that Biden has inflicted on the economy in his near-50 years in politics.

"Can you believe it? For 47 years Joe Biden shook the hands of American workers and then stabbed them in the back. He said 'Washington vultures' I mean, think of it," he said.

"He's been doing it for 47 years. I've been doing it for three and a half years so he should be able to beat me I would think. He's much more experienced. Oh! he's great. Oh! he's a beauty. But he betrayed you. He lied to you. He abused you. Which is why it's time to retire Joe Biden. This is serious talk," Trump said.

Biden championed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and China's entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Trump said, adding that the NAFTA had many adverse affects on the US economy and China's entry into the WTO led them to go up like a rocket.

The World Trade Organisation considers China as a developing nation, Trump said. "No. They're not a developing nation. By being a developing nation they get all sorts of advantages over us so we've been protesting it," he said.

As vice president, Biden did nothing even as China stole intellectual property, flooded the market with dumped goods, unfairly subsidised its industries, manipulated its currency, Trump alleged.

"They poison our communities with fentanyl. You know that? Instead, Biden allowed China to ravage our towns, raid our factories, and rip apart our communities. That's what they did," he said.

The US had last month sanctioned several Chinese citizens for trafficking fentanyl, a banned opioid.
