An&nbsp;Indian Air Force plane evacuated over 170 people from Kabul on Tuesday, including&nbsp;India's ambassador to Afghanistan, a government official said, as diplomats and civilians scrambled to get out of the country after the Taliban seized the capital.

The flight landed in the western&nbsp;Indian city of Jamnagar for refuelling on the way to Delhi.

Indian embassy officials were escorted by the Taliban to Kabul&nbsp;airport, where a military aircraft was on standby to evacuate them after New Delhi decided to shut its mission.

The embassy's decision to ask the Taliban to shepherd the Indians out was made when the fighters closed access to the once heavily fortified neighbourhood after capturing Kabul the previous day.

Thousands of people desperate to flee Afghanistan thronged Kabul's airport on Monday, after the Taliban fighters streamed into the capital unopposed, prompting the United States to pause evacuations.

India, which has invested millions of dollars in development projects across Afghanistan, once operated four consulates in the country, besides the embassy in Kabul.

The last operating consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif was shut down a week ago, days before Taliban insurgents took control of the northern city, where the Afghan army quickly surrendered.

Over twenty members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are being rewarded with gallantry awards for their bravery during the conflict between the militaries in eastern Ladakh last year. These guards were posted&nbsp;along the India-China LAC.

These bravery medals are part of the 1,380 service medals announced by the Union government on the eve of Independence Day, all awarded to members of various central and state police forces.

The latest awards list includes two President's Police Medals for Gallantry (PPMG), 628 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG), 88 President's Police Medals for distinguished service, and 662 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.

Sub Inspector Amar Deep of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and late Head Constable Kale Sunil Dattatraya of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are the only two recipients of the President's Police Medal for Gallantry.

Among the highest number of gallantry medals earned, 257 (1 PPMG and 256 PMG) go to the J&amp;K Police, followed by 151 (1 PPMG and 150 PMG) by the Central Reserve Police Force, according to an official home ministry list.

From the 23 gallantry medals awarded to the ITBP, twenty were earned for operations during the May-June 2020 clashes with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Ladakh, where the central paramilitary guards the 3,488-km-long icy Line of Actual Control (LAC) shoulder-to-shoulder with the Army.

A force statement said eight personnel received the PMG for their heroic acts, meticulous planning, and tactical insight in defending the motherland in Galwan Nalla on June 15.

Six personnel were decorated with the PMG in recognition of their gallantry during hostilities near Hot Springs in Ladakh on May 18. The remaining six received the PMG for&nbsp;gallant action during a violent face-off&nbsp;near Finger IV on the same day.

Three ITBP personnel have been awarded the PMG for their work in anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.

"This is the highest number of gallantry medals awarded to the force for the bravery of its men in border face offs, skirmishes and border guarding duties," ITBP spokesperson Vivek Kumar Pandey said.

The specialised mountain force, ITBP, is deployed on border guarding duties from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh covering 3,488 km of Indo-China Border and manning Border Outposts on altitudes ranging from 9,000 to 18,800 feet in the Western, Middle and Eastern sectors of the India-China border. 
 
Performing Yoga shows the commitment of ITBP personnel because this area in Ladakh witnesses minus 30 degree Celsius during winter, which often leads to cracking gun barrels and other issues. The road to Galwan are also few, which means soldiers have to survive in thin air while carrying all their equipments. 
 
With such a high terrain, soldiers often need time to acclimatise to their environment, or risk illness that can kill anyone in hours.

The ITBP troops not only effectively used shields to protect themselves but also responded fiercely to PLA's advancing troops and brought the situation under control. With the highest order of professional skills, ITBP troops fought shoulder to shoulder and also brought the injured Indian Army troops to the rear.

Even when the ITBP troops fought whole night, they received minimum casualties by giving a befitting reply to the stone-pelters of the PLA. At places they gave determined stand-off about 17 to 20 hours throughout the intervening nights.

Due to the high altitude training and manoeuvre experience of the force in the Himalayas deployments, the ITBP troops kept the PLA troops at bay and due to the all-out and befitting response of ITBP soldiers at almost all fronts many areas were safeguarded in the hypersensitive areas.

The force also recommended the names of 318 ITBP personnel and 40 other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel for award of Union Home Minister Special Operation Medals for their dedicated services in fight against the COVID-19.

The ITBP has been in the forefront of the coronavirus battle since January when it had established the biggest quarantine facility in Chhawla camp for Wuhan and Italy evacuees.

Besides dedicating its hospitals for COVID-19 patients of the CAPFs/CPOs, it is also looking after the world’s biggest 10,000 bed capacity Sardar Patel COVID-19 Care Centre and hospital at Radha Soami Beas, Chhatarpur, New Delhi since July.

India-China standoff: ITBP troops responded fiercely to China's army at Galwan; recommended for gallantry medals

The ministry is planning to commission transgenders as officers in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Sources in the security establishment told PTI that with the central government notifying the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act in December last year it is now essential to provide transgenders with a "level playing field" in all avenues and services including combat policing.

The ministry has urged the five CAPFs to "comment" in favour or against the recruitment of the third gender.&nbsp;

A senior CAPF commander privy to the development said the forces have discussed the "challenges and opportunities" that can come with transgenders in the officer ranks. 
"What we have found after the preliminary analysis is that this is a watershed moment for the CAPFs like a few years ago when women were recruited for the first time in the constabulary and officer ranks."

"The transgenders will add to the rich profile of these forces. Also, if uniformed forces will not lead by example how can we expect other sections of the society to shed old inhibitions?" he said.

According to the CAPF commander, accepting the transgenders could be difficult for the troops initially but like women, they can connect well with colleagues and commanders in these forces.&nbsp;

He went on to say that the force would not have to build the additional infrastructure of the third gender as all existing living units and toilets are gender-neutral.

Coronavirus cases rise to over 58,000 in Mumbai

The Central paramilitary forces reported 24 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday while over 150 personnel recovered, officials said. 
These forces have now begun sending the recovered troops for another 14 days of home quarantine.

With a total of 159 personnel cured in the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 cases in these five forces, CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB, stand at 731, a senior official told PTI.

Among the latest recoveries, 44 personnel are from the CRPF's Delhi-based 31st battalion.

The unit was a major hotspot after about 140 men living in its campus in Mayur Vihar phase-III were infected with coronavirus and a 55-year-old sub-inspector had died.

Of the 24 fresh cases, 16 were reported in Border Security Force that also had 98 recoveries since Friday.

The number of active cases in the border guarding force with a strength of around 2.5 lakh personnel now stands at 208.

"All infected personnel are under treatment in COVID-19 designated hospitals. The 16 personnel reported with the infection today are asymptomatic," BSF spokesperson Shubhendu Bhardwaj said.

"A total of 135 personnel have recovered from the pandemic till now," he said.

The CRPF, the country's largest paramilitary with 3.25 lakh personnel, also saw five fresh infections and the active coronavirus cases in the force are 233.

The Central Industrial Security Force, that has lost the maximum three personnel to COVID-19 among CAPFs, reported three fresh cases. The CISF's 118 staffers are in isolation and undergoing treatment.

Two other forces, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Sashastra Seema Bal, reported no fresh case of the viral disease. 
The number of active cases are 151 and 21 in the ITBP and SSB respectively.

The Sashastra Seema Bal, that guards Nepal and Bhutan borders, saw nine recoveries.

These forces under the command of the Union home ministry have a combined strength of around 10 lakh personnel and are deployed for a variety of duties in the internal security domain and border guarding.

ITBP reports 12 coronavirus cases; 3 new cases in CRPF

As many as around 200 Indian evacuees from coronavirus epicentre Wuhan were discharged from Indo-Tibetan Border Police quarantine camp in Delhi on Monday. Maldivian nationals were also among those who were discharged from the facility.&nbsp;

Chhattisgarh: Six dead after clash among ITBP personnel in Narayanpur

Eleven member Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) mountaineers'&nbsp;team who retrieved the bodies of mountaineers successfully from Nanda Devi East were airlifted from the Base Camp to Pithoragarh on Sunday.

The ITBP team will reach Delhi on Monday to call on SS Deswal, Director General of ITBP at Force Headquarters.

ITBP mission- 'Daredevils'&nbsp;ended after bodies of seven out of eight missing mountaineers who were on a mission to climb Nanda Devi peak was airlifted to Munsyari and further to Pithoragarh on July 3 with the help of Indian Air Force, said ITBP.

The bodies of seven mountaineers were handed over to the District Administration Pithoragarh on Wednesday.

"We couldn't locate the eighth body, we might recover it under 200ft thick snow layers which have been created due to periodic snowfall in that region," said SS Deswal, Director General, ITBP.

Deswal had briefed the ITBP team in Pithoragarh before launching the high-risk mission, the team tried to search for the eighth body but due to uneven terrain, difficult altitude and weather limitations, they couldn't find the missing body.

Speaking to ANI about the high-risk mission, Deswal said, "This operation was extremely challenging which was conducted at a height of 22,000 feet, adverse climatic conditions made it more difficult for the teams to conduct a search operation. We were unable to land our Indian Air Force helicopters due to tough climatic conditions, strong winds and uneven terrain."

An 11-member team of ITBP dug out the seven bodies, including that of a woman climber, from under the snow.

The team had launched 'Operation Daredevil'&nbsp;for the missing group of mountaineers -- 4 British, 2 Americans, and 1 each from India and Australia.

Standing at a height of 25,643 feet, Nanda Devi is the second highest mountain in India and 23rd highest overall.&nbsp;

Eleven member Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) mountaineers' team who retrieved the bodies of mountaineers successfully from Nanda Devi East were airlifted from the Base Camp to Pithoragarh on Sunday. The ITBP team will reach Delhi on Monday to call on SS Deswal, Director General of ITBP at Force Headquarters. ITBP mission- 'Daredevils' ended after bodies of seven out of eight missing mountaineers who were on a mission to climb Nanda Devi peak was airlifted to Munsyari and further to Pithoragarh on July 3 with the help of Indian Air Force, said ITBP. The bodies of seven mountaineers were handed over to the District Administration Pithoragarh on Wednesday. "We couldn't locate the eighth body, we might recover it under 200ft thick snow layers which have been created due to periodic snowfall in that region," said SS Deswal, Director General, ITBP. Deswal had briefed the ITBP team in Pithoragarh before launching the high-risk mission, the team tried to search for the eighth body but due to uneven terrain, difficult altitude and weather limitations, they couldn't find the missing body. Speaking to ANI about the high-risk mission, Deswal said, "This operation was extremely challenging which was conducted at a height of 22,000 feet, adverse climatic conditions made it more difficult for the teams to conduct a search operation. We were unable to land our Indian Air Force helicopters due to tough climatic conditions, strong winds and uneven terrain." An 11-member team of ITBP dug out the seven bodies, including that of a woman climber, from under the snow. The team had launched 'Operation Daredevil' for the missing group of mountaineers -- 4 British, 2 Americans, and 1 each from India and Australia. Standing at a height of 25,643 feet, Nanda Devi is the second highest mountain in India and 23rd highest overall.

China tried to make multiple intrusion attempts in Ladakh in March, said a report submitted to the Home Ministry by Indo-Tibetan Border Police(ITBP).

According to the ITBP report, China intruded into India on February 28, March 3 and March 7, 12, 2018, through trains near the northern Pangong lake.

The report further states that March also recorded a maximum number of intrusion by Chinese forces into the Ladakh region.

Chinese army intruded into three places near Pangong lake area during which the Chinese soldiers entered within 6 kilometers inside Indian territory.

However, the Chinese forces returned to their side after ITBP protested.

According to reports, China also infiltrated into Ladakh's Northern sub-sector on February 28, March 3 and 7 wherein they entered 7 kilometers inside the Indian territory. China retreated after meeting with retaliation from the Indian side.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Chinese military had also claimed in border personnel meeting in March that they had protested against the<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/china-objects-to-indias-transgression-in-arunachal-pradesh-india-rejects-the-protest-129126"> Indian army's 'transgression'</a> into the strategically sensitive Asaphila area along the disputed border in Arunachal Pradesh.

The India side had rejected these claims saying that the area in the upper Subansiri region of Arunachal Pradesh belongs to India and it was&nbsp;regularly carrying out patrols.

Chinese incursion around Pangong lake which extends from India to China is quite common as the Line of Actual Control (LAC) passes through the lake in the Aksai Chin territory.

One civilian was injured in a crossfire between terrorists and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel in the Qazigund area of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The injured civilian has been shifted to the nearby hospital.

Ammunition has also been recovered from the location.

On June 3, one Indian Army soldier was killed in an attack by terrorists on a convoy in Qazigund.

Two others have been injured while two other personnel are critically injured.

On the same day, one civilian was also injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Poonch sector.

Yesterday, at least five terrorists were gunned down, as the Indian Army continued to thwart cross-border infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC).

The sources said that the civilian team was sent back by Chinese People&#39;s Liberation Army troops, who claimed it to be their land. 
 
The 80-square kilometre ground has been agreed by the two countries to be a disputed part since 1957 and was to be sorted out at the negotiating table by the two sides.&nbsp; 
 
Over the past few years, Chinese troops have been spotted in the area and even air violations have taken place in this area, the sources said. 
 
&#39;ITBP never entered here with arms since 1958 agreement&#39; 
 
Chinese side had sent in a delegation on April 19, 1958 for negotiations with their Indian counterparts and both sides had agreed not to send troops into the area but had avoided a discussion on final settlement of the Barahoti ground. 
 
The sources said that ever since this agreement, ITBP, which mans the 3,488-km Sino-Indian border from Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast, had never entered the area with arms. 
 
However, shepherds from both sides were allowed to enter the ground. 
 
The Chinese troops have since the reported incursion returned even as apprehensions persisted that they may be taking undue advantage of the agreement of 1958 by pushing in their soldiers into the area which they recognise as &#39;Wu-Je&#39;. 
 
While Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat termed the development as &quot;something to worry about&quot; hoping that India will pay heed to his request for increased vigil, junior minister in Indian government Kiren Rijiju said ITBP had been asked to look into the matter.&nbsp;
